"As a national spokesmodel for the Ethical Advancement of Melonade, I am contractually unable to drink, talk about, or bathe in any other liquid!"
—Homestar Runner, Homestar Runner, "hremail 7"
|
A character is partly defined by a Trademark Favorite Food (or drink) that they craves and eats, all the freakin' time. Usually in a way that makes you suspect that they're addicted to the substance. If they're a One-Note Cook, they'll typically be good at making it.
Sometimes justified if the item is a Power-Up Food for the character.
When a character exhibits an obsession for food that corresponds with a stereotype for his race or culture, it is usually considered a Discredited Trope unless played to lampoon the stereotype.
See Also: Stock Animal Diet, which applies this to an entire species of animal. Also Must Have Caffeine, the coffee-specific version; for Brits as often depicted, this is Spot of Tea. If the answer is "every food", you have a Big Eater. If it is "everything, no matter if food or not", you have an Extreme Omnivore. A specific, sometimes overlapping version of this trope is someone who has a Sweet Tooth. For a darker and more specific version look at I'm a Humanitarian. See also Impossibly Delicious Food. May overlap with Comfort Food in cases where the comfort food is the character's TFF.

- A recent Stella Artois commercial subverts this. The Dude and Carrie Bradshaw meet at a restaurant. The Dude orders a Stella Artois rather than a White Russian, and Carrie orders a Stella Artois rather than a Cosmopolitan. Both times, the restaurant patrons (who presumably know both Carrie and the Dude well enough to know what their respective Trademark Favorite Drinks are) are shocked by this.
- Pretty much the bread and butter (pun intended) of breakfast cereal mascots:
- Sonny, who is (say it with me now) Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs! Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo!...
- Trix are for kids, because life's just a bitch sometimes to innocent cartoon bunnies.
- The Cookie Crisp dog/wolf thing, who used to have a human robber companion.
- Lucky, the Lucky Charms leprechaun.
- Gackt and e-ma. Seriously, I don't think there has been a single commercial for it that he hasn't been in.
- The Frito Bandito robbed people of their "Frito corn cheeps" until he was deemed an offensive racial stereotype.
- See also The Power of Cheese.
- McDonald's: Several of the McDonaldland characters were associated with a particular food, most famously Grimace with milkshakes, Hamburglar with (guess what) hamburgers and the Fry Guys (and later, the Fry Girls) with (you guessed it) french fries. Birdie the Early Bird was best-known for her love of breakfast sandwiches.
- Lesser-known in McDonaldland were Captain Crook (who tried to steal Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, the chain's fish sandwich), Uncle O'Grimacey (Grimace's uncle, who also loved milkshakes, only of the mint-flavored kind that was sold on St. Patrick's Day), and the Griddler (a short-lived character who helped promote the restaurant's McGriddles line of breakfast sandwiches).
- Cheetos, the favorite food of Chester the Cheetah.
- Hostess snack foods: The characters enjoy pitching (and apparently, in a nod to cannibalism) eating the foods shaped like themselves. These include the Happy Ho Ho, Captain Cupcake, Fruit Pie the Magician and most famously, Twinkie the Kid. Twinkie the Kid was so associated with the food that when schools began anti-junk food campaigns and thereby banned the popular snack cake from the classroom, several newspapers ran cartoons of Twinkie the Kid hanging himself.
Anime and Manga[]
- In general, a lot of anime and manga series will list their characters' favorite foods/drinks in their profiles in supplementary materials and bonus chapters in manga.
- Naruto: Ramen in all of its many, varied and wonderful forms. Also, Choji loves barbecue crisps, and Rock Lee is inordinately fond of spicy curry.
- Naruto's mother Kushina also loves ramen. The only difference in this is that she loves a specific flavor of ramen above the others.
- Lots of characters have favorite foods, though mostly only revealed in data books. For example, Sasuke and tomatoes.
- No one mention Anko's love of Dango. So much that in one of the videogames, there's a mission where she goes into withdrawal and asks you to get her some.
- Sea Salt Ice Cream, yes, THAT Sea Salt Ice Cream. The trend first started with Jiraiya and then it was employed by Iruka, both to cheer Naruto out of a funk.
