A Thematic Series of movies with the same premise: take a kid-friendly work and/or character, and make an R-rated horror movie about it.
So far, the Saga consists of:
- The Banana Splits Movie (The Banana Splits)
- Arthur: Maleficent (Arthur and the Invisibles)
- Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (Winnie the Pooh)
- Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2
- The Mean One (How the Grinch Stole Christmas)
- The Mouse Trap (Mickey Mouse)
- Screamboat (Mickey Mouse again)
- Popeye The Slayer Man (Popeye)
- Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare (Peter Pan)
Examples of The Blood and Honey Saga include:
- Continuity Creep/God Does Not Own This World: Supposed to just be a Thematic Series, but the director of Blood and Honey announced similar movies and that they would all take place in the same universe. All of this without involving the people that worked on Banana Splits, Arthur: Maleficent, The Mean One, The Mouse Trap, Screamboat and/or Popeye the Slayer Man.
- Reboot Discontinuity: Screamboat and Popeye the Slayer Man are unconnected to the "Twisted Childhood Universe" that Matt Leslie is building, meaning they are standalone entries in the Thematic Series, just like Banana Splits, Maleficent, The Mean One and The Mouse Trap.
- Deliberately Monochrome: Mickey Mouse, in order to Write Around Trademarks
- Double Meaning Title: Blood and Honey is both the title of the Winnie the Pooh entries, and a title symbolic of what the Saga does (turn family-friendly characters/works into R-rated horror movies)
- Grimmification: The entire point of the Saga.
- Horror Doesn't Settle for Simple Tuesday/An Asskicking Christmas: Unsurprisingly, The Mean One takes place in Christmas.
- Lighter and Softer: Banana Splits is by far the lightest entry in the Saga, leaning heavier into comedy than other installments.
- Villain Episode: The Mean One is notable in that the Grinch was already a villain, just a more kid-friendly one.
- Whole-Plot Reference: Banana Splits is this to Five Nights at Freddy's
