Akitsuki Family

The family of the main character.

Kouzou Akitsuki

A "loving" father out on a stroll with his two lovely step-daughters.

The main character of the story. Prior to the events of the VN or OVA, he suffered a lab accident that left him impotent, or so he thought, and nothing he did helped over several years. Then he saw Airi and Marina and became aroused, and just had to gain access to one or both of them, regardless of the risks.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Abusive Parents: Considering that he uses drugs to rape his step-daughters, it certainly applies.
• Adaptational Jerkass: In the original VN, he tells Masato to stay away from Marina after witnessing him sexually assault Yuka, and that's it. In the OVA, he openly has sex with Marina, right in front of him, as everybody is watching the video of Masato sexually assaulting Sana, and Marina is openly proclaiming how enjoyable the sex is, and Sana later comes in and adds insult to injury by begging for sex because Masato left her unsatisfied.
• Best Served Cold: In the manga based on the OVA, it is listed in the character description of book #2 that Kouzou had been married to Kayoko and endured Airi abusing him for an entire year before he finally had enough and retaliated.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He fools his wife Kayoko by acting like a good and kind man, but he really married her to gain sexual access to her daughters.
• Black Comedy Rape: The final episode of Refresh has Airi show him how it feels to be on the receiving end of rape, by roping an unnamed homosexual life-guard into thinking Kouzou has consented to giving him oral sex, and the lifeguard shoves his erect penis in Kouzou's mouth as Airi and Sana look on from the ocean.
• Even Evil Has Standards: He's a guy who sees nothing wrong with using drugs to turn his two step-daughters into sex-slaves in all but name, but push comes to shove and he shows that he truly cares about the well being of all the girls he has sex with, whether it's getting mad if anyone insults or tries to harm them, making sure they and their children come through pregnancy alright, or even going out of his way to make sure Marina's toxic boyfriend goes to jail on several felonies when he refuses to leave her alone.
• Heel Face Turn: He starts the VN only caring about his own sexual gratification, the well-being of his step-daughters Airi and Marina a very, very distant consideration. By the end of either of their respective routes, he genuinely dotes on them with actual affection to the point that he actually swears off sex for months, just so the girl enters her stable period and doesn't run the risk of miscarriage or related complications.
• Hypocrisy Nod: He starts the VN internally calling himself a hypocrite for his plans to use the estrus spray on either Airi or Marina to make her his sex-partner without concern for her well-being when he himself is bitter and angry that an accidental exposure to a similar spray made him impotent for years, unable to be aroused by any woman, regardless of what he did or what medical treatment he received, until he caught sight of Airi and Marina innocently walking down some stairs and got aroused by it.
• "It's Not Rape If You Enjoyed It": In his mind, the fact that his estrus spray gets his targets into a state of extreme arousal is implicit consent to have sex with them.
• Mad Scientist: In addition to being a teacher at the school where Airi and Marina get their education, he's the head researcher in a pharmaceutical lab, and his professional work ethics are dubious, at best.
• Making Love in All the Wrong Places: He loves to live dangerously in regards to his sexual escapades. He has sex with Airi, Marina, and Sana in their school, where he's also a teacher. He has sex with Marina in a public park. He has sex with Yuka in his lab, with his assistant nearby. In the OVA, he is even bolder, having sex with Airi on a train bathroom en route to some hotsprings and in the ocean and behind a sand-dune of a public beach with an unnamed lifeguard.
• The Peeping Tom: In the VN, he starts the respective route by peeking on either Airi or Marina changing.
• Perverted Sniffing: He gets off by sniffing the dirty panties of Airi or Marina. Marina catches him fishing them out of the laundry in the VN, but he deceives her by coming up with an innocent excuse, like he dropped and was searching for his wallet in the laundry basket.
• Sex God: By the very second episode of the OVA, teenage girls Airi, Marina, and Sana are actively competing over who gets to have sex with Kouzou. They think he's just that good in the sack, even without the estrus spray in the equation.
• Three-Way Sex: He's a huge fan of this. In the OVA, he fantasizes about a five way with Yuka, Sana, Airi, and Marina, but he officially has sex scenes featuring Airi and Sana, as well as scenes featuring Airi and Marina.
• Two-Person Pool Party: He loves to have sex with the girls in bodies of water, the bathtub, hot springs, and even has sex with Airi in the ocean in Refresh.
• Villain Protagonist: As the main character of a plot centering around drugging and sexually exploiting teenage girls, he can't be anything else.
• Wife Husbandry: In the OVA, his original intent in marrying Kayoko was to lure the daughters into a committed sexual relationship with himself. It's only because Airi abuses him and Marina's virginity was targeted by Masato that had him retaliate in the former and panic in the latter, taking their virginity by force. In the VN, the plan was always to just spray them with the estrus spray when their guards are down and let the spray make them think they're consenting.

