Stargirl is a 2020 DC Universe live-action web series, based on the comic book of the same name by Geoff Johns, who is also the executive producer on the series.
Tropes used in Stargirl (TV series) include:
- Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Beth Chapel, Rick Tyler and Yolanda Montez have a lot more issues than their comic book counterparts.
- Adaptational Heroism: The Injustice Society call themselves that because they see themselves as lashing out against injustice, and overall they are portrayed as Punch Clock Villains. Subverted with Sportsmaster and Tigress, who are just as nasty as their comic counterparts.
- Adaptational Wimp:
- The comic versions of the Flash and Green Lantern would mop the floor with the Injustice Society roster used in this show. Here, they both get killed OFFSCREEN.
- Likewise, comic Wizard would stomp comic Icicle. Here, Icicle effortlesly kills Wizard.
- Badass Normal: Sportsmaster, Tigress and Artemis don't have powers.
- Belligerent Sexual Tension: Rick (Hourman) and Cameron (Icicle Jr.), escalating in Season 3. It mostly stems from Rick’s hate for the ISA and by extension, Cameron’s father, Icicle. Cameron doesn’t know that his father is a supervillain and is bemused by Rick’s attitude. Rick constantly provokes Cameron.
- Yolanda (Wildcat) and Cindy (Shiv).
- Composite Character: Pat Dugan is Starman.
- Death by Adaptation:
- Most of the original members of the Justice Society.
- The Wizard
- Eating Lunch Alone: Beth, Yolanda, and Rick all eat alone at a designated table:
Oh, we're not friends. This is the table for the singles. [whispers] The losers
—Beth to Courtney

- Healing Factor: Shiv.
- An Ice Person: Icicle
- The Juggernaut: Solomon Grundy
- Legacy Character: Doctor Midnite, Hourman, Wildcat and Fiddler. Stargirl herself sort of counts.
- Legion of Doom: The Injustice Society.
- Mind Over Matter: Brainwave.
- Playing with Fire: Shiv's staff shoots fire.
- Our Zombies Are Different: Solomon Grundy is a Revenant Zombie.
- Race Lift: Tigress is Asian, like the Young Justice version.
- Sequel Hook/Stealth Sequel: The show is all about the Legacy Characters of the dead heroes taking the mantle and starting their superhero careers. Since one of those dead heroes is Jay Garrick, that means we may see this show's version of Barry Allen, which itself opens the door for him and the other heroes to meet the other Barry Allen (however, see the Trivia page for more on that).
- Super Strength: Solomon Grundy and Hourman.
- Truer to the Text:
- Solomon Grundy, compared to the versions in Arrow and Gotham.
- Artemis sheds the Adaptational Heroism that Young Justice and Arrow gave her. She's also her own character, as opposed to being Evelyn Sharp's superheroine identity
- Tigress is Paula Crock (Arrow and Gotham used Canon Foreigners).
- The second Fiddler is the one from the comics rather than the Canon Foreigner from The Flash. Likewise, she has her comic book origins rather than the Metahuman of the Week approach that The Flash took.
- Wolverine Claws: Shiv.
- Younger and Hipper