- The fairies from Mirumo de Pon! They're all pretty much tied to their favorite snacks, especially Mirumo and Murumo, to the point were all you need to do to get them to do what you want is offer them a large enough amount of the treat in question. Mirumo and chocolate, Murumo and marshmallows, Rirumu and cream puffs, Yashichi and karintou. Although Yashichi is known more for his penchant for panties than his choice snack, come to think of it.
- The favourite food of Doremi from Ojamajo Doremi is steak, and one of her image songs was even about her love of steaks. Unfortunately for her, it's a Running Gag that someone always eats her share of steak on the rare occasions it's served at the Harukazes' home, so she's only ever actually had a single bite of steak onscreen. There's also Aiko's more understated love for squid dumplings, and in Motto, Hana-chan has a Sweet Tooth for pudding.
- Also Momoko with her strawberry tart sweetness and sourness.
- Inuyasha is addicted to Ramen Instant Noodles, while Shippo likes lollipops. Both were introduced to said foods by Kagome, who brings them from home on a regular basis.
- Lapis of Detatoko Princess is addicted to pudding. This need drives the story much of the time.
- Doraemon and Dorayaki, a Japanese pastry.
- Nobita and the Salisbury steak.
- Shizuka and roasted sweet potato.
- The doraemons also have there own way of eating Dorayaki: Dora the kid eat with mustard and ketchup, while Dorami prefers melon flavored bread.
- Konata Izumi of Lucky Star and chocolate cornets.
- Also, in the anime Tsukasa has a strange obsession with balsamic vinegar, which led on to a Memetic Mutation of sorts. Barusamikosu!
- Konata likes to flanderize Pocky as Kagami's Trademark Favourite Food.
- Several characters in Death Note had a special interest in certain foods:
- Ryuk adores apples and goes through withdrawals when forced to go without them. Since Shinigami don't actually need to eat, apples are more like a drug to them than food. The postscript chapter suggests that all shinigami (or at least the Shinigami King) are the same: In the main story, he wouldn't give out any more Death Notes because of Ryuk... in the postscript chapter, he'd trade one for a couple apples.
- L has a pronounced sweet tooth and gorges himself on various sweets. He burns off the excess calories by thinking really hard. Actually justified, since about 50% of blood sugar is used by the brain...
- Mello is a chocoholic. In the anime, the snapping sound he makes when biting into a bar of chocolate is practically his Leitmotif. In the manga, a huge delivery of chocolate is the clincher to pinning down his hideout.
- The Encyclopedia, 13, says that Light prefers to take Barbecue-Flavored potato chips... AND EAT THEM.
- In the Mega Man NT Warrior (Rockman.EXE) Anime, main character Lan/Netto's favorite food is Curry. This is relevant to the point that WWW uses it to lure him into a trap.
- Also of note is Yai/Yaito's love for Strawberry Milk.
- Each of the mascot characters in Yes! Precure 5 has a different favorite snack. Coco likes choux a la creme, Nuts likes mamedaifuku (which can be sold at his girlfriend's family's store; this is made out to be a sign that they're destined), Milk likes chocolate, and Syrup likes (appropriately enough) pancakes.
- Ellis and Nadie from El Cazador de la Bruja loved tacos.
- As became the focus in one Newtype article during the remake's airing, each of the five main girls of Kanon has a favorite food associated with her:
- Ayu: Taiyaki — to the point of stealing it, although she is usually regretful about that.
- Nayuki: Strawberries (especially her mom's strawberry jam... not to be confused with the other flavour)
- Shiori: Ice cream
- Makoto: Pork buns
- Mai: Beef bowls
- In Galaxy Angel, Millefeuille loves pastries and sweets in general, Ranpha loves anything that's extremely spicy (And the others dread allowing her to cook), Mint adores junk foods such as potato chips and jelly beans, Forte has a soft spot for Oden stew, and Vanilla will eat just about everything (Including making a literal Chew Toy of Normad when starving), but prefers vegetarian dishes.
