Tropes expressed through the TV-Tropes Forum
Tropes A-C[]
- Acceptable Targets: In places outside Tv Tropes, such as reddit board of Tv Tropes, Fighteer is often regarded as one of the many reasons why the moderation in forums is considered toxic.
- Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick
- Broken Base: Obviously, the Trope Repair Shop.
- Can't Take Criticism: Fast Eddie, Fighteer and many of mods are known within and without, notorious for this.
- Captain Obvious
- Comically Missing the Point: There is a substantial fraction of TV Tropes' users who participate only in the forums and judge presence on the site as a whole solely by presence there. Prolific wiki contributors who never bother with the forums can be written off as having "left the site" by these users.
- Continuity Nod
- Conversational Troping: Pretty much the original intention of the forums. It quickly outgrew that.
- Crowning Moment of Funny: The Made Of Forum Win topic.
Tropes D-F[]
Tropes G-I[]
- GIRL: There is an overwhelming amount of male members with female avatars, as well as pedophiles falsely claiming to be women. This is inverted frequently as well, with plenty of females sporting male avatars.
- Hurricane of Puns
- Hot-Blooded: While this applies many tropers, the poster boy for this behavior is Fighteer.
Tropes K-M[]
- Left Fielder
- Loads and Loads of Characters
- Memetic Mutation: By the bucketload. Fast Eddie wasn't a fan.
- The Moral Substitute: For any tropes wiki which does not censor its content.
- Multinational Team: The mods, somehow
Tropes M-O[]
- Never My Fault: A common excuse from Mods and certain tropers.
- Nightmare Fetishist
- Nightmare Fuel
- Ninja Editors: The forum tends to move fast. It is not uncommon for threads to gain two or three posts in less than a minute.
- Online Personas: Most of 'em.
Tropes P-S[]
- Persona Non Grata: This the fate of many banned tropers. Especially, the annoying persistent tropers.
- Running Gag
- Serious Business: The site was formerly more casual and even friendly years but over the years the toned has changed to more serious tone about tropes and purging questionable content.
- Shipping
- Sitcom Arch Nemesis: The site has many but the most well known ones are [[Kiwi Farms], Encyclopedia Dramatica, Something Awful, All The Tropes, and this site was well.
- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Pretty idealistic, as far as places on the Internet go. In recent years, it's taken a more cynical turn
- Small Name, Big Ego: The mods and many users.
- Sock Puppets:
- A common way for banned tropers get around bans, rightly or wrongly.
- Still, the most notable one is Fast Eddie himself. He has two known ones, Gus, which is Fast Eddie's real first name and founder of Tv Tropes and Janitor, Gus' supposed Korean girlfriend. Fast Eddie may have another alt account since he sold Tv Tropes [1][2]
- Sugar Bowl: Enforced selectively on the forums, where thread participants who agree with moderators on the topic at hand are more likely to get away with rudeness toward those who disagree with the moderators than vice versa, at least for hot-button topics.
Tropes T-V[]
- Talkative Loons
- They Copied It, So It Sucks: This the general consensus about various TV Tropes forks.
- Thread Necromancer
- Tropes Will Ruin Your Life: No, we weren't kidding. Some forum posters often experience this as well, sometimes taken to the extreme.
- Universal Adaptor Cast: There sure are a lot of troper AUs.
- Viewer-Friendly Interface: Averted. The wiki engine that used in Tv Tropes, Pmwiki, rather clunky to use and using it to quote somebody in the forums is such a hassle.
- Viewer Gender Confusion: Not helped by the GIRL (and reverse-GIRL) avatars, and the fact that gender doesn't come up much.
Tropes W-Z[]
- Yaoi Fans
- With Us or Against Us: This the mentality of the mods and several tropers. Merely being critical or question how the site is run often gets rebukes from the mods and several tropers.
- Yuri Fans
- Back to TV Tropes
