These characters are allies to Sonic, but they usually don't have the same central role that Tails and Knuckles do.

Team Rose

A bit more loose as a group than the other teams, they have only had one constant member: Amy. The second member is usually Cream, but in Team Sonic Racing she is replaced by a bunch of Chao. Their muscle alternates between each of their appearances. Usually it is Big. In Sonic Free Riders, it was Vector. In the non-game-Canon comic Sonic Universe, it was Blaze (although Blaze is less of a muscle character).

• Cast Herd: Though not as tight as the other teams. Amy is usually helping Team Sonic instead of managing her own team.

A pink hedgehog girl who really wants Sonic to be her boyfriend. Originally a young girl with a Precocious Crush, she was later revamped to be closer to Sonic's age while still going hog-wild over him.

• Action Girl: Starts turning into one in Sonic Adventure, and fully blossoms into one by Sonic Battle.
• Art Evolution Here's what she used to look like. She was once 8, sporting that look.
• Ascended Fangirl: Started off as a Fan Girl with a Precocious Crush, but has since become one of Sonic's closest friends.
• Badass Adorable: Her weirdness can sometimes obstruct the "Adorable" part, though.
• Badass Normal: In games where she doesn't have super speed.
• Berserk Button: See Mama Bear. Also, suggesting that Sonic doesn't return her feelings.
• Blow You Away:Several attacks in several games show her to have tornado based hammer swings.

She has managed to make a combat robot, a pissed-off super-being in the midst of a Roaring Rampage of Revenge, and a vengeful psyker all back down, triggering a Heel Face Turn from two of them in the process. This is (at least part of) the reason why she's a Morality Pet.
• Heart Beat-Down : Has had few heart themed attacks since Sonic Adventure 2.
• Hey, It's That Voice!: Jennifer Douillard (1998-2004) and Lisa Ortiz (2003-2010).
• Hopeless Suitor: Amy loves Sonic, but Sonic isn't interested, no matter what Amy or her fans tell themselves. It doesn't help that, while Sonic clearly at least cares about her as a friend (and occasionally more), Amy is very... adamant... about tying Sonic down. Sometimes more than others.
• Hostage for Macguffin: In Sonic Adventure 2, she served as this for Eggman in exchange for a Chaos Emerald. As well as to lure Sonic into a Death Trap. Good thing he figured out how to use Chaos Control, or he would've been space dust.
• I Know Mortal Kombat: Doing Boxercise to lose weight taught her to actually punch people.
• Image Song: "My Sweet Passion"
• The Ingenue: During her debut in Sonic CD, Amy filled the role of the innocent damsel in distress. This role has since been passed to Cream.
• Intergenerational Friendship: She's twice Cream's age, but they are shown to be close friends, almost akin to Sonic and Tails'.
• Invisibility: In Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, for some reason.
• Jack of All Stats: She's in between Sonic and Knuckles in terms of speed and strength (thanks to her Piko Piko Hammer). She's even labeled as a Balanced Character in Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games.
• Japanese Pronouns: "Atashi".
• The Knights Who Say Squee: She's become a bit of a heroine in her own right, but she's still crazy for Sonic.
• The Leader: When Team Rose is assembled, she's going to be the leader.
• Loony Fan: As a result of Flanderization, though this has gotten better as of late, depending on the game.
• Love Makes You Crazy: Could be the reason or result of Flanderization.
• Mama Bear: In Sonic 2006. About ready to kick Silver's ass when he was going to finish Sonic off.

• Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome: Between Sonic the Hedgehog CD and Sonic Adventure. The Archie comics turned this into a Plot-Relevant Age-Up by providing a handwave. Generations seems to be doing away with this by implying that the entire cast had aged normally from kids to young teens between the Genesis and Dreamcast games - Amy's just had the most obvious change.
• Species Surname: Her full name, according to Sonic Chronicles, is "Amy Rose the Hedgehog", though this has yet to appear in other sources.

• Took a Level In Badass: Largely her plot in Sonic Adventure; keeps increasing from there.

• Violently Protective Girlfriend: Well, self-proclaimed girlfriend, at least.
• Weight Woe: In Sonic Battle, Amy is obsessed with boxercise and dieting in order to get in shape and impress Sonic, using Emerl as a coach.

Cream the Rabbit

A very young rabbit who is overly polite, and whose best friend is a Chao named Cheese. She is the only character with a visible family member in the games who isn't dead: a loving, caring mother named Vanilla. And she has another Chao, named Chocola.

Very large purple cat who lives in the forest with his best friend, a frog named Froggy. He primary trait is his strength that rivals that of Knuckles. His true motives are that frog, unless you are playing Chronicles...

