• Ax Crazy: Setsuna was borderline during her PKK days, and people possessed by Akudaikan are all the time.
• Berserk Button: You'll find it a bad idea to threaten Setsuna or Love's friends.

• Heroic BSOD: Setsuna goes into one after Love in put into a coma. Quickly becomes a Roaring Rampage of Revenge, though.
• Hot-Blooded: Too many to count. Highlights include Setsuna, Miyuki, and Kaoru.
• Hive Mind: Cure Bright and Cure Windy.
• Ill Girl: Michiru.

• After the End: The main plot of this fic, with Love, Setsuna Higashi, and various others trying to get to the bottom of how they wound up in a post-apocalyptic 27th century Earth and get back to their own time plane.
• All Your Base Are Belong to Us
• Baseball Episode: Yes, there's several, all--except the first one--of which are based on the Black Sox Scandal. If it isn't obvious enough by itself, the good guys wear Cincinnati Reds uniforms, and the bad guys wear Chicago White Sox uniforms.
• Bifauxnen: Haruhi Fujioka. The fact that she looks like a boy fools Setsuna Higashi immediately, which leads to a Bridget being dropped on her when Haruhi reveals her name. Apparently Setsuna Higashi has read a lot of Ouran High School Host Club in her time period.
• Cluster F-Bomb: Akane Mishima still loves to swear in Kampfer form; however, this time she keeps things PG-13-level so as not to scare away the younger readers.
• Crapsack World: What did you expect of Earth in the year 2613?
• Cross Dresser: Setsuna Sakurazaki is frequently seen wearing the business suit she wore in the Mundus Magicus arc of Negima!
• Disney Death: Love, after shooting the Red Queen and the Knave of Hearts in combat--while the Knave shot her himself. As you might have guessed, she gets better.
• Dropped A Bridget On Her: Haruhi does this to Setsuna Higashi just by revealing her name very early on in the fanfic.
• Even Evil Has Standards: As soon as Kaede hears the nine-game series which she had lost in eight had been fixed, she executes those complicit, saying after the last shot, "Whatever you gamble, eventually you lose."
• Fan Service: Averted for the most part; the closest is the one scene where Kasumi/Misty is seen without her cardigan or leather jacket--baring her arms--which happens during a moment with Satoshi/Ash.
• Gambit Roulette: The Red Queen and the Knave of Hearts.
• Gender Bender: Natsuru Seno still goes through this in Kampfer form.
• The Glasses Come Off: "I always take my glasses off before kicking some tail on the battlefield."
• Gratuitous Spanish: Every word that comes out of Lina Inverse's mouth is Spanish, which leads bilingual characters to converse with her in Spanish and/or translate what she said. During the former, English subtitles will appear.
• Gretzky Has the Ball: Chargin' Chucks are in the stands and cheer every time they hear the play-by-play announcers get their sports wrong during the baseball games.
  • Don't those Chargin' Chucks ever not appear whenever someone gets their sports wrong and Pretty Cure is involved?
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Lina seems to have behavioral issues, especially when someone comments on her flat chest. Also, Akane still shows signs of being a Pesci in Kampfer form.
• Hell-Bent for Leather: Haruhi wears a black leather jacket. Setsuna Higashi later finds a black leather jacket in the base and decides to wear it "just for the hell of it". Also, Kasumi/Misty sometimes wears a black leather jacket, particularly during fight scenes.
• Karmic Death: Kaede realizes that eight of her players had thrown the 8-game series and kills all eight when she sees them being paid by the gambler. Greed is a deadly sin, after all.
• Limited Wardrobe: Several heroes have just one set of clothes aside from jackets: Kasumi/Misty has her yellow tank top and blue jeans (more modest than her short shorts from the anime) and is usually seen also wearing a blue-violet cardigan or, particularly during fight scenes, a black leather jacket, Love has a white Trinity T-shirt, a pink hoodie, and denim short shorts, Arsene Lupin III wears his green jacket outfit, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII, and Inspector Zenigata wear their respective outfits from the Lupin III anime, Dastan wears his costume from Prince of Persia the Sands of Time, Inuyasha wears his hakama, and Kagome Higurashi wears her school uniform. And the baseball uniforms worn by Kasumi/Misty and Love don't even count.
• Meganekko: Haruhi and Akane.
• Mexican Standoff: The climax.
• Moral Event Horizon: The gambler enforces the fix between games 7 and 8, thus ensuring the death of the guy he threatened into going along with the fix. Unlike the eight players complicit, though, he passes his own Karma Houdini.
• No Mister Bond I Expect You to Dine: Kaede to Love, Setsuna Higashi, Natsuru, Akane, Haruhi, Lina, Satoshi/Ash, Takeshi/Brock, and Kasumi/Misty. This only reinforces her own Bond Villain Stupidity.
• Pettanko: Haruhi, Lina, and Kasumi/Misty.
• Precision F-Strike: Of all people, Kasumi/Misty. Her line, a response to Naraku's attack on both Haruhi and Lina, is "Go to Hell where you belong, you motherfucker!" Later, Haruhi's response to Love's Disney Death is to say, "She really was so fucking brave."
• Real Women Never Wear Dresses: Except for Natsuru in Kampfer form, Akane, Fujiko Mine, Konoka Konoe, Kagome Higurashi, and Sakura Mamiya, not one female among the good characters is seen wearing so much as a skirt. Lina is wearing her traveling costume from the Slayers anime, but unless you count tunics, that doesn't even come close to a dress.
• Shorttank: Lina, Kasumi/Misty, and Kagome.
• Shout-Out: Does the baseball arc remind you of another anime? However, not only is Lina--and not Haruhi, who shares her first name with the title character of that anime--the person who suggested the first baseball game of the arc, but the next eight games in the arc are clearly based on the Black Sox Scandal.
• Spanner in the Works: The alternate trope name is dropped by Haruhi in chapter 2, referring to Fujiko.
• Sweep the Leg: The gamblers had the pitcher for the first game bean Lina in the back at the start of the game to indicate to them that the fix is on. Sakura and Rinne, who are commentating, are shocked to see the bean ball and relay the news to HQ via radio. Rorschach notes, "Bean ball to the back, huh? Sounded like Sweep the Leg to me."
• Suddenly Always Knew That: It's revealed that Haruhi's only skill in the performing arts is playing the guitar, which she prefers to tune to E-flat tuning. A flashback to the '80s during one of the timeskips in Ouran shows her learning from a local metalhead who is a foreigner who had himself learned his trade from James Hetfield--yes, that one. And that was long before Metallica switched to E-flat tuning. Among the songs she learned from Hetfield's student--"The Four Horsemen" and "Motorbreath".
• Trying to Catch Me Fighting Dirty: Averted; the heroes--especially Love and Haruhi--are too much like goody-two-shoes to cheat, and yet they win six of their nine games after five of those games were thrown.
• Underwear of Power: Averted; Lina's already modest costume puts her underwear under her tunic and leggings to add further to the modesty in this fanfic.
• Unwitting Pawn: Kaede. The alternate trope name is dropped by Akane.