- Shana: Melon Bread. (Which is also one of the few things she can cook and make edible.) Her omake counterpart in the DVD specials, Shana-tan, even fires an endless stream of them out of Hammerspace as a weapon at one point.
- All variants and incarnations of Desty Nova (except the uber-evil Super Nova as of the moment) of Battle Angel Alita have an infamous love for flan. It goes to such lengths that Super Nova apparent lack of a flan-eating habit has become the indication of his evilness.
- Digimon:
- Digimon Savers's Agumon and fried eggs, Sarah/Sayuri's if at all possible.
- The Bridge Bunnies are fond of manju (though it doesn't come up as much as Agumon and fried eggs.)
- In Digimon Tamers, bread is pretty much Guilmon's favorite. He likes it so much that Takato's parents, who own a bakery, make him special bread shaped like his head and named after him. At least in the dub, he also likes peanut butter a lot.
- And in Digimon Adventure 02, Veemon's favorite food is chocolate and Hawkmon is absolutely nuts about pickled gourd rolls. Armadillomon's favorite is the ohagi Iori's mom makes, but he's just happy to have any food at all.
- There's a scene in the original where the kids discuss their recipes to cook eggs. Each Digidestined has their favorite, though Mimi grosses everyone out when she explains hers. (I believe it includes sugar). Aside of that, Mimi loves tuna and mayo riceballs and goes googly-eyed in 02 when Miyako gives her some.
- Digimon Savers's Agumon and fried eggs, Sarah/Sayuri's if at all possible.
- C.C. of Code Geass and pizza, but especially Pizza Hut.
- Hell, it's pretty much everybody's favorite food in the world of Code Geass. There is even an attempt of cooking the world's biggest pizza in Episode 21 and another in R2 Episode 5.
- Support the rebellion! Eat at Pizza Hut!
- Were any city halls burned down afterward?
- Hell, it's pretty much everybody's favorite food in the world of Code Geass. There is even an attempt of cooking the world's biggest pizza in Episode 21 and another in R2 Episode 5.
- Yue Ayase of Mahou Sensei Negima likes odd and unusual beverages, and is almost never shown drinking the same one twice. Might explain why she once was so desperate to go to the bathroom...)
- Yayoi Asuka of Koi Koi 7 and crab bread. Since she's The Ditz, this makes it even easier to distract her with the food.
- Lucia Nanami of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, being a mermaid, should not surprise you by liking shrimp. Hanon and Rina prefer cheesecake and vegetarian food, respectively.
- Miharu from Da Capo craves bananas, both in her human and robotic form.
- Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha's Vivio loves her caramel milk. It even gets a special mention in her character page. Also, Admiral Lindy and green tea... with two lumps of sugar and milk.
- Kinniku Mantaro/Kid Muscle of Kinnikuman Ni-sei/UltimateMuscle loved kalbi-don (Korean style grilled short-ribs and rice) so much, he had a song for it. And his dad Kinniku Suguru / King Muscle loved gyuudon (beef and rice) and also had a song for it. Like father, like son.
- In one episode of the Pokémon anime, Pikachu was crushed when a Scyther slashed apart a bottle of ketchup that he was eating out of. Too bad that particular episode was filler, though it did make its way into a number of fanfics.
- Pokémon is only loosely based off its source material (the games), thus even things in filler are canon (though some things are contradicted later in the series due the writers' forgetfulness).
- Was subtly shown again, early in the Hoenn arc. In a small throwaway scene Pikachu can be seen holding a bottle of ketchup again, and this time it looked like he was sucking at the contents with a straw.
- To be fair, ketchup does completely dominate the taste of anything it's put on, (which is why it's in a category with chili and ranch dressing as "things you put on bad food to make it edible"), so Pikachu eating it straight could just be him cutting out the hassle.
- Pikachu also seems to like apples.
- Emolga (specifically, Iris'), will do anything to get some apples for herself, and usually by the bushel.
- Thanks to Max, chocolate has become the Trademark Favorite Food of Lucario, when he gave the Fish Out of Temporal Water Lucario his first chocolate bar during the eighth movie. This was referenced in a later Diamond and Pearl episode, where Jessie tried bribing Maylene's Lucario to join them with a chocolate bar.