Airi Akitsuki

Hmph! As if I'll ever accept you, scum, trash, pervert father!

The youngest of the Akitsuki daughters. She is immediately opposed to Kouzou's marriage to her mother and tries to drive him out of the house with abuse on a near continuous basis. Kouzou ultimately decides to retaliate by swiping some of the experimental aphrodisiac spray from his lab and using it on her, turning her into his "willing" sex slave.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Ambiguous Situation: The bonus game content, Oni Chichi After, has her and Kouzou visiting his side of the family in a remote village (why Marina and Kayoko are not present is never explained), and they're both stuck in a bus stop, where the only vehicle traffic is said bus, during a heavy rainstorm while waiting for the public bus back home to the Akitsuki estate. The entire bonus content is all about the two of them engaged in various sex acts, only for Kouzou to wake up at the end, his head in her lap, and Airi denies the whole thing ever happened, calling him a pervert for his Erotic Dream, and stating she would never do such a thing. Problem with her declaration is that she's well established as an exhibitionist by this point who gets off on having sex with Kouzou on camera, in public places, or both, purely for the thrill of the risk of getting caught in the act without actually getting caught, despite her many, many protests to the contrary. So yes, she would have sex with Kouzou in a public but vacant and out of the way bus stop. Furthermore, whatever evidence may have existed of the act was washed away by the heavy rain, so the end has Kouzou genuinely wondering if it was All Just a Dream, or if they actually had sex, but Airi just wants to deny it, purely for laughs, as she's clinging to him like the two of them are lovers as they're boarding the bus.
• Asshole Victim: Going by the character synopsis in the books, Airi has been abusing Kouzou for at least a year prior to the start of the OVA. She's the only one surprised that nobody has any sympathy for her when Kouzou snaps, sprays her down with the estrus spray, rapes her with the stated intent of impregnation, and refuses to stop even when she apologizes in terror.
• Breakout Character: She's the most popular character of the franchise, featuring prominently on the DVD covers, promotional materials, and has the most scenes and doujin dedicated to her, even featuring crossovers with other h-series.
• Brother-Sister Incest: Sister-sister incest, to be precise. Not only does she engage in three-ways with Marina and Kouzou in the OVA, but in the original VN's unlockable harem route, one of the paths results in Marina giving Kouzou a blow-job while Airi is pegging Marina from behind with a strap-on.
• Child by Rape: Her pregnancy ending is the result of being sexually exploited by Kouzou the entire game.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: In the OVA, once the spray has done its job, she gets jealous any time Kouzou wants to have sex with someone else, even claiming that his dick is hers, and openly declaring that it's her prerogative who can and cannot sleep with him.
• Cycle of Revenge: Kouzou sprays her down with the estrus spray and rapes her until she "loves him" in retaliation for at least a year of her abusing him and trying to drive him away. Refresh ends with her getting revenge on him for the... less than entirely consensual sex by lying to a homosexual male lifeguard, burying Kouzou in the sand at the beach, and then watching from the ocean as the lifeguard goes after Kouzou who can't run or defend himself, smirking.
• Et Tu, Brute?: She is horrified when she sees that Sana is only interested in filming Kouzou having sex with her and has no intention of doing anything at all to rescue her from his clutches.
• Good Victims, Bad Victims: She's one of the "bad" victims as Kouzou using the spray on her and then raping her until she "loves him" is entirely retaliatory.
• Hypocrite: When it's just her and Kouzou, she loves to berate and demean him, but when he's interested in another girl, or vice-versa, suddenly he's very desirable, all hers, and she has to be convinced to share.
• Mega Twintails: Her pigtails reach all the way to her hips.
• Third-Person Person: While official subtitles have her use personal pronouns, the original has her refer to herself as "Airi."
• Tsundere: Of the annoying "the best way to get the attention of the guy I like is to insult and berate him, and if he doesn't realize it, he's an idiot" variety, both in the "After" game spin off and the OVA.
• Victim Falls For Rapist: After repeated and extended sessions exposed to Kouzou's spray, she undergoes a Pavlovian reaction and becomes aroused anywhere around him, giving him unlimited sexual access.
• Wife Husbandry: Gender-flipped and discussed. In the pregnancy ending, she learns she's carrying a son and asks Kouzou if it's okay for her to groom him to be her lover when he enters puberty. Kouzou responds by banning the act and she giggles.

