Main character page | Taimanins (Asagi Igawa | Sakura Igawa | Shiranui Mizuki) | Villains (Oboro | Edwin Black | Ingrid) | Others
Shiranui Mizuki

The mother of Yukikaze. Stated to be a powerful and well-respected Taimanin who is feared by many as the Phantom Tamanin. Although she claims to be "out of shape" compare to her younger years, her abilities are stated to be on par with Asagi. She disappeared 5 years prior to the advents of Taimanin Yukikaze during a mission investigating the brothel, Under Eden, located in the lawless town of Yomihara.

Shiranui's weapon of choice is a Naginata pole-arm and possesses ninja ability known as the Water Arts. Her ninja art allows her mold water into illusion and create water duplicates of herself. These abilities are very useful for causing distractions, as well as provide strong offensive and defensive capabilities.

Action Taimanin chucks all the above bad stuff out the window and assumes she's just fine, still on the good guy team, and even playable. This means she gets to work alongside her daughter and Rinko on heroic terms as well.

Tropes applying to her in general[]

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: This is somewhat justified since Yukikaze was born as a result of a Teen Pregnancy.
  • Abusive Parents: She was a loving mother to Yukikaze and honorary aunt to the Akiyama siblings, however thanks to Under Eden's conditioning, Shiranui becomes this in TY1. In that state, she would only love Yukikaze and Rinko if they become mind broken slaves like her. In the non-canon route, she is willing to let her's and Yazaki's infant daughter be sold into slavery to be a future Sex Slave when she get older... Yikes!
  • The Ace: She is stated to be one of the strongest and that her skills rival Asagi.
  • Action Mom: Stated to be almost as strong as Asagi.
    • Clarified in some more detail in Action Taimanin. She trumps Igawa Asagi in overall reach and is superior at hit multiple foes almost as hard as Asagi if not better in terms of raw power. Her only flaw is lack of agility. This also makes her a Foil to her daughter, who uses much weaker but faster guns and is much more agile.
  • Adaptational Badass: Action Taimanin, by virtue of taking place in a way less messed up alternate universe version of the franchise (where most of the darker events did not end half as bad as they otherwise did), allows Shiranai to completely sidestep all the bad things that happened to her in canon and lets her be playable on the good guy team alongside her daughter.
  • Babies Ever After: A dark example in the non-canon bad ending when she gives birth to Yazaki's daughter, Hotaru.
  • Blade on a Stick: Her weapon of choice.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In both Taimanin Yukikaze 1 and 2, as a result of Real's "training".
  • Boobs of Steel: She is one of the strongest Taimanin and currently has the largest breasts among all the Taimanin with a measurement of 112 cm. For reference, Asagi's largest known measurement is 90 cm in TA3, and Rinko who is known for her Gag Boobs has a measurement of 87 cm.
    • Has a direct gameplay role in Action Taimanin. Her knockback animation is one of the least pronounced of all the female characters, likely due to her "chest padding" absorbing any impacts.
  • Buxom Is Better: Many of the villains certainly think so.
    • Played for laughs in Action Taimanin. When she and her daughter have to enter Tokyo Kingdom to investigate a lead in the main story, the guards at the gates give all the ladies a pat-down for weapons (which were smuggled in via other means). Her daughter is rather peeved the guards seemed to agree with this trope, rather than be grateful to be spared what was essentially a quasi-legal groping.
  • The Brute: To the Under Eden Gang in TY1 seeing as she is the only antagonist in that game with fighting abilities.
  • Climax Boss: Of TY1. After everything the heroes went through to find her, their reunion is short-lived when it's revealed that Yazaki was the one who set up Yukikaze and Rinko to take on the mission that was doomed to fail as part of his Revenge. To top it all off, Yazaki also reveals that Shiranui has been Reforged Into a Minion.
  • Crusading Widower: In Action Taimanin. In the visual novel's timeline, Shiranui's husband died during her 5-year disappearance. However, in Action's timeline where Shiranui was not kidnapped by Ryuji and his minions, she got to stay with her family and briefly retired from her duties. But this time when her husband was killed, Shiranui decided to return to her career as a Taimanin to protect her daughter and the Akiyama siblings.
    • She also serves as Igawa Asagi's adjutant whenever Asagi is not around in AT, in a heroic inversion of her original VN role.
  • Dark Mistress: To Yazaki in TY1 and Ryuji in TY2.
  • Dark Is Evil: As the Rubber Woman.
  • Darth Vader Clone: A female example as the Rubber Woman. She was a heroic warrior who was seduced into the dark side and was groomed into an one of the main antagonist's enforcers.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: One of the very few Taimanin who can, in-story and in gameplay, go toe to toe with Astaroth and have a distinct advantage, canonically turning what had been a lopsided fight against the latter into a perfectly beatable one.
