Non-trope trivia:
- "The Case" was filmed by the kid actors themselves alongside the main film.
- The kid actors got to choose their characters' bikes and Abrams let them keep them after the shooting was over.
- In addition to being on-camera, Bruce Greenwood also served as the Alien's motion capture actor in early tests for the thing. Before the producers decided to make it less humanoid in movement.
- Hey, It's That Guy!:
- Simon Camden is now a stoner. Reverend Camden would be soooo disappointed!
- The science teacher from Gremlins used to work for the government before becoming a teacher.
- That shellshocked CDC scientist is now a Knight Templar Airforce colonel.
- That bomb squad officer is now a sheriff.
- Homer Simpson is a car salesman.
- J.J. Abrams' "good-luck charm" Greg Grunberg makes an extremely fleeting appearance on a TV screen at one point. Bruce Greenwood makes a cameo too, as does frequent Abrams collaborator and composer Michael Giacchino, although his face is certainly less well-known.
- The deputy probably coaches the town's football team, too. Also, he really should have seen the situation coming, what with the fact that he gets tomorrow's paper today. And he recovered really well from Meredith witnessing that bomb blowing him to smithereens at Seattle Grace Hospital.
- AJ Michalka is Charles's sister.
- You'd think Alice's older sister would've seen this coming.(Okay, a stretch, I admit.)
