Founded in 1976 after A-Productions split off from TMS (its name means "New A" in Japanese), the studio is mostly known for Doraemon and Shin Chan. Shin-Ei Doga also did most of Fujiko F Fujio's manga-to-anime adaptations after 1979, Haré + Guu, and season 3 and after of Stitch! as well.
Since 2009, the studio has been a wholly owned subsidiary of TV Asahi. Prior to that, it did produce some shows that aired on rival networks. Its headquarters are currently located in the Tanashi Town area of Nishi-Tokyo.