  • A Day in the Limelight: In the 5-minute "bonus episode" of the Taimanin Yukikaze OVA.
  • Elemental Shapeshifter: One of her ninja arts is to turn her body into water to avoid standard physical attacks.
  • Evil Costume Switch: In Taimanin Yukikaze 2. It's a rubber gimp suit with Wolverine Claws. There is a practical reason why the brainwashed Shiranui is wearing a rudder bodysuit, as it does protect her from Yukikaze's lightning attacks.
  • Face Monster Turn: After being brainwashed and sexually tortured for 5 years by Under Eden and Ryuji, Shiranui becomes an antagonist in TY1 and TY2.
  • Fallen Hero: Due to her Brainwashed and Crazy state as a result of Under Eden's conditioning, she is perfectly willing to attack her loved ones. Its worth mentioning that Shiranui's fallen status is one of the longest-running story arcs in the franchise that has been spanning over a decade in real life (TY1 was first released on 09-16-2011). Averted in Action Taimanin where her kidnapping and brainwashing did not occur in that timeline.
  • The Ghost: For most of the OVA series. She has yet to make a physical appearance outside the opening credits. It wouldn't be until the "bonus" episode would she make an actual appearance.
  • Hair Decorations: Has a large ribbon in her hair that almost makes it look like that she has bunny ears at first glance.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: In TY1. No matter what the main characters do, they are unable to defeat the Brainwashed and Crazy Shiranui. Yukikaze can't bring herself to fight her own mother and falls in despair after seeing her in this state, while the Akiyama siblings are hopelessly outmatched. The fight becomes even more hopeless in the Fallen Rinko route when Tatsurou is forced to fight her and a brainwashed Rinko. The only way the heroes can get a "good ending" is to abort their mission early and avoiding fighting her altogether.
  • Hot Mom: Just look at her.
  • Leotard of Power: Part of her Taimanin outfit. Like daughter, like a mother.
  • Like a Son to Me: Treats the Akiyama siblings like they are her own children. Take a dark turn in the Fallen Rinko route where the Brainwashed and Crazy Shiranui see the Rinko more as a daughter than a Yukikaze after Rinko undergoes a Face Heel Turn.
  • Made a Slave: While Shiranui was on a mission at Yomihara, she was capture by Real and the demon, Ryuji Kuroi. For years, Real was tasked with "training" Shiranui, until she became Yazaki and Ryuji's personal slave, for both combat and other...uses. Ryuji occasionally "lends" Shiranui to Under Eden, but most of the time she is usually stationed at Hijirisamu academy.
  • Making a Splash: Her unique ninja ability is to manipulate water. She can even turn her body into water.
  • Meaningful Name: Her surname contains the kanji for "water". See Making a Splash above.
  • Mighty Glacier: In Action Taimanin, she's powerful and has great range, but has low agility. Her attacks are intended to basically allow her to trap her opponents by charges her moves, hits the enemy with it, gets some space to charge another attack, and wash, rinse, repeat. Although for Competitive Balance, her attacks are given slower moments compare to the other playable Taimanin.
  • Missing Mom: Has been missing for 5 years while on a mission at the fictional town of Yomihara.
  • Red Baron: Made a name for herself as the Phantom Taimanin, or just the "Phantom" for short.
  • Reforged Into a Minion: Become Under Eden's top enforcer and Yazaki's mistress after being sexually tortured and brainwashed for 5 years.
  • Sex Slave: What became of her during her 5 years disappearance. However, considering she disappeared while investigating a corrupt brothel, who honestly did not see this coming.
  • Shadow Archetype: She's basically Asagi without her willpower to overcome any lustful tendencies and becoming a servile Sex Slave.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: In Taimanin Yukikaze. She only appears for a few scenes in the game, however, she is the reason why Yukikaze and Rinko are investigating the brothel in the first place.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Oboro. Hell, they even have Wolverine Claws to boot.
  • Teen Pregnancy: She was apparently 18 years old when she gave birth to Yukikaze.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Her capture/disappearance was the catalyst that caused the advent of Taimanin Yukikaze 1 and 2. This sort of makes her indirectly responsible for all the suffering that Yukikaze, Rinko, Tatsurou, and Shizuru had to endure during the advents of those games.
  • Victim Falls For Rapist: Falls in love with Yazaki in TY1 and Ryuji in TY2.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Unlike in the visual novel, the detail of her disappearance and her fate is not revealed in the OVA series. This is partly subverted in the bonus episode, however, her overall fate remains unknown.
  • Wolverine Claws: As the "Rubber Woman" in TY2.