- Ash really enjoys hamburgers, they're usually the first thing he wants when he comes across a new town.
- He also will never turn down ice cream, as expected with a ten-year old.
- It's really very hard to find a food that Ash doesn't like.
- Afro Samurai has a preference for lemonade. His first drink of it was a high point in his generally crappy childhood.
- All the main characters in ~D.Gray-Man~ have had their favorite foods listed at one point, but Kanda takes it to the extreme, eating soba noodles for all three meals.
- Madlax: "Yeah...pasta!"
- Genta of Detective Conan always wants eel with rice.
- Also, more than one murder centers around the victim's favorite food or drink being laced with poison. So far some of the poisoned foods/drinks are: lemon tea, chocolate and cream cake, rice balls, soda, cherry pie...
- Churuya of Nyoron Churuya-san: Smoked cheese, nyoro~n!
- Saki: Yuki pretty much worships tacos and derives her Mahjong power from eating one (or, as a substitute, something that sounds like "taco") before a match.
- Axis Powers Hetalia — which is based on the idea of each country being an actual person — is filled with this trope. Closely related to Hollywood Cuisine.
- North Italy: PASTAAAAAAAAAAAA
- Germany: Wurst and potatoes
- Also, beer. Which is also Prussia's favorite drink.
- Japan: Sushi
- His female counterpart seems to prefer dango sticks
- America: Hamburgers
- His female counterpart is often seen with hotdogs.
- England: Tea and scones
- Russia: Vodka and pirozhki
- Finland: Salmiakki
- Sweden: Surströmming
- Canada: Maple syrup on everything
- Cuba: Ice cream (Though it may be noted that Canada and America like ice-cream, too.)
- South Italy and Spain: Tomatoes and churros
- South Korea: Kimchi
- His female counterpart is often portrayed with carrots, but she also seems to like kimchi.
- Denmark: Not stated directly, but hinted to be beer.
- Belgium: Waffles and chocolate.
- Poland: Paluzki, among other polish snacks.
- Austria has that thing for cake.
- Hong Kong: Judging from a chibi image, pork buns.
- Macau: Tea, according to another chibi
- Bulgaria: Yoghurt, according to Hetalia Bloodbath 2011
- Turkey: Anything sweet, but specially Ashure pudding.
- Taiwan: Bubble tea and tofu, according to her Image Song.
- Yotsuba&! can always be bribed with ice cream. She also has an affinity for curry (Super-delicious, indeed).
- Urd and Skuld from Ah! My Goddess can both recharge their powers via their comfort food of choice: ice cream for Skuld, sake for Urd. Belldandy loves sodas, but avoids it because one sip can get her roaring drunk.
- Ciel from Tsukihime loves curry.
- As does Chie, Ciel's Expy in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. And don't you dare disgrace curry by stuffing it in your speedo.
- The eponymous character from Space Battleship Yamamoto Yohko likes pocky. Her Montague Counterpart similarly likes sausages of any flavor, and rice cakes; pretty much anything phallic, really. That somehow hints the fact that he's actually a girl, but due to Phlebotinum Breakdown later, she became a he.
- Karin from Diamond Daydreams can't go a day without her beloved cream puffs. Shoko from the same series has a thing for pastrami sandwiches.
- Shiho from Zettai Karen Children is seen consuming pocky at least once per episode.
- Gash Bell likes his yellowtail tuna, preferring to eat it live... while he strips down to his birthday suit, much to Kiyomaro's consternation.
- Ren of DearS is utterly addicted to melon bread. To the point she saves old melon bread wrappers for the smell.
- Kululu of Keroro Gunsou loves curry so much, he bathes in it. Natsumi, meanwhile, seems to be rather fond of baked sweet potatoes.
- Dr Pepper for Okarin in Steins;Gate. He drinks it all the time.
- Honey in Ouran High School Host Club eats so much cake that his brother thinks he's an alien. Also, though she never gets to have any, Haruhi's longing for fancy tuna is a minor Running Gag.