Akane: You gotta be kidding me! This whore is a Xanatos Sucker at the hands of the Red Queen and Knave of Hearts!? Son of a bitch!

• Wholesome Crossdresser: Haruhi, of course.

Future Wars 2 contains examples of:

• Australian Accent: Ayumu and Maelstrom have Broad, Haruna has General, and Seraphim and Sarasvati have Cultivated.
• British Accent: Eucliwood, Louise, Homura, Kyoko, Moka, and Kokoa, all use Received Pronunciation.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Seraphim neutralizing a homing missile with multiple slicings by her katana while yelling, "TSUBAMEGAESHI SECRET SWORD TECHNIQUE!"
• Due to the Dead: The Newsboys song "Breakfast", performed live by Otonashi on lead vocals, Moka on rhtyhm guitar, Kokoa on lead guitar, Seraphim on bass, Louise on drums, and Kanade on keyboards, is about Breakfast Club members who scatter the ashes of their recently-deceased clubmate in the cereal bowl he used to eat out of.
  • Following her death in combat at the end, Yuri's ashes are stored in a vault at DWF's headquarters, Kanade delivers a eulogy, and Seraphim crashes the deceased's motorcycle, sending it to the afterlife after her.
• Evil Laugh: Yuri once again proves she's a master at it after scaring away some enemy agents with gunfire. Inner Moka gets one before curb-stomping another enemy agent during a later battle, and Kokoa delivers at least one unashamedly while charging into battle and waving her weaponized Batty at an enemy.
• Hell-Bent for Leather: Seraphim, particularly during combat scenes.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: In the English dub, Seraphim is voiced by Emma Watson.
• Killed Off for Real: Yuri. And it's very tragic, the way it plays out. There's even a funeral pyre to drive the point home that she's dead.
• Limited Wardrobe: Much of the cast. Seraphim is a notable example, in that she only wears a spaghetti-strapped yellow top and blue jeans, with a black leather jacket added when she's in combat.
• Precision F-Strike: Seraphim, in the only time she uses a swear other than her "piece of shit" catchphrase, delivers the appropriate reaction to seeing a homing missile being fired at her camp outside Tennominami:

Seraphim: Oh, fuck!

