Fridge Brilliance[]

  • It makes perfect for Hercules to be a member of the Avengers (apart from Rule of Cool). The Wikipedia entry says that he was given the name Alcides, and acquired Hercules through his habit of tearing holes in things that ate folk. And what does Hecules mean? Why, it comes from the Greek "Hera-Kleos", with "hera" meaning protector (like Hera, Greek goddess who offers protection during childbirth) and "kleos" meaning renown, esteem, stuff like that. Hercules deserves a spot on the tem because his 'codename' literally mean's World's Greatest Hero.
    • This is untrue and at best seriously stretching things. Hercules was given his Greek Name "Heracles" as an attempt to appease Hera's wrath and not due to his ability to kill things. The name literally means "Glory to Hera." Hera itself means "queen or mistress." So Hercules's name DOES NOT mean world's greatest hero.