- The gag went as far as Tamaki buying her an ootoro-shaped ring during New Year's! Tamaki also has a well-known love of commoner's food and never turns down the chance to try some. The character pages at the end of volume one state each character's favorite foods.
- The entire club is fascinated by Instant Coffee, which they think is an absolutely brilliant invention if one doesn't have time to grind actual beans (like commoners). They've more or less made it the "official drink of the Host Club".
- Also, Kuze and his oranges. Especially the peel.
- Inverted with Fai in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. One extra-chapter Omake has the cast eating sushi, and Fai is completely repulsed by the idea of eating raw fish. Even though it never comes up again, Fandom has latched onto this and it's become the basis for quite a few Kurogane x Fai Fan Fiction.
- In Eyeshield 21 Monta loves bananas, Mamori loves cream puffs, Marco loves cola, and Hiruma gets pissy if he doesn't have sugarless gum to chew.
- Horo of Spice and Wolf gets excited over a lot of food, but none more so than apples, preferably straight. Her love of apples is even played up in the ending theme song.
- Bob Poundmax in Gungrave loves fried chicken drumsticks. It's very rare for him to be seen without a chicken drumstick in his hand. Although he doesn't so much as chew the drumsticks as he just inhales them by the bucketful.
- In Hand Maid May, Cyberdoll Sara loves ramen.
- And don't forget Milk.
- Half-alien teacher Mizuho Kazami of Please Teacher eats pocky (or, actually, the similarly-named-but-not-trademark-infringing "Pochy") because it reminds her of her father, who was human. In the sequel Please Twins, Miina Miyafuji has a similar attachment to Pretz (or, as it's called in the show, "Prech"), though her preference isn't similarly explained.
- In School Rumble, much is made of the various male characters' preference for curry vs. beef-and-potato stew. Karasuma, the oblivious target of main character Tenma Tsukamoto's love, is the most food-obsessed, at one point stating he prefers curry to poor Tenma.
- The eponymous Ponyo from Ponyo On a Cliff By The Sea loves ham.
- Not exactly a food, as opposed to a drink, but Rika from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni really does like wine. We see her a lot with a bottle of it, in front of her friends, in omakes and official art.
- Of course, this serves a very specific purpose: If you were stuck in her situation, you'd drink heavily too. Also, she always drinks Bernkastel brand wine.
- Cream puffs for Hanyuu.
- Tenma in Monster loves soy sauce, as Lampshaded by Heckel.
- Eiichiro Oda, in his SBS Question Corner, once listed each main One Piece character's favorite food:
- Monkey D. Luffy — Meat. To the point that when he prepares to take back everything that was stolen from them on Thriller Bark, he prioritizes them as "meat, Nami, and shadows". This did not go unlampshaded. The One Piece-Toriko crossover shows that Luffy's perfect meal consists entirely of meat--including the dessert and the beverage.
- Roronoa Zoro — White rice, sea king meat, and anything that compliments ale
- Nami — Mainly oranges as well as other kinds of fruit
- Usopp — Pike from an autumn island as well as other fish of the season, hates mushrooms
- Sanji — Spicy seafood pasta and food that compliments black tea

- Nico Robin — Sandwiches, cakes that aren't too sweet and food that complements coffee
- Franky — Hamburgers, french fries and food that complements cola
- Brook — Tea and takoyaki
- In Kimi ni Todoke, Chizuru Yoshida's affection for her childhood friend Ryu Sanada led her to spend much of her youth at his family's ramen shop, to the point that she jokingly says she might want to "be a ramen" when she grows up.
- Viewtiful Joe, in the anime, is nigh-obsessive about cheeseburgers.
- Plue from Rave Master and sweets, with lollipops being the highest on his list.
- Yuuko and the black Mokona from XxxHolic are often asking for more liquor. Doesn't seem to impact their ability to run the shop, though.
- In Sailor Moon All of the senshi have a favorite food (listed in their character profiles, but only occasionally show up in the manga or the two animes):
- Moon/Usagi loves sweets (like cake and ice cream) so much, she even lists it as a hobby. (The DiC dub adds peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to her list)
- Chibi-Moon/Chibiusa loves Pudding and Pancakes.
