Omni was a glossy, full-sized science fiction/science fact magazine that was published from October 1978 through 1995, and which lasted until 1998 as a web publication. It ended mostly because of the death of co-founder Kathy Keeton, wife of Bob Guccione of Penthouse. Famous editors included Ben Bova and the magazine published works by many well-known science fiction authors such as Robert Heinlein, William Gibson, George R. R. Martin, and Orson Scott Card. It was published in at least six languages and spun off a brief TV show and Omni Comix.
The magazine started out with a roughly equal mix of science fiction and futuristic popular science, but the science fiction content gradually decreased. Eventually, the magazine began to take a slant towards the paranormal.
An online revival called Omni Reboot began in 2013.