First appeared in Knuckles Chaotix, where they team up with Knuckles to foil one of Robotnik's plans. Consists of Vector the Crocodile, a music lover with a Brooklyn accent; Espio the Chameleon, a Ninja with powers of invisibility; hyperactive kid Charmy Bee; the pacifistic Mighty the Armadillo (one time member of the group); and robots Heavy and Bomb. Dropped off the radar until Sonic Heroes, where Vector, Espio, and Charmy run a detective agency (Mighty, Heavy, and Bomb are still AWOL). The Archie comics have developed the Chaotix into Knuckles's supporting Five-Man Band and added new members.

• Adult Child: Vector, though the oldest of the team, has moments where he doesn't act quite his age. Arguing constantly with six-year-old Charmy doesn't help much.
• Beware My Stinger Tail: Charmy, of course.
• Big Eater: Vector, who dreams of having 50 five-course meals in Sonic Free Riders.
• Black Eyes: The main three in their first appearance.
• Bratty Half-Pint: Charmy, much to Vector's annoyance.
• Breath Weapon: Vector in Heroes.
• Brown Eyes: Vector.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: The Chaotix are goofy, clumsy, and mostly inefficient as detectives, but they always get the job done.
• Butt Monkey: Vector in particular in the Archie comics, though the whole team often act as luckless comic relief in most incarnations (particularly in Sonic X).
• Canon Dis Continuity: As far as Sega is concerned, Chaotix isn't part of the series and Sonic Heroes is the team's official debut, meaning that Heavy and Bomb do not exist.
• Canon Immigrant: Most characters were brought in from elsewhere in the Sonic mythos: Charmy came from an obscure old manga, and Vector was a rejected concept for the very first Sonic.
• Cast Herd: They are rarely ever seen apart.
  • Except in Sonic Free Riders, where Vector is part of Team Rose, but the rest of Team Chaotix is neither seen nor mentioned.
  • Espio works alongside Silver in Sonic Rivals 2. At least Vector actually has something to do with this game.
  • Vector's the only member who shows up in Sonic Chronicles, but the other two get mentioned (and even then, only as "Team Chaotix").

GUN Commander: "Vector the Crocodile and Team Chaotix have volunteered to scout for further clues. They're on the channel now." Vector: "Yo, Sonic. It's about time you came back."

• • Vector is the only playable one in the Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games series, but Espio and Charmy routinely appear as officials or NPCs.
• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Heavy and Bomb, who disappeared almost immediately even in the comics (though they would resurface much later apart from the Chaotix).
• Cloudcuckoolander: Charmy. Vector has his moments as well, especially in Sonic X.
• The Comically Serious: Espio's attempts to uphold a mystical and dignified composure are usually destroyed by his wackier teammates.
• Cross-Dressing Voices: Charmy, again.
• Death By Adaptation: Heavy and Bomb in the Archie comics. They aren't in the Fleetway comic at all.

• Goggles Do Nothing: Charmy rarely, if ever, wears his helmet-goggles over his eyes.
• Green-Eyed Monster: In Sonic X at least, the Chaotix are occasionally shown to resent Sonic for his popularity and bravado, while they struggle to make ends meet as detectives.

  • Vector can hurl Classic Sonic along a trajectory in Generations, making his name meaningful again.
• Mr. Vice Guy: Vector is not only the greediest, he is gluttonous and somewhat short tempered. Beneath it all however, he's a playful softie, and implied to take a few free cases to those who deserve it.
• Musical Assassin: Their Team Blast in Sonic Heroes destroys robots by singing and playing instruments.
  • Brown Note: They sound dreadful. No wonder Metal Sonic decided to copy their data.
• Ninja: Espio.
• Odd Name Out: Unlike most of the characters' names, Charmy's don't seem particularly meaningful. Vector's name was initially meaningful, but became this as of Sonic Heroes.
  • In the original western bios at least, Charmy was stated as having a polite demeanor about him, ie. a charming personality. Given his later incarnation's character, his name could almost be considered ironic.
• Only Sane Man: Of the three, Espio.
• Perpetual Poverty
• Petal Power: Espio can make a storm of leaves in Heroes.
• Playing with Fire: One of Vector's attacks in Sonic Heroes has him spitting out flames.

  • Comic Trio: Vector is the schemer, Charmy is the dumb follower, Espio is reasonable but powerless.

