• Accidental Aesop: Can be both good or bad; Gilda and Diamond Tiara were sent home because of their attitude and bullying, seemingly providing the aesop that bullying is bad. However, Sweetie Belle is sent home for making one mistake that anypony could have made and wasn't even entirely her fault, which may be telling readers that you have to do everything perfectly, or everyone will hate you.
  • The fact that the unicorns are treated as useless due to not having their magic, Pegasus wings, or earth pony power seems like saying if you lose whatever you're good at, you will become completely useless to everybody around you.
• Alternative Character Interpretation: This series builds on several amounts of it from the original show, such as Trixie being a Jerk with a Heart of Gold, or Applejack and Rainbow Dash's bickering being attributed to crushing on each other.
• Complete Monster: The only even remotely nice thing Gilda does is reluctantly congratulate Apple Bloom for pulling their team to victory in one challenge. Every other moment, she acts just as bad as in her own episode in the show, if not more so. Subverted when she returns in chapter 14, as she's become a bit nicer; more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
• Crazy Awesome: Pinkie Pie, like in the series, is insane but awesome.
• Creator's Pet: The author seems to be a Trixie fan.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Has its own page.
• Crowning Moment of Funny: Also has its own page.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: You know the drill.
• Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Seems like just about every ship out there is going to get referenced in this fic, so it's not surprising that several characters are/will become this.
• Nightmare Fuel: Gilda's rage during the dodgeball challenge.
  • Also when Trixie goes into her Then Let Me Be Evil moment.
  • Nightmare Moon's introduction can possibly catch some people off guard.
  • The sudden reappearance of Mare Do Well. Worst part is that, so far, it doesn't seem to be one of the mane six this time...
  • After Silver Spoon is eliminated, Spike gives a Badass Boast right before the end of the episode that is equal parts awesome and scary.
  • Pinkie's accidental Cupcakes reference.
• Squick: The cupcake-eating challenge. Including Trixie cupcakes, made out of Trixie's fur, hoof clippings, and saliva. Almost everypony reacts this way, and even more when Twilight eats a Trixie cupcake and likes it.
