As he sees the world for the first time (literally, he was blind until then), he finally recognizes that, although life is far from perfect, it isn't as desolate and hopeless as he used to think: humans are able to live happily because, while they suffer and hunger, they still can find comfort and count on one another, and even laugh together every now and then. He realizes that life is made beautiful by the little things he used to ignore.