Marina Akitsuki

Airi! Why are you always so cruel to Father?!

The oldest of the Akitsuki daughters. She initially has no problems with Kouzou marrying her mother and welcomes him warmly. The issue comes about when Kouzou learns that Masato is pressuring her to give him her virginity. Kouzou refuses to let that happen and takes her virginity himself. When she learns that Masato is not only also a rapist but is also toxic in every other way, including physical violence, she decides her step-father is a much better man and quickly consents to basically unlimited sexual access, out of gratitude.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Babies Ever After: She also has a pregnancy ending, and she does openly consent to sex with Kouzou, even giving him a written invitation at the last of her (pre-pregnancy) sex-scenes in the VN.
• Good Victims, Bad Victims: One of the "good" victims. Nothing she did, or planned to do, merits Kouzou taking her virginity by rape.
• Questionable Consent: In the VN, how much of her consent is due to the spray, and how much is due to Kouzou exposing Masato and rescuing her from a clearly toxic relationship is unknown. In the OVA, she's never exposed to the spray and still consents to sex with Kouzou after seeing that Masato is not only also a rapist, but realizing that he's extremely toxic, abusive, and violent.
• Playing with Syringes: In the game bonus content, Oni Chichi After 2, she takes Yuka's place as Kouzou's test subject, for a presumably far less potent version of the Estrus spray, and then very, very happily has sex with Kouzou in the recovery area.
• Sanity Slippage: As she endures repeated exposure to the spray in the VN, she begins to lose her moral compass and inhibitions. She even locks her mother and Masato in a room after dosing the both of them with the spray and masturbating as she's listening to Masato and her mother going at it like rabbits in heat. THEN proceeds with the plan to have the school staff find the two entangled together and have her ex, though he refuses to admit it, carted off to jail for sexual assault.
• This Is Unforgivable!: In the OVA, when she learns that Masato stabbed her mother with a box-cutter, she happily sees him sent off to prison and then burns every last one of his pictures she owns, telling Kouzou that she'll never forgive the guy who "hurt Mom."
• Victim Falls For Rapist: She falls in love with and gives sexual access to Kouzou out of gratitude for rescuing her from a toxic relationship with Masato, even though he did rape her first.
• Wife Husbandry: Discussed. In the VN's pregnancy ending, she learns she's carrying a daughter and happily tells Kouzou that she is more than willing to help him groom their daughter to be his new lover once the girl reaches puberty, as she and Kouzou are having sex.
• Yandere: Subverted and parodied. In the OVA, during the hot-springs trip with Airi and Kouzou, she acts as if she's jealous enough to monopolize Kouzou's sexual affections by threatening him with a knife, and it's very convincing, but at the end reveals that it was a trick knife and she was "just joking."

Kayoko Akitsuki

Kouzou is such a nice guy! We're lucky to have him in our lives, so you girls be nice to him too!

Kouzou's wife and the mother of both Airi and Marina, with the girls being half-sisters. She remains unaware of it in the OVA, and most of the VN, but her husband married her purely for the sake of getting access to her daughters.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• All Women Are Lustful: She very, very much wants sex with Kouzou, even lying beside him in racy lingere in the OVA. He'd gladly take her up on it if he could.
• Good Victims, Bad Victims: One of the "good" victims as she clearly didn't deserve to be attacked by Masato, either sexually or with a weapon.
• Horrible Judge of Character: Kouzou is her third husband, the previous two got her pregnant with Marina and Airi and then divorced her, leaving her to raise the girls alone. Kouzou sticks around just so he can have sex with the girls and convinces her he's actually impotent all the while, right up until the end of the VN. In the OVA, she apparently never realizes it.
• Irony: She's Kouzou's type, he'd love to have sex with her, and she wants sex with him too, but that's never going to happen because of his condition.
• Right for the Wrong Reasons: In the OVA, the final episode of Rebuild has her hold a family meeting and declare that she's yanking Airi and Marina out of their school and shipping them off to finish their education elsewhere, after Masato has tried to frame Marina with a "doctored" photo and she saw Kouzou watching a porn with "a girl that looks like Airi." (Not realizing the girl is Airi.) She rationalizes it by stating that there's no way the girls can have a normal school life with such scandals hovering over their heads. By shipping Marina and Airi to another school, where Kouzou is not a teacher, she not only limits his sexual access, she mitigates the changes he gets caught, since he likes to live dangerously, in regards to his sexual exploitation.
• Selective Obliviousness: In the VN, she's apparently faking it because the unlockable harem route shows that she's not only well aware that Kouzou is sexually involved with her daughters, but actually gets a kick out of seeing them engaged in sex acts. In the OVA, she never picks up on it, ignoring all evidence, even when the end of episode 1 of Rebuild and the start of episode 2 of the same has her walk in on Airi and Kouzou having sex, and just accepts Marina's lame excuses when the latter throws a blanket over her head.

