The Grand Finale to end all finales. How will anybody stop the invasion before chaos spells disaster?
The Invasion! is the 100th episode of The Reapers Series and serves as the series finale before the start of the Carnivorous Shadows series.
Summary[]
Looks like Reaper has finally had enough and has decided to take revenge on Vyond City by using the accursed Crimson Necronomicon to turn the place into a demonic realm. As Crimson Peak anomalies invade Vyond City, the Reapers gang wreaking havoc, and with Luna and her friends currently AWOL, people are in a state of panic. But with the Crimson Necronomicon's forbidden spell's consequences, is it all worth the risk?
- All for Nothing: Ultimately, in the end, the Crimson Necronomicon book is destroyed, making Reaper's efforts to take revenge against Vyond City be for naught, with Inferno and Amiira lampshading it in the end:
Inferno: Ugh, this cannot be happening right now! It just can't! |
- Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Lana Darkhand's flashback reveals how she has been taking revenge against humanity: Starting arson attacks, stealing food from supermarkets and blaming humanity, simply for receiving protection by the ArchAngels in the first place.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: When Reaper unleashes the Forbidden Spell in the climax of the final episode, he doesn't count on Crimson Peak being on the verge of being destroyed, nor does he consider the serious consequences of using the said spell until the very end, and is even said almost exactly word-for-word by Reagan Moretti at the end of the episode when she mentions how Reaper got more than what he bargained when using the said book.
- Boomerang Bigot: Sinclair Blakely, while on her jet indiscriminately announces a new rule that anyone who isn't a Demonoid or a Crimson Peak anomaly will be hunted down and killed on the spot, despite her and her gangmates literally being none of the 2 things she mentions, making her announcement come off as hypocritical and contradictory.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: Reagan Moretti makes a surprise appearance at the end of the episode to tell the viewers how arrogant and over-confident Reaper and his gang were, and how they have achieved absolutely nothing in the end, and even ends it off with her Evil Laugh to indicate that we haven't seen the last of her. She makes good on her promise in the next series after the final episode ends.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Crimson Necronomicon in earlier episodes is introduced as another dark magical object, but in the final 4 episodes, it is revealed that the Crimson Necronomicon is the key reason behind Reaper's goal of getting revenge on the people who has exiled him. It is also revealed that the Crimson Necronomicon is the one pulling the strings all along and not Reaper, as the latter slowly loses his mind to the book as his eyes turn black after a while.
- One of the Strikers' jets is used in this episode to get Luna and Lana Darkhand closer to the Crimson Necronomicon as the former finally puts an end to the book, and destroys it, thus ending the invasion altogether.
- The Dark Side Will Make You Forget: Discussed in the trial against Reaper and his gang and allies: Luna Darkhand points out how the Crimson Necronomicon book has ruined his life, and how the humans have exiled him because of his monstrous appearance in public, ultimately making Reaper realize he was forgetting that he had allies with him who were humans the whole time. This is ultimately lampshaded by Reaper himself at the end when he finally acknowledges what the book has done to him and spends the final scene of the episode bemoaning what a fool he was for starting beef against humans, stating how ridiculous his hatred for them really was:
- Deer in the Headlights: Corbin immediately stops attacking and notices a bus being driven by Valentina Moore heading straight for him. Instead of attacking the bus, Corbin just stands there and doesn't move at all, before realizing too late that he is about to be defeated. His Oh, Crap! look he shows before being vanquished is priceless.
- Didn't Think This Through: The Strikers, while following Reaper's orders to a T, doesn't take into account how unstable and dangerous the Forbidden Spell is until Luna Darkhand directly tells them after Toni Grayson orders an emergency landing at the Strikers' HQ after their jets overheat from the effects of the Forbidden Spell, and how the forbidden spell is only destroying both Crimson Peak and the whole world. After realizing their mistake, Toni Grayson, along with a few members of the Strikers abandon their original plan and team up with both Luna and Lana Darkhand to put an end to the invasion once and for all.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Lana Darkhand reveals in a flashback the reason behind her hatred for humanity is because the ArchAngels (or Angeloids) started a war against the Demonoids and also stole a lot of stuff from them, and because the humans were receiving the most protection by them. She also reveals that while she was unleashing her full wrath on the humans, she started arson attacks, stole food from supermarkets with her demonic appearance, and attacking them at night while also blaming humanity for their suffering.
