Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric Cover Art

Sonic Boom is a new sub-series of Sonic the Hedgehog games, meant to work together with the television series (though the two in fact contrast).

On the Wii U, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was released. The evil Lyric is awakened on accident by Sonic after entering a tomb to evade Eggman's forces, and Lyric soon makes an alliance with the doctor. This allegiance is short-lived, however... The gameplay is influenced by PS2-era platformers such as Jak and Daxter, along with the Lego Adaptation Games. Given the reaction to the game, expect this to be the only one of its kind

The 3DS receives a series of Metroidvania titles, the first of which is Shattered Crystal, where Lyric kidnaps Amy and Sonic must unite with his other friends to save her. The sequel is Fire and Ice, which is much closer to the TV show in tone, with Eggman trying to create robots to outrun Sonic and humiliate him, and then create a powerful robot named D-Fekt to mine for Ragnium.
