Strange Flesh is an adult Bara Genre Beat'Em Up game made by Greatest Bear Studios.

You play as The Bartender, a master of hypnosis and a servant of the titular bar. In the game, you'll infiltrate the mind of a troubled patron, a middle-aged man named Joe, and help him out in any way that you see appropriate.

With graphics and art by blazingcheeks, coding done by Ursa Maximus, and sound by Fann, this game began development in 2015, and was eventually released for Windows and Mac on October 24th, 2017.

This game can be found for free download on the Greatest Bear Studios website and on itch.io. (Warning: NSFW!)

Tropes used in Strange Flesh include:

  • Alcohol Hic: Dissolution, a sluggish pool of orange booze, causes damage and drunkenness with every hiccup; the Bartender himself will do this during his idle state while intoxicated.
  • All There in the Manual: The game’s manual gives the backstory of Joe, the things that he was obsessed with growing up, and how he eventually became the miserable office slave he is now.
  • And I Must Scream: Losing all of your lives will lead to the Bartender's mind being swallowed up whole.
  • Author Appeal: The creators clearly have an affinity for big gay hunky men with hypnotic cigars.
  • Badass Boast: Innermost Desires Joe gives off one before transforming into the final boss:

J O E: What am I doing with my life? I'm not some OFFICE DRONE!! I'M A PUNK GOD!! (transforms into an punk orc monster) AND YOU'RE NOTHING TO ME!! JUST ANOTHER GROUPIE TO FUCK!

