SD Sengokuden Bushin Kourin Hen is a subline of Bandai's SD Gundam franchise.
The rising popularity of BB Senshi Sangokuden led to Bandai doing the same thing with another oft-fictionalised era of history, Japan's own Warring States period. Unlike Sangokuden, the model line is not supported by a comic or any specific storyline, but runs entirely on recreating known samurai, based on remolding early SD Gundams and basing them on the character designs from Koei's Samurai Warriors games.
The models released thus far are:
- Takeda Shingen Gundam (archetype is the original RX-78-2)
- Kenshin Uesugi Gundam (archetype is the Zeta Gundam)
- Kanetsugu Naoe Gundam (archetype is the RX-178 Gundam mk II)
- Date Masamune Gundam (actually based on a ninja-type SD Gundam instead of samurai)
- Sanada Yukimura Gundam (archtype is the Nu Gundam)
- Oda Nobunaga Gundam (first large-size model)
- Toyotomi Hideyoshi Gundam (archetype is the Gundam F91)
- Tokugawa Ieyasu Gundam (archetype is very similar to Takeda Shingen)
Sengokuden Bushin Kourin has examples of:[]
- BFG (Yes folks, samurais with rifles)
- BFK
- Blade on a Stick
- Bling of War
- Combining Mecha (Kenshin Uesugi and Tokugawa Ieyasu - with their horses)
- Cool Horse
- Cool Shades (Kanetsugu Naoe)
- Everything's Better with Samurai (Duh.)
- Expy (Takeda Shingen Gundam looks similar to the Musha Gundam)
- Eyepatch of Power (Date Masamune)
- Fashionable Asymmetry (Date Masamune)
- Fuuma Shuriken (leftover from Date Masamune's archetype)
- Hey, It's That Guy! (Takeda Shingen, possibly the most recognisable of the lot as he's based on the original and oft-remade Musha Gundam, even retaining the signature black and red)
- Homage to Koei's Samurai Warriors
- Jidai Geki
- Mooks (each model comes with a footsoldier based on the Zaku I or Ball)
- Nice Hat (this is the first part that gets remolded usually)
