Our Hero

Transfer student Manabizaki Kyou is a swot, a person who spends too much time studying. His dream is to attend Tokyo University and then build a UFO! He will soon discover, however, that the high school he's transferred into, which was once very prestigious, has taken in delinquents from the surrounding schools. Now it is full of violence and gang fights.

Luckily, Manabizaki has a surprising skill at fighting, particularly when he's defending the peace of his study area. Through this strength he'll find his new friends, a weak boy called Iwashida Touji and a legendary Delinquent girl, Hasuno Nene, who makes him feel things that, for the first time in his life, he can't explain...

Tropes used in SWOT include:

• Action Girl: Hasuno Nene
• After the End: Holy shit, not only the school but outside looks like a scene from Akira, then they walk into a Maid Cafe...
• Awesomeness By Analysis: Manabizaki big time. He fights by running probability simulations of what the opponent's next move is going to be.
  • According to Nene that means that he is not strong at all. For whatever reason...
    • That would suggest that instead of having superior physical strength, he's Weak but Skilled (for a given definition of Weak, anyway...)
• Badass Bookworm: Do not interrupt Manabizaki when he's reading a book, or he'll kick your ass.
• Berserk Button: Manabizaki has a few: call him stupid, hit his head, or interrupt his study time.
• Big Damn Heroes: Manabizaki has had a few of these.
• Blatant Lies: Skeleton High school claims to have an 80% acceptance rate to Tokyo University. Manabizaki was not pleased when he discovered the lie. Then it was revealed this was a Xanatos Roulette by the principal to get a powerful student to control the delinquents.
• Blind Without'Em: Manabizaki takes a test with broken glasses and gets an 8 on it...
  • During chapter 9, though, he fights completely without glasses.
• Blood Knight: Koumori Chikage

• Cloudcuckoolander: Manabizaki is a relatively mild example, but his life goal is to make a flying saucer and visit other planets. See also Crazy Prepared for what he did in relation to said goal.
• Crazy Prepared: Manabizaki learned to fight just in case he met hostile aliens while exploring the galaxy with his UFO...
• Crouching Scholar Hidden Badass: Manabizaki
• Crowning Moment of Funny: For Toudou, this.
• Curb Stomp Battle: All but one of Manabizaki's fights so far.
• Cut Short: Due to the cancellation of the manga, the series ends rather abruptly at chapter 20.
• Defeat Means Friendship: In true Shonen fighting Manga fashion, Manabizaki allies up with the group he just defeated.
• Determinator: Iwashida once he decides to stop running.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Go ahead, interrupt Manabizaki's study time. I dare you.
• Fan Service: Hasuno in a maid outfit. Nuff said.
• Fight Magnet: Manabizaki, thanks to his berserk buttons and his tendency to insult everyone.
• Flechette Storm: Manabizaki executes one with pencils.
• Foe-Tossing Charge: Manabizaki on his way to save Hasuno from Koumori.

• Hospital Hottie: Iwashida's older sister is a hot nurse. Many of the nurses in the hospital she works in are equally hot.
• Hot-Blooded: Manabizaki
• Indirect Kiss: Manabizaki is excited about finishing the unfinished juice can Hasuno offered to him. He is pissed when it gets spilled before he can take a sip.
• Improbable Weapon User: Did he just punch a guy with a book?
• Insufferable Genius: A mild case but Manabizaki is very, very proud of how smart he is.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Manabizaki. Although he'll vehemently deny the heart of gold part.
• Ki Attacks: Revolving around Resolve and Reverse Resolve.
• Love Triangle: Chapter 12 shows that Okiku has developed feelings for Manabizaki, who is oblivious and interested in Hasuno. Hasuno herself has noticed Okiku's feelings for him and seems a bit uncomfortable about them.
• Meido: Okiku becomes one after she's saved from Toudou. Also, there are tons of maids at Kirishima's "Best Place".
• Mr. Exposition: Iwashida
• Resignations Not Accepted: Either the Bats policy is this, or Koumori is just a Blood Knight.
• Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Iwashida and Manabizaki. The trope is played with in that the "manly man" was initially dismissed as a weak, defenseless nerd.
• Serious Business: For Manabizaki, studying is serious business. Deadly serious.
• Shipper on Deck: Iwashida can't resist teasing Manabizaki about his obvious crush on Hasuno.

• Throw the Book At Them: Books are Manabizaki's Weapon of Choice; he uses them as both sword and shield.
• Tired of Running: Iwashida, who ran so much before he met Manabizaki that he was known as Coward. He decided to fight after meeting Manabizaki, and well, he didn't go down...
• Tsundere: Manabizaki is a rare male example. He didn't come save you, he's just on his way to the test and the bad guys got in the way...
• Underestimating Badassery: Everyone to Manabizaki at the start.
• What Is This Thing You Call Love?: Manabizaki is confused by this concept of love.
• The Wonka: a more accurate description of Manabizaki, especially if he actually accomplishes his goals.
• World of Badass: Okay, School Of Badass. However, given the insanely high number of ridiculously powerful people seen so far, it wouldn't be a surprise at all if the rest of Manabizaki's neighborhood is similarly predisposed.
