- Banned in China: The show as a whole was banned in Kenya in the middle of Season 1 because it promoted homosexuality. Because of this, Seasons 2 to 4 were never released in sub-saharan Africa.
- Executive Meddling: Star was originally going to be an elementary school-aged kid with a hyperactive imagination who thinks she actually has magic powers. Sometime after Daron Nefcy pitched the show to Disney Channel, the network asked Nefcy make Star a 14-year-old princess with real magic powers. Unlike most examples of this trope, this decision actually worked in the show's favor, and Nefcy was actually happy the higher-ups gave her an idea she didn't even consider.
- Jossed: "Princess Turdina" pretty much debunks the popular fan theory that Marco is secretly a trans girl.
- No Export for You: Anything beyond the middle of Season 1 in sub-saharan Africa (including South Africa). What is weird is that South Africa prohibits discrimination of homosexuals.
- The Other Darrin: After Glossaryck's original voice actor, Jefferey Tambor, was fired from Disney due to sexual abuse allegations, he was replaced with Keith David for the remainder of the series.
