Describe Tohru Furuya here.
All right. Around 70 years old, and still has the voice of a Bishonen. Whoa.
Anyway, Tohru Furuya is also one of the older seiyuus that, along with Akira Kamiya, triggered the second seiyuu boom in the late 70's / early 80's. He is most famous for his roles as the original Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon and as the first Gundam hero Amuro Ray, and kept playing such roles for decades, maintaining his bishie voice... which can still be heard in Ribbons "Bad Amuro" Almark of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He uses the pseudonym 'Noboru Suigetsu' when working Ribbons' voice, just so the fans can differentiate him and Amuro... but really, who would be fooled?
His first role was actually as a child actor on Ultraman! And here he is in GPS form.
He was a close friend of the late Hirotaka Suzuoki, and Amicable Exes with his first wife and fellow actress Mami Koyama. His second wife, Satomi Majima, was also a prolific voice actress in the late 1970s and early '80s, and gave up her career to marry him; they have one child together.
However, all of Furuya's legacy was called into HEAVY question in 2024: the tabloid Weekly Bunshun published an interview where Furuya admitted that he carried on a four years-long affair with a fan in her 30's, that he hit her at least once, and that he forced her to get an abortion. This placed his voice acting career in jeopardy, as most if not all of his major characters have been recast.
