Revolution is the starting point of the Hasbro Comic Universe. A 2016 limited issue comic series, it brings all the franchises together to save the Earth.
Tropes used in Revolution include:
- Actually a Doombot: To the outside world, Rom kills Joe Colton. Nope just a Dire Wraith.
- Alien Invasion: G.I. Joe thinks it's a Cybertronian invasion but it's actually a Dire Wraith one.
- Aliens Are Bastards: The human race religiously believes this until the end.
- All Your Powers Combined: In the end, it takes Windblade's cityspeaking, Soundwave's telepathy, Rom's link to the Space Bridge, the Micronauts enerchanging with it, Matt's Spectrum mask and Mainframe...making the connections to save the Earth.
- Baby Got Back: Any shot of Scarlett from behind will emphasize her giant, beachball sized rear.
- Big Damn Heroes: G.I. Joe in the finale.
- Big Bad: Baron Karza.
- Big Good: Optimus Prime.
- Bigger Bad: Shockwave and his Regenesis project.
- C-List Fodder: Aside from Colton, Rom kills four Joes that were replaced by Wraiths. Not anyone important don't worry.
- Conflict Ball: Scarlett holds onto one for the first four issues and the G.I. Joe one-shot, first refusing to see the Cybertronians as anything but invaders then being determined to kill them all after Rom (whom she thinks is Cybertronian) kills Colton. She drops it totally off screen.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: Thundercracker's dog, Buster, can sniff out Dire Wraiths.
- Eviler Than Thou: The Dire Wraiths to Miles Mayhem and Baron Karza to the Dire Wraiths.
- Fantastic Racism: Rom has a pretty low opinion of Cybertronians. For what it's worth, the feeling is wholeheartedly reciprocated.
- Foreshadowing: Rom notes that his armor resonates with Ore-13.
- Fusion Dance: Baron Karza absorbs all the Wraiths into himself to turn himself into a towering Wraith/Karza hybrid. It's a mistake as it allows Optimus to piece everything together and rally the heroes of Earth into fighting the true baddie instead of each other.
- Hartman Hips: Scarlett and Helix.
- It's All About Me:
- Rom sees the chaos that he's left G.I. Joe and the Autobots in... and just leaves without providing any answers. Justified since readers of his book will remember that he's got an injured friend to tend to.
- Scarlett will fight for the safety of Earth but more often than not, she'll only wangst about how the situation has affected her personally.
- Skywarp though this was to be expected.
- Miles Mayhem seems physically incapable of not placing himself at the centre of the universe. Even his arguably heroic act is motivated solely out of envy that Optimus Prime would be the one to get the credit for a Heroic Sacrifice instead of him.
- It's Personal: Optimus orders his men after Rom after the latter seemingly killed G.I. Joes at random with the Autobots likely to get the blame for his actions.
- Immune to Bullets: Rom and the Cybertronians much to G.I. Joe's annoyance.
- Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: After attempts to get Rom to talk peacefully don't work, Winblade slashes her sword across his chest, Arcee punches his open wound, Optimus runs him over in truck mode before aiming his blaster inches from Rom's face. Unsurprisingly, Rom suddenly becomes far more reasonable and open to discussion.
- Jerkass:
- The US President.
- Scarlett.
- Lilliputian Warriors: The Micronauts and Karza are toy-sized but they can still do some serious damage.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Karza pulling a Fusion Dance on the Wraiths and harnessing their magical powers to manipulate the Ore-13 allows Optimus to peg him as the Big Bad and the common threat needed to rally everyone.
- No Sell: G.I. Joe soon learns how outmatched they are compared to Cybertronians and Space Knights.
- Out of Focus: Action Man has barely any impact on the story.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Snake Eyes. Every other Joe immediately opens fire on the Cybertronians and refuses to hear them out. Optimus and Snake Eyes have a minute long conversation and Snake Eyes is immediately convinced of Optimus's sincerity and devotion to Earth.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Scarlett against the Cybertronians. Not that they even seem to know she exists.
- Sherlock Scan:
- The Joes note that the poses and reactions of the Autobots and Rom to one another suggest that they aren't related. Scarlett refuses to listen.
- In the finale, Helix notes everyone is on the same attack vector, allowing G.I. Joe to join in on the Enemy Mine.
- Took a Level In Jerkass: Scarlett takes one for the crossover being pigheaded, arrogant and outright hostile, even to her own soldiers.