Sana Kuranaka

Airi's best friend since childhood. Her favorite hobby is filming Airi, regardless of what the latter is doing. She agrees to have sex with Kouzou in return for the privilege of shooting videos of Airi having sex with him.

• Insult to Rocks: In the OVA version of events, she complains that Masato left her unsatisfied and begged Kouzou for sex.
• Lovable Sex Maniac: YMMV on "loveable" but she's a sex maniac who both loves filming Airi having sex with Kouzou and having sex with him herself.
• Obliviously Evil: She seemingly can not comprehend why Airi is so opposed to being drugged into having sex with Kouzou and then being filmed in the act, regardless of Airi's protests.
• Schmuck Bait: In the OVA, she lets herself be tied up in a public bathroom by Airi and sets up a camera to film herself. Masato, rather than free her when he chances on the scene and she asks for help, decides to have sex with her instead. He's enraged when he sees Marina watching the video of his criminal acts and tries to retaliate by engaging in felonious stalking and blackmailing the Akitsuki family with photos of Marina and Kouzou visiting a Love Hotel. Kouzou torpedoes him by showing how the incriminating photos can be easily faked (since Masato used the school's A-V room to edit and publish the photos), and Masato winds up destroying himself when he comes after Kayoko with a box-cutter as she was entering a school provided meeting room for an official meeting with him.
• Sex for Services: She agrees to unrestricted sex with Kouzou in return for unrestricted filming of Airi having sex with him.
• Three-Way Sex: Her favorite way to film Airi having sex with Kouzou is to join in the sexy-fun times while the camera is rolling.

Yuka Mikami

Of course! I will do anything for you, Kouzou-san!

Marina's best friend. She is Kouzou's precious test subject for the experimental estrus spray. She happily, very happily, agrees to be his sex-toy because Kouzou saved her father's life and continues to provide him medical care in exchange.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Happily Adopted: In the OVA, at the final episode of Rebuild, she's officially and legally adopted by the Akitsuki household. Her response is full-blown tears of joy.
• Insult to Rocks: In the VN version of events, she repeatedly condemns Masato for sexually exploiting her when he found her in clear distress, as he's repeatedly trying to browbeat and intimidate her into publicly confessing that she entrapped him. Since this fails to sway him, she decries his sexual performance as completely unsatisfactory.
• Playing with Syringes: She's the test subject in Kouzou's lab for the experimental estrus spray. The fact that part of the "treatment" involves sex with Kouzou is ethically and legally very questionable.
• Schmuck Bait: In the VN, she agrees with Kouzou to let herself be sprayed with a dose of the estrus spray and then be left in a public classroom of the school, right in the path of Masato, bound and in clear distress. Rather than do anything at all to help her, Masato decides to have sex with her right then and there. Marina chances upon the scene innocently, earlier summoned to that classroom to deliver some documents, to catch him in the act, and Kouzou then "chances upon the scene" and very, very reasonably demands Masato to stay away from his stepdaughter in exchange for keeping quiet about this sexual crime. Masato spits upon Kouzou's mercy and spends the rest of the VN trying to avenge himself on Marina, Yuka, and Kouzou himself until he's drugged by Marina and engineered into committing another sex crime in front of many, many witnesses.
• Sex for Services: She's Kouzou's sex toy in exchange for her father's continued medical treatment. In the OVA, her father's dead and being Kouzou's lab rat and sex toy is what allows her to live her life, until she's adopted at the end of Rebuild.
• Undying Loyalty: For Kouzou, she will do anything!
• Yandere: In Airi's route, she accidentally overdoses on the estrus spray, gains super-human strength, pins Kouzou down and tries to rape him while proclaiming her "love." She has to be tazed unconscious to free him.

Southern 南部

Kouzou-san, are you sure that the missing spray is simply due to an error in the changeover to the new measuring system?

