In all seriousness, this show is even worse about this than even iCarly was. If we listed out everything in full detail, we'd be here until the second coming so we'll give you the SparksNotes version.

  • Keith is a weird mix of Ambiguously Bi and Celibate Hero. On one hand he has buttloads of Ship Tease with Shiro, but on the other he and Lance are Vitriolic Best Buds and even those who don't ship them can see where some may read the Foe Yay as coming from. Klance shippers, as they're called, are in a constant state of war with Sheith (Shiro/Keith) with each camp demonizing the other (Klance fans say Sheith supports pedophilia and makes Shiro a predator, while Sheith fans say Lance is abusive towards precious cinnamon roll Keith). To make matters worse, Klance is one of this show's Vocal Minorities and, like any Vocal Minority on any other show, violently lashes out at everyone, not just other fans but even the show's creators and the actors for anything that goes against their ship. And like every Vocal Minority, this had led to all the other fans assuming that all Klance fans are raving lunatics, when... well, not everyone is.
    • Shiro/X Paladin also tends to get this treatment from those who ship "X" with anyone else given the age gap between Shiro and the other Paladins. To be fair, the age gap is not that large (7-8 years at the most), but everyone else is still a minor and this leads to Shiro shippers being viewed, as said above, as supporting pedophilia.
  • Oh the war between Allura/Lance and Allura/Lotor. It's a classic Betty and Veronica IN SPACE! Lance shippers argue (not fully without reason) that Lotor is an unrepentant mass-murderer and wanna-be god while accusing him (again, not without reason), of abusing and manipulating Allura. Lotor shippers go the full Ron the Death Eater route for poor Lance, saying he acts like he's entitled towards Allura and even accusing him of sexually harassing her (when, while he WAS pretty annoying regarding here at the start, part of his Character Development involving him coming to genuinely like her). When Allura/Lance became canonized and Lotor was shown to be Evil All Along (or at most, a ruthless Anti-Villain), flaming erupted.
  • And to show how serious this is, Sheith shippers, alias the other Vocal Minority, of the show have been known to bash poor Adam. Yes, the bit character who does not do, or even say, anything noteworthy and is only there to establish that Shiro is gay and had a failed almost-marriage, and to him and Adam being Star-Crossed Lovers.. Adam's failed past with Shiro should be a free pass for Sheith shippers but... well everyone know what fans are like. Sheith fans were so jealous of Adam that they accused him of being the only one to blame for his and Shiro's break-up, never-mind that both had parts on it, and compared him not mollycoddling Shiro about his decisions as him being inferior to Keith as a lover.
    • When Keith got Ship Tease with the Lady of War Acxa in Season 7, Sheith fans started either screaming at the possibility of Keith being straight or straight-leaning bi, or passive-aggressively decrying Acxa as "not a threat" when it was clear that her mere presence made them insecure, or insisting that Acxa would eventually be revealed as Keith's half-sister since his still-living mother Krolia is a Galra and Acxa herself is half-Galra too. Which, needless to say, didn't happen.
  • It became EVEN WORSE in Season 8, where Shiro and Keith stayed friends — and Shiro married Curtis, the Communications Officer of the Atlas; the Sheith fans immediately screamed in horror at the sight of their ship being sunk (after many of them arrogantly assumed it'd be canon due to all the Ship Tease), and start bashing both the ship and the character that "ruined" theirs, even accusing the show-runners of being homophobes and queer-baiters for not canonizing it. Because onscreen gay weddings and kisses are homophobic and gross if the ones involved are one half of a popular ship... and the other person is not.
  • Some Keith/Lance shippers have gone as far as to treat Allura/Lance as a case of Ship Sinking due to the pair becoming Star-Crossed Lovers following Allura's Heroic Sacrifice at the end, dismissing their relationship as little more than a footnote in the series or accusing it of being a Romantic Plot Tumor (when it only took up about a fourth of season 8's screen time) or "ruining" Lance's character (when he'd shown his devotion to her as well as his growing maturity as early as season 4). Many even claim their ship may as well be canon since Keith ended the series single and Allura is gone - completely ignoring the fact that not only did Lance more or less say he'd love Allura forever, but that the ending hinted that she CAN return after a while and that the Lions are implied to have gone off to find her.
  • Shiro/Allura fans became so invested in their ship, watching and rewatching and creating all kinds of meta and headcanon as to why Shiro and Allura would be the ideal couple. When Shiro's sexuality reveal jossed their ship, a Vocal Minority went berserk, accusing the writers of "forcing" Shiro being gay in their faces as well Shiro slash shippers of attacking them right and left. They especially blamed Keith for being Shiro's most popular pairing and "stealing everything away from him" and scoffed at the budding romance between Lance and Allura, claiming Lance wasn't good enough for her.
    • That said, many Shiro slash shippers could be quite rude to people who shipped Shiro with female characters and didn't act like huge victims about it. Their preferred victims were Shiro/Pidge shippers (whose ship was both M/F and a May-December Romance), but catfights with Shiro/Allura fans weren't unheard of. And ironically, many of these Shiro slashers are Sheith shippers - alias the same ones who complain endlessly about how bullied they are in fandom.
  • All three of the big Shiro ships; Shiro/Adam, Shiro/Allura, and Shiro/Keith; will however unite at the drop of a hat to stand together against Shiro/Curtis.
    • That said, some Shiro/Curtis fans are not innocent, as a Vocal Minority has lashed out against all Shiro/Keith fans and accused all of them of hating on the ship and on Curtis.
  • A smaller but still potent shipping war arose after season seven, where Pidge and Lance shared a few platonic but meaningful moments that turned Plance shippers from a chill side group into frothing maniacs shrieking that their ship was totally endgame. Some even made edits of Allura and Lance's date in the season eight premiere replacing Allura with Pidge, while many fan writers ignored the showrunners' assertions that Allura will be able to return to the others after she's finished repairing the broken realities she sacrificed herself to heal in the finale, and the show's assertion that Lance will love her and only her forever in order to have Lance hook up with Pidge post-series.
