P!nk, birth name Alecia Beth Moore, is an American singer-songwriter. She began as an R&B artist, before switching to a pop-rock sound after taking control of her career.
Throughout her over two-decade long career, P!nk has racked up three Grammys, two Brit Awards and 12 Top 20 hits.
P!nk provides examples of the following tropes:
- AcCENT Upon the Wrong SylLABle: "Don't Let Me Get Me" puts emphasis on the NYE in Britney Spears' name to fit the rhyming scheme.
- Badass Boast: "Cuz I Can", "18 Wheeler", and "U + Ur Hand".
- Bowdlerise:
- The song "F***in' Perfect", in radio edits, has the chorus changed to "less than perfect".
- In the clean version of "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", the lyrics "I think you're full of s**t" is altered to "I think you're full of it".
- Her later albums, which carry parental advisory labels, also have clean versions that omit the explicit language.
- The songs, "Can't Take Me Home" and "18 Wheeler" omit the F word to prevent their albums from receiving a parental advisory label.
- "Hell Wit Ya" omits s**t.
- Break Up Song: "So What". In fact, 90 percent of the songs on the Funhouse album can qualify.
- "Blow Me One Last Kiss" from The Truth About Love can also qualify.
- But Not Too White: When P!nk first debuted, her light tan, R&B style and the fact that many of her music videos featured black romantic leads, made many viewers think she was a light-skinned black woman, or at least bi-racial. Her two white parents would say otherwise.
- Check, Please!:
- Early Installment Weirdness: Her debut album showcased R&B and soul, in contrast to the pop-rock style of her subsequent albums.
- New Sound Album: Beginning with "Missundaztood," she incorporates a pop-rock style into her music.
- Precision F-Strike: Beginning with "Trouble," her albums have been marked with a parental advisory label due to the inclusion of explicit language.
