Trivia about The Return (fanfic) includes:
- All There in the Manual: The Appendices Section has the background details.
- Shout-Out: Loads of them, including (but not limited to): Stargate, Babylon 5, The Prisoner, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Star Trek, The X-Files, The Poky Little Puppy, Team Fortress 2 and many, many others. A few examples:
- The WIC machinist who manufactures many of the succubae's guns is named Gladys Coulton. The guns she makes have lines from "Still Alive" engraved on them.
- The Russian cyborgs are based on (or perhaps "inspired by" is more accurate) the Numbers from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS; their creator was a man named "Scaglietti".
- Misako recites much of the dialogue from the "Meet The Heavy" promotional trailer for Team Fortress 2, calling herself "Heavy Weapons Girl", naming her new gun "Sasha", and finishing up with "Cry some more!"