Cquote2
  • Bloodless Carnage: There is no blood present whenever the Bartender punches and kicks his enemies, possibly being justified as they're all imaginary constructs that take place within Joe's head.
  • Book Ends: Right at the end of the tutorial level, you can fool around sexually with a corrupted Joe. Right after you defeat the final boss, you must kiss and fuck him in order to proceed to the room that will decide your ending.
  • Break The Haughty: Played For Laughs as the Bartender is thrusted into various humiliating scenarios in the different Game Over screens at the hands of the Joes.
  • Cigar Chomper: The Bartender, in which the game manual blatantly describes him as a cigar aficionado; he can use his smoke to corrupt enemies, hypnotize unsuspecting men, and his Video Game Lives are even represented as cigars themselves!
  • A Date with Rosie Palms: When you successfully corrupt enemies, they will jerk themselves off in any way they possibly can (and as long as they are a Joe, the Bartender can also join in on their fun).
  • Debug Room: After getting all three endings, you will be allowed to access this room, where you get to see all of the possible animations and interactions with enemies.
  • Distant Finale: All three endings have the words "Years passed." present right before we see what and how Joe is doing now.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Joes goes to drink every night to take his mind off his terrible life and terrible job.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": The character you control is only known as "The Bartender".
  • Final Boss: J O E, a maniacal punk rock orc who can easily rival the Bartender in terms of physical power.
  • Forceful Kiss: Once you pick up a Joe, you have the option to give him a smoke kiss and turn him into one of your henchmen. (The strongest, hulkiest Joes you encounter in the Den of Lust cannot be taken captive, however.)
  • Freeware Games: This is game to play and download on Greatest Bear Studios' website.
  • Gag Nose: Joe is shown to have a comically big nose; it's one of the few things that remain consistent about his appearance no matter what form or body build he takes.
  • Gag Penis: Pretty much everyone, but the Virus from Venus especially takes the cake with his dick being even bigger than his entire body.
  • Gainaxing: The Bartender’s bulge is shown to jiggle whenever he moves.
  • Game Over: If you lose all of your lives, you’ll get a message that says "Joe's will proved too strong. The Bartender's mind was swallowed whole.", followed by the game over screen corresponding to the level you lost on.
  • Gayngst: Joe is revealed to have his attraction for men completely repressed; his brain on the surface level has numerous signs that say things like "You're NOT gay!" and "Hold a girl and kiss her--she will fight for her man". No matter what ending you get, Joe will come to terms with and happily accept his true sexuality.
  • Golden Ending: The third and best ending (the Boyfriend Ending) can only being achieved if you do not use any save points.
  • The Hedonist: In the Corruption ending, Joe becomes a wild, even more alcoholic punk rock beast who sings what he wants and fucks whomever he pleases, finally free to be the beast he’d always been inside—or at least the beast the bar needs him to be.
  • In Vino Veritas: While sober, The Bartender is The Stoic and quite dominant; when intoxicated, however, he looks and walks very goofy (and is far more likely to trip if he runs), and is quite, erm, submissive instead.
  • Intimate Healing: As your white arousal meter fills up when you land attacks (and it fills up fast when you're drunk), once the bar is full, you can perform sexual acts on a corrupted Joe in order to gain health orbs once you’re finished.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: You, The Bartender, must travel into the mind of Joe in order to help him with his repressed issues and potentially turn him into another henchman at your bar.
  • Luminescent Blush: The initial Joe form gains one as he looks around shyly whenever he watches the Bartender fucking somebody.
  • Manly Gay: The Bartender and Joe, the latter who can become more manly as you make progress in the game.
  • Mean Boss: Joe's boss constantly belittles him for his poor performance at his unhappy job; this is further emphasized by said boss taking the form of a snake monster barking "WORK!" over and over again in the Office of Repression, and posters of his face with the words "Evil Boss" written ontop being scattered throughout the Streets of Liberation.
  • Mental World: When the Bartender, travels into the mind, Joe's mental landscape is shown to have six levels to it: Surface Level, Office of Repression, Streets of Liberation, Garden of Vice, Den of Lust, and Innermost Desires.
  • Mind Control Eyes: Anyone who stays too long in the titular bar will eventually gain pink spirally hypno eyes.
  • Multiple Endings: There are three possible endings:
    • Domination Ending: After the final boss fight, two doors appear. Choosing the door on the left, Joe doesn't go back to work, but instead allows other Masters to guide him forward after the Bartender cuts off his free will. Years pass, and Joe is now a Sex Slave at the bar. From time to time, police come looking for Joe, but they always end up succumbing to the Bartender too.
    • Corruption Ending: Choosing the door on the right, Joe doesn't go back to work; instead, he asks the Bartender if he can play his guitar at the Bar for free after the Bartender plants a seed of perversion inside of his brain. Years pass, and Joe is now an amazingly popular punk rocker at the bar who lives on pleasure.
    • Boyfriend Ending: This ending can only be achieved if the player does not use any save points. Choosing the white doorway to the far right of the room with an exit sign above it, the Bartender leaves Joe to rebuild on his own terms. The anxiety Joe had regarding his sexuality is gone, and he has the courage to quit his office job and pursue a career in music. After years pass, we see Joe on the couch with his new boyfriend, John, celebrating the release of Joe's debut album. At times, Joe's sexual inner beast surfaces, much to John's pleasure, but it remains under control.
  • Not So Stoic: The Bartender may be an unflappable, stone-cold fighter, but he is shown to be quite expressive when he gets drunk.
  • Police Are Useless: In the Domination ending, no matter how many cops shown up to the bar to try and find Joe, they too end up succumbing to the Bartender’s hypnotic smoke.
  • Raging Stiffie: The Joes gain one whenever they watch the Bartender screwing someone; the more wild his current form is, the less likely he is to be ashamed of it and try to hide it.
  • Reality Warper: The Bartender can pick up almost anything despite its size inside of Joe's mind, and can even turn into a One-Winged Angel himself after defeating the final boss.
  • Red Eyes Take Warning: The Bartender can be spotted a mile away that to one of his eyes giving off a red gleam through his sunglasses, and in the Boyfriend ending, thanks to said man’s influence on him, Joe's eyes are shown to gleam red when he becomes horny.
  • Retraux: Along with the retro graphics and sounds, the fake box art on blazingcheek's Furaffinity page even parodies that of a Super Nintendo Entertainment System game.
  • Rule of Symbolism: As you make progress, the mind areas become more clouded with smoke as Joe falls deeper into hypnosis in the outside world.
  • Screw Yourself: It’s possible for two smoke-kissed Joes to suddenly run into and began kissing and groping each other before poofing into Corruption orbs. Then it gets taken up to eleven in the Den of Lust, where there are dozens of Joes shown fucking each other in the background.
  • Seme: The Bartender from is a seme through and through, easily dominating and corrupting many Joes all throughout the latter's brain. When drunk, however...
  • Slasher Smile: The Bartender is normally The Stoic, but his transformed demon form after you defeat the final boss sports a very twisted grin.
  • Uke: The Bartender is usually a seme through and through, easily dominating and corrupting many Joes all throughout the latter's brain. When drunk, however, he prefers to bottom instead.
  • Villain Protagonist: You play as the Bartender, a servant of Strange Flesh who recruits unsuspecting men into the bar in order to corrupt and/or enslave them.