- Tiffani Storm's flashback is quite similar, but is more down-to-Earth when she reveals to NOVADROME that she and her brother Reaper (real name is Caylan Theo Storm) weren't always how they are viewed in the present, have been suffering from abuse by their Abusive Parents who would violently attack them over them either making a simple mistake or not getting any perfect grades. Their parents would eventually go overboard by kicking Reaper out of the house and disowning him over his monstrous appearance after being accidentally cursed by the Crimson Necronomicon book that the latter has found while he was taking a walk (thus accidentally tripping over it) at a desolate playground. As a result of people freaking out over his monstrous appearance and being treated like a pariah, he exiled himself from society and took refuge in Crimson Peak.
- Drunk with Power: After a while, Reaper almost loses his mind to the Crimson Necronomicon book before Luna Darkhand blasts it with a demonic blast, causing Reaper to revert to how he was before activating the Forbidden Spell. This infuriates the book even further and prompts it to try to take down Luna Darkhand before facing its ultimate fate.
- Enemy Mine: Ultimately subverted when some members of the Strikers (Toni Grayson, Tracey, Stone, Jennifer Smith and Valentina Moore) make a genuine Heel Face Turn after realizing how foolish they were for relying on the Crimson Necronomicon book in the first place and then team up with both Luna and Lana Darkhand to stop the invasion and return Reaper to his senses. Their teamwork pays off when the book is destroyed by Luna and the crisis averted.
- Even Evil Has Standards: As much as the Strikers are willing to help Reaper in the invasion, they are horrified to learn about the Crimson Necronomicon book's true nature and the Forbidden Spell when Luna Darkhand tells them how unstable and dangerous the spell really is, prompting them to team up with her, Lana Darkhand, and her friends to help put an end to the invasion for good. It's even lampshaded by Toni Grayson at the end when the invasion is averted and celebrating it with some of the members of the Strikers:
- Flashback: Quite a few examples of this, actually.
- In Amiira Storm's flashback, it is revealed that she became the way she is because a former friend, Hudson Callaway was relentlessly bullying her over having demonic powers after revealing to him that she has them, causing him to betray both her and Bianca Starr and ending his friendship with them over it, labeling them as demonic freaks. It even got to the point where Hudson Callaway went too far with his bullying, that Amiira Storm and Bianca Starr planned their revenge against him by having Amiira Storm sneak into the party to wait for Hudson, cornering him in a room, and delivers a terrifying speech to him without even raising her voice at all during the confrontation. She murders Hudson in cold blood and then dumping his lifeless body into the woods to be fed to the wolves. Upon being caught and arrested by the police, instead of being sent to prison, she is sent to the Macewell County Mental Institution by Officer Hilda Parker with good intentions behind them. However, her attempt backfires as Amiira reveals that instead of her getting better, she was met with severe abuse and insults at the hands of the incompetent, deceptive and abusive nurses who only made her mental health even worse, and eventually, after 2 months, Amiira Storm snaps. Cassandra Dunn makes the mistake of threatening her before being slaughtered at the hands of Amiira Storm. Nurse Cheryl McLaine and all the other nurses would eventually meet their end as Amiira Storm kills them all, and sets the entire institution on fire before escaping the area, thus making Hilda Parker indirectly responsible for accidentally creating the monstrous, psychopathic monster that Amiira has become.
- Bianca Starr's flashback is quite similar, but it also intertwines with Amiira's because it's related to how the 2 of them got arrested in the first place. She reveals that one day, she was practicing her amethyst magic for her parents until a terrible accident killed her parents, all because 3 people wanted to steal her potions to sell online to get a lot of money out of it. However, Amiira and Bianca hunts the 3 of them down, and killed them for the murder of Bianca's parents.