• Take That: A memorable one from Itsuki:

Itsuki: What do I look like, a Ghost? This is not Starcraft with anime characters! I-It's much more sophisticated!

• Wholesome Crossdresser: Both Itsuki and Ayumu, at least when he's in Masou Shoujo form, count.

Pretty Cure All Stars Racing 5000 4D contains examples of:

Smile Pretty Cure VS Engine Sentai Go-onger contains examples of:

• Actor Allusion (When Miu is explaining to Cure Happy about how she and Sōsuke met and eventually fell in love with each other, a few bars of Metis' "Anata ga Ai wo Kureta kara..." can be heard in the background. This is a reference to the fact that Yasuhisa Furuhara and Yumi Sugimoto, Sōsuke and Miu's actors respectively, portrayed a couple in the music video for said song.)
• Birds of a Feather (Both teams turn out to have a lot in common, despite their diverging motifs. This goes from Candy and Miu having a heart-to-heart about their Big Brother Worshipping, to Cure Beauty and Go-on Blue being paired up for the battle in Samurai World and thinking of similar attack strategies at one point.)
• Brainwashed and Crazy (Sōsuke is brainwashed and turned into Dark Go-on Red by Usuginna.)
• Cannibalism Superpower (A variation. Usuginna absorbs her sisters as well as AkanBanki's Bikkurium capsule to become Pollution Queen and grow to giant size.)
• Continuity Nod (All the Go-ongers look the same as they did in their most recent canon appearances.)
  • Also, in episode 8 of Smile Yayoi comments that the rings created by the Ring Décor look like wedding rings. Here they are used as Sōsuke and Miu's new wedding rings after the first pair is destroyed by Fujune — and this time they don't disappear.
  • Gunpei's so-called "art" makes a return at the end.
  • After bringing the brainwashed Sōsuke back to his senses with a True Love's Kiss, Miu calls him a "daman" , alluding to a comment made by Saki at the end of GP42.
  • Early on, Akane punches Hiroto's punching bag just for fun, only to get knocked back and into the Suto manor's pool by it. This particular scene is similar to a scene in GP23, where the exact same thing happened with Sōsuke.

Hiroto: Not again...

• Expository Hairstyle Change (All the Smile Cures except Miyuki get this for the wedding. Akane wears her hair down, Yayoi gets Girlish Pigtails, Nao gets a French braid, and Reika gets a Prim and Proper Bun. All of them also get rose Hair Decorations that match the colors of their standard ones.)
• Fainting (Yayoi, upon seeing Sōsuke for the first time.)
• Fluffy Fashion Feathers (Miu's wedding dress. This extends to the bridesmaid dresses as well.)
• Literal Minded (A minor example: at the end, during the wedding ceremony, Miyuki grabs onto Yayoi upon hearing the priest say "Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace" during the wedding ceremony.)

Miyuki: What? He told me to.

• New Powers as the Plot Demands (Predictably, the Engine Miracle Lights will bring one. Speedor gets a Powerup Full-Color Change and becomes Skydor, while Go-on Red and Cure Happy get super modes to match: Flyaway Go-on Red and Flyaway Cure Happy.)
• Rearrange the Song (The post-ending Dancing Theme song, "Smile First Lap ~Märchen Custom~", a Smile-themed mix of the Go-on Ending Theme.)
• Roger Rabbit Effect (All the Smile characters, as well as the Engines in Soul form and the Pollution Cadet Sisters, are animated, while the rest of the Go-on characters, as well as AkanBanki, are in live action.)
• Same Sex Triplets (The Pollution Cadet Sisters are an evil example.)
• Shared Universe (Early on Candy states that Märchenland is actually a subdivision of Magic World, one of Go-onger's Braneworlds.)
• Shirtless Scene (Due to Author Appeal, Sōsuke is shirtless for a good chunk of the story.)

• True Love's Kiss (What ultimately brings Sōsuke back to his senses.)

• Wedding and Engagement Tropes (It revolves around Sōsuke and Miu's wedding, so obviously a few tropes come into play.)
  • Bouquet Toss (Candy is the one that winds up catching Miu's bouquet. On the other hand, the garter is caught (offscreen) by Bomper.)
  • Give Away the Bride (Hiroto, obviously, is the one that gives away Miu.)
  • Old New Borrowed and Blue (Hinted at the beginning. Reika gives Miu a blue garter "to complete the set". As a Brick Joke, the garter returns at the end, being caught by Bomper during the reception.)
