  • Alternate Character Interpretation: When Superman and Kara are battling on Apokolips, Superman begins to exposit about how Darkseid is controlling her. However, as his speech goes on he becomes less calm and more...enthused. Now he sees the truth, that she can not be reasoned with. His speech becomes more manic as he speaks, and it suddenly seems all too possible that Darkseid never did brainwash Kara at all, and it is Superman who forces her to change loyalty after he has knocked her out. The fact that nothing is ever shown of Darkseid's supposed brainwashing, and Kara does not recant her loyalty to Darkseid until she has already been brought back to Earth, seems to lend credence to this theory.
    • Alternately, Kara was still never brainwashed, she did agree with Darkseid, until back on Earth she realized that even if she agreed to go back and be a Fury again, he would still kill her. That's why she opted to stay on Earth. Next to being a conqueror for Darkseid, there's nowhere in the universe she could get better training and respect than on a world filled with Super-heroes
    • Also, Clark's constant "She's coming with me" attitude throughout the entire film got to be vaguely disturbing for some viewers.
    • This Troper figured that the reason the brainwashing was never shown played into the whole "Batman suspects she's evil". She DID mention that she had no memory of anything from her kidnapping to her return to earth.
      • She looked pretty darn terrified when Darksied made the offer, and Barda (who has first hand experience) seems to think he did.
  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: As a sequel to Public Enemies and given the reaction to them coming back there occurred when many of the DCAU voice cast reprised their roles. Though not a returning actor, the news that Supergirl's voice actor is Summer Glau was heralded by a single word: Squee!
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: During the final battle with Darkseid, Kara (Supergirl) causes Darkseid to accidentally shoot himself with his Omega Beams, after tracking her with them; she uses him as a shield after getting him in a bearhug-like hold.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Kara meeting the Kents for the first time.
  • Designated Hero: Batman and Wonder Woman. Thinking that Kara needs Training From Hell to control her powers, the Amazons outright ambush and abduct her.
  • Evil Is Sexy: The female Furies, but Kara especially during her brief stint as their leader. I mean DAMN.
  • Idiot Plot: So, so much of the plot could have been avoided if Batman and Wonder Woman didn't have a death grip on the Conflict Ball and treated Kara like a person in the movie's first act.
  • Informed Wrongness:
    • When Kara lands on Earth, Superman's first thought is to... give her as normal a life as she can have. After all, that's how he turned out to be so moral. And for this, he gets treated as enabling a dangerous threat.
    • The collateral damage that Kara causes to the park when Wonder Woman abducts her. Of course she caused collateral damage. Some lunatic jumped her in the park and she tried to defend herself.
  • Narm: Darkseid waiting for Clark and Kara inside the Kents' house. As many fans have asked, what could he have been doing to pass the time?
  • Tear Jerker: The last thing Kara remembers about Krypton is seeing her parents die.
  • Testosterone Brigade: Nothing explicit is ever shown, but yes, Kara is buck-ass naked when she shows up on Earth.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: There was a large uproar when Michael Ironside was replaced by Andre Braugher as Darkseid, a role Michael had played in both in the DCAU. Likewise, though Summer Glau was almost universally well received when she was announced as Supergirl, there were still requests from fans for Nicholle Tom to return to the role that she had also played during the DCAU.
  • The Woobie: Kara. First she watches her parents die, then she's trapped in an unfamiliar environment, forcibly got kidnaped, is treated like a child, kidnapped AGAIN, brainwashed into being an evil assassin and leader of an army of super hot warrior assassins, is forced to attack her cousin while being brainwashed....seriously the girl goes through so much.