- Lana Darkhand's flashback can be described as tragic and traumatizing as she reveals how she was able to survive for so long when her parents went missing shortly after the war ended by living in an abandoned, runned-down but functioning apartment building: To survive, she stole food from supermarkets while also terrorizing the humans, often frightening them with her demonic appearance. She even broke off all ties with Luna Darkhand over a disagreement on their views on humans, and even blamed the humans all because they were receiving protection by the Angeloids.
- Tiffani Storm reveals to NOVADROME the reason why her brother has a disproportionate amount of hatred for humanity stems from being accidentally cursed by the Crimson Necronomicon book, being disowned by their parents, being viewed as a pariah in public and from all of the abuse that the both of them have received from their Abusive Parents.
- Speaking of their parents, Tiffani reveals that their parents (Alessia and Douglas Storm) were narcissistic perfectionists who would brutally punish the both of them over trivial things like making a small mistake or not getting perfect grades. It eventually reached the point to where Alessia and Douglas would disown Reaper over an accident with the Crimson Necronomicon (which they never knew he had at all) that turned him into the Demonoid he is today and how he adopted the name "Reaper" in place of his old name after his Face Heel Turn.
- Heel Face Turn: The Strikers, upon realizing just how truly unstable and dangerous the Forbidden Spell really is, does this at the end of the final episode, and eventually defies Reaper's orders and teams up with both Luna and Lana Darkhand to put a stop to the invasion and bring Reaper back to his senses and regain his reason. The Reapers also do this before the end of the episode after they are imprisoned with the Strikers.
- I Can't Believe I'm Saying This: Toni Grayson says this exactly word-for-word after Luna Darkhand destroys the Crimson Necronomicon, thus making the effort to stop the invasion for good.
- Immune to Bullets: Corbin brushes off the gunfire from the Vyond City Police Department like it's nothing.
- Know When to Fold'Em: Toni Grayson and a few members of the Strikers ditch their efforts in the invasion when their jets overheat from the effects of the Forbidden Spell (which proved to be too much for their jets to handle), forcing them to make an emergency landing back at the Strikers' HQ.
- Large Ham: And boy does Reaper make quite the delivery, even when addressing the citizens of Vyond City.
- Mighty Roar: Corbin, along with the Demon Acolytes and the other Crimson Peak anomolies all unleash this roar before making their way to Vyond City.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Toni Grayson and Valentina Moore, along with a few members of the Strikers all have this as a reaction, horrified of the danger they have inadvertently put themselves in, along with the Demonoids because of what the Crimson Necronomicon book has been doing. Upon hearing the Crimson Necronomicon book's true nature, they all make the effort to help put an end to the invasion once and for all.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: More like "Nice Job Breaking It, Gang", but nonetheless Reaper, and to an extent, the Strikers, inadvertently put their own lives in danger as they help Reaper with the invasion.
- In Reaper's case on one hand, not only does he activate the Forbidden Spell as commanded by the Crimson Necronomicon, but he also unknowingly causes the imminent danger to Crimson Peak and endangering the lives of not only the humans, but also the Demonoids as well, meaning that he inadvertently puts his own kind in serious danger by being overly-reliant on the book itself!
- On the other hand, in the Strikers' case, as they continue the invasion, it never occurs to them how unstable and dangerous the Crimson Necronomicon book really is until they realize that their headquarters is at serious risk. Fortunately, Toni Grayson, Tracy, Stone, Jennifer Smith, and Valentina Moore back out of this plan, deeming it too dangerous to even continue aiding Reaper in this risky plan, as they all acknowledge how far Reaper has fallen due to the book manipulating him.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Reagan Moretti makes a surprise appearance at the end just to inform the viewers of the arrogance and overconfidence of the Reapers and the Strikers and how Reaper got more than what he bargained for when he used the Crimson Necronomicon book to accomplish his goals before ending it off with this, in addition to her Evil Laugh.
- No-Sell: Corbin brushes off the gunfire like it's nothing. Semi-Justified, because of his size and strength.
