- Americans Hate Tingle:
- The English-speaking fans are absolutely discouraged by the existence of the Kenshin Himura figure from Rurouni Kenshin before it was released, likely stemming to the controversy regarding the manga's author.
- And the Fandom Rejoiced:
- After 11 years in limbo, the once-unreleased Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam finally gets an update on April 2025, likely milking his popularity due to his reappearance in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.
- Fountain of Memes:
- Two versions of Anya Forger from Spy X Family.
- Ever since its reveal, the HOT LIMIT version of the Takanori Nishikawa immediately gained this status when it arrives to the Japanese buyers' hands.
- The Inspector Chan Ka Kui figure from Police Story.
- It's the Same, Now It Sucks: For some, the Dragon Ball lineup, especially rehashed/re-releases of the same characters.
- Improved Second Attempt: Most of the "Shinkocchou Seihou" figures of already-released characters, such as the first Ultraman, Gokai Red from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, and Kamen Rider Ichigo.
- Memetic Loser:
- Among the many unreleased Gundam characters and a few released ones such as Suletta Mercury, Miorine Rembran and Guel Jeturk from The Witch from Mercury, Char Aznable once gained infamy as an unreleased figure, as his existence is usually bought up whenever Bandai reveals a new Gundam pilot figure for the line.
- More Popular Replacement: Some of the Pre-Shinkocchou Seihou "Renewal" versions of the previously-released ones such as Kamen Rider BLACK and RX.
- The Scrappy:
- The Guts and Griffith figures from Berserk; Both figures were quite expensive, with Guts priced at $130 and Griffith at $200. Unfortunately, both figures had several major issues. Guts had poor articulation, tended to fall apart easily, and had a frustrating cape piece. Additionally, the wrist pegs were too small to hold the sword, some joints could snap easily, and the figure overall looked like a puppet. Griffith faced similar problems as Guts, and the horse that came with the figure was non-articulated, unlike other companies' articulated horse figures available for a much lower price. Both figures received significant criticism for these issues. Fortunately, Bandai improved their products with the later Armored Guts figure, bringing some relief to Berserk fans.
- So Okay It's Average:
- The Luffy and Zoro figures from the 2023 live-action One Piece series.
- Tainted by the Preview:
- Those who were waiting for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters to have their SHF iterations will be somewhat disappointed to the fact that Kishibe Rohan, which is based on his live-action appearance in the Rohan au Louvre movie, is made instead.
- When it comes to notoriety/infamy of the characters:
- The DC Extended Universe incarnation of The Flash/Barry Allen immediately received plenty of scorn upon its first reveal (to the point where they want Bandai to immediately cancel it before it was even released), likely owning to the controversy of his actor, Ezra Miller.
- Though averted due to him ending up being released behind the Tamashii Webshop/Premium Bandai paywall, some Star Wars fans questioned Bandai creating an SHF iteration of Jar Jar Binks from The Phantom Menace before they could confirm the previously-revealed General Grievous.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
- Just about every single one of the displayed-yet-unreleased/canceled characters, which includes:
- Gundam: The original 0079 series' Char Aznable (though no longer the case after its update on April 2025), G Gundam's Domon Kasshu (Civilian), Rain Mikamura, Allenby Beardsley, and recently; the SEED TV series version of Kira Yamato.
- Spider-Man: No Way Home's "The Amazing Spider-Man", though this was released without the Andrew Garfield head for right issues-related reasons.
- "The Real Folk Blues" version of Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop.
- As of 2024, the General Grievous figure, first revealed on 2016, has likely been shafted in favor to other Star Wars characters. Fortunately, it took 9 years for him to get an eventual release.
- Just about every single one of the displayed-yet-unreleased/canceled characters, which includes:
- Uncanny Valley: Some figures of live-action human or human-like characters tend to suffer from this due to some of their open-mouth faceplates being too close to realistic.
- Uncertain Audience: Some of the figures, especially from some live-action works like Rebel Moon.
- Unexpected Character:
- Jamiroquai, aka Jay Kay.
- While the articulated versions of the characters are largely made by other brands' lineups (figma, Cu-Poche), the Tamashii Web Shop and Asobi Store-exclusive Makoto Kikuchi from The Idolmaster franchise is certainly a surprise addition.
- After the release of the live-action iteration of Rohan Kishibe, the protagonists from the original JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga finally get their SHF treatments.
