Basic Trope: A character in a work is attracted to one person, and only that one person.

  • Straight: Alice, an Asexual person, finds she has sexual feelings for Carol.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Justified: Alice is demisexual, and Carol has been her friend since childhood.
  • Inverted: Alice is attracted to everybody except Carol.
  • Subverted: Alice is attracted to only Carol, but then she gets sexual feelings for Charlie.
  • Double Subverted: But Charlie is a male-clone of Carol, so they're pretty much the same person.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Deconstructed: Alice was so confident of her asexuality that feeling this way about Carol has thrown her whole mind into doubt about who she is. She starts attempting relationships with other people to try to find out her sexuality.
  • Reconstructed: Alice quickly finds that she is sexually attracted to nobody except Carol.
  • Averted: Alice is Asexual, and never gets sexual feelings about anybody.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "I'm not gay! I'd love Carol even if she was a guy!"
  • Invoked: Bob drops hints that Carol wants to date Alice as a joke, causing Alice to spit out that she loves Carol. Just as Bob planned.

  • Defied: "No, I don't love Carol. I don't love anybody that way, actually."

  • Conversed: ???
  • Played For Laughs: Alice's Carol-sexuality becomes a joke among her friends, but when Carol finds out the two immediately start dating. Cue everybody's jaw dropping.
  • Played For Drama: Alice is too shy to tell Carol her feelings and becomes the Unlucky Childhood Friend of Carol's, being unable to love anybody but her. The strain begins to tell as Carol goes through boyfriend after boyfriend without a hint of homosexuality.
