The Mr. Men Show/Characters

Some or all of these characters need descriptions. A list of tropes is not a description.

Mr. Men

Mr. Tickle

• Catch Phrase: "I think somebody needs a TIIICKLE..."
• Friendly Tickle Torture: It's in his name. He often tries to tickle people to make them happy (whether they want him to or not).
• Innocently Insensitive: He tends to tickle people (i.e. Mr. Grumpy) even if they tell him not to, but he only tickles them because he thinks he'll make them happy that way.
• Keet: He's a cheerful, energetic guy.
• Nice Guy: Mr. Tickle is a jolly guy who wants to tickle people to cheer them up.
• Nice Hat: A blue one.
• Rubber Man: He can stretch his arms very far so that he can tickle other people.
• Your Answer to Everything: Tickles!

Mr. Happy

• Big Fun: He's a round circle who's very cheery.
• Broken Smile: Has sported one of these a few times.
• Catch Phrase: "WONDERFUUUUL!"
• Large Ham
• Nice Guy: He'll try to make others happy no matter how unhappy he gets in the process.
• The Pollyanna: He lives up to his name by enjoying the good things in life. Although he can be a Stepford Smiler.
• Smiley Face
• Stepford Smiler: Even when he's frustrated, he still tries to stay happy.

Mr. Nosy & Mr. Small

• Affectionate Nickname: Mr. Small likes to call Mr. Nosy "Nose".
• Ambiguously Gay:
• Big Fun: Mr. Nosy is portly and mostly friendly, though he often irritates others with his nosiness.
• Drop-In Character
• Fat and Skinny: Mr. Nosy's the fat one and Mr. Small's the skinny one.
• Heterosexual Life Partners: They're very close friends who tend to be close to each other most of the time. Although the heterosexual part is a bit...ambiguous.
• Nice Hat: Mr. Small.
• Nosy Neighbor: Mr. Nosy. It's in his name, after all.
• Those Two Guys: They're by each other's side most of the time.
• Vocal Dissonance:
  • In both dubs, Mr. Small has a deep voice despite his size.
  • On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mr. Nosy has a rather squeaky voice in the French dub for someone as chubby as him.

Mr. Bump

• Butt Monkey: His defining trait is that he goes through a ton of slapstick every time he appears.
• Catch Phrase: "Poopity-poop."
• The Chew Toy: Not only is he clumsy, but he's often injured indirectly by other characters (like through Miss Whoops's obliviousness).
• Keet
• Large Ham
• Nervous Wreck: Not as much as Mr. Nervous, but he's prone to anxiety. Not that anyone can blame him, since life has it out for him.
• Oh Crap: Essentially what his Catch Phrase is.

Mr. Messy

• Big Ol' Unibrow: He has one, complementing his sloppiness.
• Non-Standard Character Design: Instead of having a solid shape, he's a bunch of pink squiggles.
• Odd Couple: With Mr. Persnickety/Fussy.
• The Pig Pen:
• Squick: He has some rather revolting habits, especially to a Neat Freak like Mr. Persnickety/Fussy.

Mr. Nervous

• Adaptation Name Change: UK dub only. In the US, his book self was always called Mr. Nervous, but in the original UK version, he was called Mr. Jelly. In this show, however, he keeps his American name.
• Blind Without'Em: Though not as much as Miss Whoops.
• Gasshole: He mentions in "Food" that radishes make him gassy. This was changed to them giving him bellyaches in the UK dub.
• Lovable Coward: He's afraid of everything, especially Mr. Tickle.
• Mr. Imagination: He often has imagination sequences about terrible things happening to him.
• Nervous Wreck: True to his name, he usually expects the worst to happen. He often runs around shrieking and panicking.

Mr. Noisy

• Large Ham: Given his lack of an indoor voice, he's prone to chewing scenery.
• No Indoor Voice: And it doesn't help that he often yells into a megaphone.

Mr. Lazy

• Adaptation Dye Job: He was white with a blue hat in the original books, but in The Mr. Men Show he is green with a red hat.
• Blinding Hat
• Brilliant but Lazy: He'd rather build machines to do the work for him.
• Lazy Bum: He often considers things to be "too much work".
• Nice Hat: He wears magenta hat that covers his eyes.
• The Stoic: He speaks in a deadpan tone and he can't emote well thanks to his hat that covers his eyes.

