- "The Pilot's Creed" strip in October 17, 1943, in which Terry, newly commissioned as a fighter pilot, is given one last lesson from his instructor, Colonel "Flip" Corkin. In that strip, the Colonel tells Terry that he must remember the people before him who helped make it possible to become a combat pilot, respect both his support crew and the military bureaucracy and remember the fellow soldiers of the air who have been lost and are now looking to him to carry on the fight. This speech was so moving that it was read in the US Congress and recorded into the Congressional Record.