• Reptiles Are Abhorrent: Subverted with Vector and Espio for the most part. While they have their obnoxious aspects, they are both thoroughly benevolent characters.
• Ret-Gone: Heavy and Bomb, who haven't appeared since the now non-canon Knuckles' Chaotix.
• Shout-Out: In Sonic Free Riders Vector has a green and black motorcycle called Hard Boiled. Why does that sound familliar?
• The Stoic: Espio, who usually shares Straight Man duties with Vector.
• Super Speed: Espio is the "Speed" of the three.
• Super Strength: Vector is the "Power" of the three.
• Teleporters and Transporters: Charmy can do this by pollinating flowers.
• The Power of Rock: Their blast attack in Sonic Heroes.
• Token Wholesome: These characters wear more clothing than other males, with Charmy wearing the most.
• Trademark Favourite Food: Charmy's is, fittingly, honey. Vector has a huge appetite, but bubblegum seems to be his personal favorite. Espio supposedly likes apples.

Blaze the Cat

"I have to live with my curse.... my flames... because of my powers, I have always been alone... so that's why I must do this alone... I have to do this myself!"

A fire-wielding cat from, ah, someplace else (probably another dimension). Guardian of the Sol Emeralds.

• A-Cup Angst: Word of God, shown on some model sheets and interviews, is that Blaze feels...inadequate compared to her cohorts. Especially Rouge and Bunnie.

• Action Girl
• Adorkable: Whenever her shyness or fear of heights comes to the forefront.
• Anti-Heroine: Starts out as Type III, being an antisocial loner. She evolves into more of a pure hero over the course of Sonic Rush Series with Cream's influence.
• Badass Princess
• Bare Your Midriff: In Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games.
• Barrier Maiden: She becomes Iblis's new can. Then the reset button got pushed...
• Beneath the Mask: She comes across as level-headed and reserved, but is far more emotional and insecure than she lets on, though these traits do come to surface from time to time in some games.
• Berserk Button: Don't tell her why you'd put the world in danger, like for gaining ultimate power, or to make it your plaything; you're just going to unleash her repressed anger issues.
• Brutal Honesty: If the Bratty Half-Pint is a nuisance, she'll tell it to her face.
  • Compassionate Critic: It's implied that she only did this so Marine wouldn't follow them into danger and get herself hurt. The cutscene where it happens is even titled Cruel to Be Kind.
• Cats Are Mean: Averted, actually. While Blaze does have some short-tempered moments here and there, she's not entirely a jerk.
• Cats Are Snarkers: She usually has some snarky moments, but she still means well.
• Cool Big Sis: Has played this role towards Silver (despite being the same age), Cream, and it's implied she may have become one to Marine.
• Combat Stilettos
• The Comically Serious: Her poor social skills (and being the one serious-minded member of the team) lean her into this, Depending on the Writer at least.
• Continuity Snarl: Not even Sega themselves can decide whether she is from the future (according to Sonic '06) or another dimension (according to the Sonic Rush series).
  • Sonic Generations has resolved this by going with the Rush origin for her... Only to mess it up further when she says "I never thought I would be in Crisis City again."
• Cute Little Fangs: In Sonic Generations.
• Don't Call Me Your Highness: Hates it when Guardon calls her Your Highness, and frequently corrects him.

An ancient robot called a Gizoid that can learn to copy the traits and skills of others; Emerl is a unique model that can also absorb Chaos energies. Said to have wiped out the civilization that made him. However, he picks up better traits by hanging out with Sonic and his friends — but has to be destroyed once his old programming kicks in.

Only appears in Sonic Battle, but has been referred to since. Sonic Advance 3 has Robotnik build his own Gizoid, Gemerl, that can merge with machines. Sonic Chronicles later explains that he and the rest of the Gizoids were made by the Nocturnus clan of echidnas.

• Anti-Anti-Christ: To a degree. He was the most powerful of many robots with the power to level an entire civilization. Emerl, thanks to the bond he created with Sonic & co., goes on to help save the world... at the cost of his life.

One of the more obscure Sonic characters, Mighty the Armadillo is an old friend of Sonic the Hedgehog. He is similar in speed to Sonic, but is apparently stronger, hence his name. He has made two appearances: 1993's Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Arcade game, and Knuckles Chaotix in 1995. For a long time, has not appeared since, save for a nod to him via a missing poster in Sonic Generations. With that said, he has made infrequent appearances in the Archie Sonic comic series. Finally made his return to games in 2018 with Sonic Mania Plus, although it is an alternate reality version of him in the "Classic" reality.

• Black Eyes: In his game appearances.
• Blue Eyes: In his comic appearances.
• The Cameo: On a missing poster in Sonic Generations.
• Canon Dis Continuity: His Chaotix appearance is treated as such, hence why his missing poster says "Missing since 1993", not "Missing since 1995".