Mr. Funny

• Bow Ties Are Cool: One with red spots.
• He Who Must Not Be Heard
• Nice Hat
• The Unintelligible: He doesn't speak, he only honks.

Mr. Persnickety/Fussy

• Bow Ties Are Cool: A black one.
• British Stuffiness: In the US dub, he speaks with what sounds like a British accent, and as his name states, he's picky.
• Butt Monkey: Often because of Mr. Messy's messiness. He also tends to be kicked out of places for things that aren't his fault.
• Dub Name Change: In the first season, he was called "Mr. Pernickety" in the UK dub.
• Large Ham: Especially in the US dub with his pompous British-sounding accent.
• Neat Freak: As opposed to Mr. Messy, he'd rather have everything nice and neat.
• "No Respect" Guy
• Odd Couple: With Mr. Messy.
• Only Sane Man
• Sudden Name Change: He was called Mr. Persnickety (Mr. Pernickety in the UK dub) in the first season before he went back to his original name, Mr. Fussy, in the second season.
• Super OCD: Comes as a package with his Neat Freak tendencies.

Mr. Bounce

• Nice Hat

Mr. Strong

• Catch Phrase: "Aw, pickles! I hardly touched it!"
• Does Not Know His Own Strength
• Top-Heavy Guy
• World's Strongest Man

Mr. Grumpy

• Big Ol' Unibrow: Type I.
• Butt Monkey
• Catch Phrase: "Crooked cucumbers!"
• Deadpan Snarker: He makes snarky remarks towards the goofier characters' tomfoolery.
• Grumpy Bear: As his name would clue you in, he's not a very happy person.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's cranky, but he's helpful to his friends.
• Nice Hat
• Only Sane Man
• Surrounded by Idiots

Mr. Quiet

• Adaptation Dye Job: He used to be brown in the original books, but is light blue in The Mr. Men Show.
• Big Ol' Unibrow: Type II.
• Butt Monkey: Of course, since he's quiet, he often gets dragged into loud and often dangerous situations.
• Only Sane Man
• The Quiet One
• The Unintelligible: He often speaks so quietly that it's hard to understand him, moreso in the UK dub. Though in the second season of the US dub, he starts to speak more clearly.
• Vocal Evolution: In the US dub, his voice becomes clearer in the second season. This doesn't stop other characters from being unable to hear him, though.

Mr. Tall

• Gentle Giant: Though he's really only a giant in the sense that he has long legs.

Mr. Rude

• Deadpan Snarker
• French Jerk: In both dubs, he has the same French accent, and as his name states, he's rude.
• Gasshole: A Running Gag is someone saying something, followed by him saying, "I'll give you (adjective)" and farting loudly. Everyone else then shouts, "Mr. Rude!!"
• Jerkass: Unsurprisingly for someone with the name Mr. Rude, he's prone to insulting others and/or farting just to annoy them.
• Running Gag: Whenever he passes gas, a bunch of Mr. Men and Little Miss angrily shout "Mr. Rude!"
• Surrounded by Idiots

Mr. Scatterbrain

• Big Ol' Unibrow: He has a unibrow that makes him look even goofier.
• Catch Phrase: "Where is my head?"
• Cloudcuckoolander
• The Ditz
• Friend to All Living Things: He has many pets.
• Nice Hat
• Speech Impediment: Mr. Scatterbrain has a lateral lisp.

Mr. Stubborn

• Big Ol' Unibrow: Type I.
• Catch Phrase: "This (x) is CHEAP!"
• The Determinator: Sometimes to the point of being Too Dumb to Live.
• Jerkass: He's an overconfident scumbag with a Never My Fault complex.
• Large Ham: Moreso in the US dub, but in both dubs, his lines are often delivered with great force.
• Never My Fault: He's practically incapable of admitting he's wrong. In his eyes, "cheap" objects are to blame.
• Selective Obliviousness: His shtick is that he always ignores what's right in front of him, claiming to be right.
• The Unfettered
• Violent Glaswegian: In the UK dub, he speaks with a Scottish accent and he's still a crabby Large Ham.