- Oh, Crap!: The reactions from the citizens of Vyond City as their city is under attack really sells it.
- Corbin himself does this, as he stops attacking the city to see the Strikers' bus heading straight for him, and instead of attacking them, he just stands there until he realizes too late what's about to happen to him next, and is instantly taken out.
- One-Winged Angel: Amiira, Tiffani, Jonathan Storm and Bianca Starr, at the start of the episode, changes into their Demonoid forms, with Bianca Starr taking on the form of an amethyst Demonoid with her skin being turned purple while the former 3 having their skins turned dark red to match with the rest of the other Demonoids after putting on the Demonic corrupter earpieces. Reaper himself changes into his Nightmare form, as he performs a spell that calls the Crimson Peak anomalies over to Vyond City via his Simplified Spellcasting, thus turning the entire landscape dark red as he performs the spell.
- "Previously On...": This episode picks up right where Evidence Run! left off on, with Luna Darkhand and her friends tied up after Valentina Moore captured them in the previous episode.
- Public Execution: The judge attempts this at first upon finding the Strikers and Reapers guilty on all charges, but Luna Darkhand quickly averts this by convincing the judge to just send them to prison instead to rehabilitate them and have them redeem themselves. The judge immediately jumps on board with Luna Darkhand's proposed idea, promptly averting this attempt entirely.
- Put on a Prison Bus: After the invasion is aborted, Reaper, along with Lana Darkhand, and the rest of the Reapers, and the Strikers, are promptly arrested, and later acquitted of all charges, and eventually, sent to prison.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Violy Anderson wastes absolutely no time calling Amiira and Bianca out for the things they are doing, and gives them quite a "Not So Different" Remark in terms of comparing the 2 of them to every generic villain:
Violy: What are you talking about, you sick depraved psychopath?! You and Bianca are just like every generic villain that roams this city. Vile, sadistic, and only cares about themselves! |
- Red Sky, Take Warning: Reaper flies up into the sky with the Crimson Necronomicon book in his hand, and promptly changes the entire landscape to dark red as he calls all the anomalies of Crimson Peak in the process.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Toni Grayson, Valentina Moore (who refused at first, due to her Skewed Priorities, but reluctantly agrees after being scolded by Toni), Tracy, Jennifer Smith, and Stone eventually abandon their original plan with helping Reaper with the invasion, deeming his goal far too dangerous upon learning the truth about the Crimson Necronomicon book from Luna Darkhand, as she explains to them that the Forbidden Spell is doing the opposite of helping the Demonoids by destroying Crimson Peak (as we see the inside of Reaper's manor being severely damaged), and causing lava to rise to the surface, thus endangering the lives of literally everyone! Some members of the Strikers respond to this by teaming up with Luna and Lana Darkhand to stop Reaper, return him to his senses, and destroy the Crimson Necronomicon book for good.
- Skewed Priorities: Valentina Moore prioritizes a vacation to the Bahamas at Sinclair Blakely's beach house, and outright refuses to aid Luna Darkhand, completely unaware of the danger she and her gang are in, and blatantly calls out her gangmates for not helping Reaper with the invasion, and outright calls out Lana Darkhand for not assisting the other Demonoids! It only takes Toni Grayson laying into her does she realize how foolish her decision was for prioritizing a vacation to the Bahamas over their own safety and immediately jumps ship to help put an end to the invasion once and for all.
- The Starscream: Has an inversion on Lana Darkhand's end, as she teams up with Luna Darkhand to stop Reaper from following through with his plan to invade Vyond City.
- Played Straight in the Crimson Necronomicon book's case, as it briefly takes over Reaper's mind before being blasted by Luna Darkhand. Its true nature was discovered, even as early as episode 98 as Lana Darkhand is genuinely shocked by what was revealed by her younger sister about what its true intent truly was, and even has it relayed by Luna Darkhand in this episode. This shows that the Crimson Necronomicon has absolutely no intention of ever helping Reaper and instead put the entire world (including Crimson Peak of all places) in serious danger. Thankfully, the book is destroyed, and the crisis is averted.
