  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

Skylanders: Swap Force is the third game in the Skylanders series, released in 2013, available on the Nintendo 3DS, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the first game in the franchise to have versions on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It was developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision.

This game introduces the SWAP Force, a group of sixteen Skylanders who protected the Cloudbreak Islands and its magical volcano. During an epic battle against Kaos' mother, the SWAP Force were caught in the eruption of the volcano, granting them the ability to swap halves. They were, however, sent to Earth as a result. One hundred years later, the SWAP Force Skylanders have been discovered and the volcano is about to erupt again.

In addition to an element, each SWAP Force character also has one of eight possible ability types, which come with the bottom half. The ability types allow them to enter specific SWAP Force areas focusing on that specific game mechanic. With detachable top and bottom halves, SWAP Force characters have a total of 256 different swapped combinations (not counting variants such as Dark Blast Zone).

The game also introduces sixteen new Core Skylanders, eight LightCores (including LightCore versions of returning characters without Series 2 or 3 versions), and sixteen Series 2 and 3 reposes of Cores from the previous two games, as well as many new variant Skylanders.

This game introduces the Dark Starter Packs, which include Dark counterparts of the characters in the main Starter Pack. This also means Spyro is no longer the only Skylander with a Dark counterpart.

The game received positive reviews from many reviewers such as Venture Beat, Game Informer and IGN, with reviewers praising the introduction of the jump and the new characters.