Little Misses

Little Miss Bossy

• Bratty Half-Pint: Though her age is a mystery, she sounds rather childish in the US dub and she's very demanding.
• Control Freak: It's in her name. She insists that she's "the boss around here".
• Genki Girl
• Nice Hat: A red one with a white flower.

Little Miss Naughty

• Catch Phrase: "I just can't help myself!"
• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Wears a green bow in her hair.
• Evil Foreigner: A mild case.
• Evil Laugh
• Girlish Pigtails: Pink, poofy ones.
• Jerkass: She's very mean-spirited and she likes to play cruel pranks on others for a cheap laugh.
• The Prankster
• Rose-Haired Girl

Little Miss Sunshine

• Distaff Counterpart: To Mr. Happy.
• The Ditz
• Dumb Blonde: Not as dumb as Mr. Scatterbrain, but she's blonde and somewhat airheaded.
• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Red ribbons at the end of her pigtails.
• Girlish Pigtails
• Hair of Gold
• Kindhearted Simpleton: She may be a bit of an airhead, but she's very cheerful and sweet.
• Name's the Same: Not to be confused with that movie with the dysfunctional family and the beauty pageant.
• Nice Girl: She's as kind as Mr. Happy.
• Youthful Freckles: They make her look more innocent.

Little Miss Helpful

• Catch Phrase: "Just trying to be helpful."
• The Ditz
• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Green bows in her pigtails.
• Girlish Pigtails
• Southern Belle: She has a southern accent in the US dub.
• Stop Helping Me!: Doesn't always help, especially to Butt Monkey characters.

Little Miss Magic

• Great Gazoo

Little Miss Giggles

• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Yellow bows in her pigtails.
• Girlish Pigtails
• The Hyena: She laughs at everything and tends to laugh too hard to finish a sentence, something that tends to annoy Mr. Grumpy and Mr. Fussy.
• Youthful Freckles

Little Miss Chatterbox

• The Ditz: As a result of her constant talking, she's often oblivious to the world around her.
• Dumb Blonde: She's often too busy talking to pay attention to much around her, and she's blonde.
• Drop-In Character
• Hair of Gold
• Innocently Insensitive: She doesn't mean to annoy people with her constant chattering.
• Motor Mouth: Especially in the US dub, but in both dubs, nonstop talking is her shtick. She often irritates others with her incessant talking.
• Odango
• Trademark Favorite Food: She sometimes mentions that she likes chocolate cake.
• Valley Girl: She talks like this in the US dub.

Little Miss Curious

• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: A blue bow on her ponytail.
• Idiot Ponytail: Shaped like a question mark.

Little Miss Scary

• Fiery Redhead: Her whole body is red and she's very passionate about scaring people.
• Nightmare Fetishist: She loves scary things.
• Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant
• No Indoor Voice: In the US dub, she yells most of her lines in a scratchy voice. Lessened in the UK dub.
• Viewer Gender Confusion

Little Miss Whoops

• Annoying Younger Sibling: To Mr. Bump.
• Catch Phrase: "Whoops~" and "Don't worry, I'm a trained professional."
• The Ditz
• Blind Without'Em: As shown in "Eyeglasses".
• Every Girl Is Cuter With Hair Decs: Wears a pink bow on her head.
• Eyes Always Shut

Little Miss Calamity

• Born Unlucky: Was said to be "nothing but bad luck" in one episode.
• Butt Monkey: She's as clumsy as Mr. Bump.

• The Chew Toy: She gets hurt all the time, something that's never played for drama.
• Joisey: She speaks with this kind of accent in the US dub.
• Nervous Wreck: She's not very brave, to say the least. Since everything's out to get her, it's understandable that she lives in fear.
• Put on a Bus: In Season 2.
• Slapstick Knows No Gender

Little Miss Daredevil

• Canon Foreigner: She never appeared in the books.
• Fiery Redhead: She's a redhead who loves adventure and stunts.
• Genki Girl: She's active and adventurous.
• Little Miss Badass: Rarely do we see her not gearing up to do some sort of wild stunt.
• Nice Helmet
• Plucky Girl
• Vocal Dissonance: She's a tomboy who speaks like a Proper Lady in the UK dub.