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Big Damn Heroes: When Yuka has Kouzou pinned and is trying to rape him in the VN, he shows up and tazes her, freeing his boss and taking Yuka for further medical screening so she can recover from her accidental overdose.
• Bit Character: He barely has any role in the plot and is easily replaceable. In the OVA, he doesn't even exist.
• Selective Obliviousness: He seemingly never notices nor has objections to Kouzou having sex with Yuka.
• Unwitting Pawn: Kouzou tricks him into writing off some missing estrus spray as a "clerical error" by blaming the lab's switchover to a new measuring system.

Oono Masato-(AKA ASSHOLE)

Well, I think it's worse for a (step-)father to have sex with his daughter!

Introduced as Marina's boyfriend, he pushes her, hard, to give him her virginity. When Kouzou learns of it, he not only takes her virginity for himself but demonstrates to Marina that he's not as good a boy as he pretends by setting a trap and letting Marina witness the guy's true character. Marina decides that it's better to give Kouzou unrestricted sexual access than stay with him as a result of his actions.

Tropes exhibited by this character include:

• Ambiguous Situation: His final appearance in the OVA has him smirk as he's being taken away by police while looking at Kouzou shielding Marina. The why is never made clear.
• Bastard Boyfriend: Marina gives Kouzou unrestricted sexual access out of gratitude when she realizes just how nasty a guy Masato is, as he's violent, abusive, demanding, entitled, and worst of all, just plain dumb.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He gets Marina to be his girlfriend by pretending to be a kind, decent, and morally upright guy, if a bit horny. In truth, he thinks with his groin, not his head, and is entitled, violent, controlling, abusive, and just plain toxic.
• Didn't Think This Through: In Rebuild's version of events, he learns Marina saw him raping another girl when he catches her and Kouzou having sex in the school's A-V room while watching a video of him in the act. Instead of going to the authorities with this, (In Japan, incest is not a crime, though trying to marry an incest partner is, but even then Japan's laws do frown on parental incest, especially in an unequal authority situation, like teacher/student, because of possible coercion), he decides to stalk Kouzou and Marina, trying to wreck their family life with blackmail photos of them going to a Love Hotel. Kouzou torpedoes that plan by presenting a photo with the same time-stamp, pose, etc., but with an innocent background of taking Marina to a public shopping center, and with Masato already in prison for attacking Kayoko with a blade, there's now more than enough reasonable doubt to throw any case against Kouzou out of court.
• Entitled to Have You: To Marina. When she dumps him as a direct result of witnessing him rape another girl, he refuses to give up trying to go after her until he's in jail facing several felony charges.
• Eviler Than Thou: As nasty as Kouzou is for being a guy who drugs his step-daughters to rape them, Masato makes him look like a saint by comparison. Masato's response to seeing a woman in distress is to rape her himself and then violently, emphasis on violently, protest that he's done nothing wrong when he's caught in the act.
• Framing the Guilty Party: Regardless of medium, the final nail in his coffin is not of his doing. In the VN, Marina has him arrested on sexual assault charges by drugging him and her mother with the estrus spray and then leaving them in a closed room until the spray has them going at it like rabbits in heat, and then sends in the rest of the school faculty to tear them apart. In the OVA, he is also drugged with the spray but reacts very differently. He instead hallucinates Kayoko as Marina and comes at her with a box cutter. Kayoko's scream leads to the very next scene having Masato dragged away by police in handcuffs, Kouzou comforting Marina and moving to shield her, and Kayoko carried off on a stretcher to the hospital.
• Good Victims, Bad Victims: One of the "bad" victims as he is indeed dumped by his girlfriend who then goes on to have relations with another guy, as a result of a trap, but if he thought with his brain rather than his groin, the trap could have been easily avoided, and he wouldn't be guilty of a felony.
• Jizzed in My Pants: In the VN version of events, during Marina's route, when he tries to browbeat her into helping him "clear his name" by forcing Yuka to reveal she entrapped him, Marina simply touches his pants and he blows his load. Marina then mocks his Premature Ejaculation.
• Revenge Before Reason: Generously, it can be interpreted that he's far more fixated on getting even with Kouzou and Marina (and Yuka in the VN) than his own well being, or even consider the fact that he has nobody but himself to blame for deciding to have sex with a woman in distress when it's glaringly obvious that she can't refuse, and in a public place.
• Too Dumb to Live: He easily falls for a trap where he sees a woman in distress, in a public place, and rather than offer genuine assistance, just straight up has sex with her, when she's clearly in no position to refuse. And to make it worse, completely ignores Kouzou's very, very reasonable demand to leave Marina alone when Marina herself stated she wants nothing to do with him, and Kouzou has hard evidence he's guilty of felonious acts.