- The Manga profiles also list the food they hate the most. Ironically, Chibi-Usa and Usagi both list this as Carrots. (Usagi means Rabbit...)
- Mercury/Ami loves Sandwiches and anmitsu (A Japanese Dessert). In the first anime she's sometimes holding on a book with one hand and grabbing sandwiches to eat with the other.
- Mars/Rei loves Fugu (a blowfish which is highly toxic and considered a delicacy in Japan). In the DiC dub, it's vegetarian pizza.
- Jupiter/Makoto loves All foods, cherry pie and meatloaf in particular.
- Venus/Minako likes curry rice and ramen. In the dub, it's pasta.
- Uranus/Haruka: Salad.
- Neptune/Michiru: Sashimi (A type of slived Raw fish often cofused for sushi in the west)
- Pluto/Setsuna: Green Tea
- Saturn/Hotaru: Soba (buckwheat) noodles
- Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask: Never really got one, but the anime frequently showed him drinking coffee. It was even used in a joke where in a romantic moment alone with Usagi he suddenly abandoned her to go to the kitchen and drink more coffee. Some sources list chocolate as another favorite, which some fanfic authors ran with.
- Sage/Seiji of Ronin Warriors is sometimes heard mumbling about wanting to eat pumpkin during group songs. It shows up in doujin and art books with some regularity.
- Alice in Pandora Hearts loves meat.
- Cooro from + Anima adores apples.
- Tasuki from Fushigi Yuugi loves sake. And he also seems to love peaches.
- Miaka is a Big Eater who loves all types of food, but she seems to specially like pork buns.
- Yugi and hamburgers.
- Yami Bakura really, really likes rare meat.
- Judai in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX loves fried shrimp.
- In the 4kids dub, Chumley has a noticeable obsession with grilled cheese sandwiches.
- Following in his predecessors' footsteps, Yusei Fudo can't shake his connection with milk after that one episode.
- Jack Atlas has two; Blue-Eyes Mountain Coffee and cup ramen.
- Cup ramen appears to be a favorite for multiple characters, Jack, Yusei, Crow and Jeager are all shown to adore the stuff.
- Jack Atlas has two; Blue-Eyes Mountain Coffee and cup ramen.
- The title character in A Little Snow Fairy Sugar loves waffles. In fact, her Catch Phrase is "Waffo!", which her mispronunciation of the food's name.
- Only in Gintama can a character consume revolting quantities of mayonaise and still be badass. Hijikata's lighter is even shaped like a mayo bottle.
- Also, Okita's sister Mitsuba loves super spicy crackers. Considering Gintama is a Gag Series, this particular gag was used very effectively for humor and drama.
- Kagura and her sukonbu (pickled seaweed).
- Yamazaki and AN-PAN AN-PAN ANPANANPANANPANANPANANPANANPANANPANANPANANPANANAPAN...although that may just a recent thing.
- Yamazaki actually hates anpan. He only eats it when he is on mission, because he thinks that it is what a spy should eat.
- Sa-chan and natto (fermented soybeams. They look icky), to the point of being named the "natto ninja" in one chapter.
- Don't forget the protagonist himself; Gintoki and Chocolate Parfaits, and pretty much any sweets. To the point that his parallel to Hijikata's Special consist of red bean paste on rice.
- Tomie demands foie gras and caviar a few times, although it is uncertain whether she likes it or just wants to have the most expensive things, seeing as she at one point in the series says that she's grown tired of eating it.
- Erza from Fairy Tail loves strawberry cake; when someone makes her drop it, RUN.
- Natsu loves anything that's covered in fire. Justified as it's his Power-Up Food.
- Most characters in Bleach are listed as having a favorite food. Most notably are Yachiru and Rin's obsessions with candy and sweets and Aizen's infamous affiliation for tea.
- Orihime loves red bean paste, and buttered sweet potatoes, hotdogs (which she sometimes eats for breakfast), and ESPECIALLY donuts, which she hilariously pesters Riruka for.
- As mentioned above, Riruka's favorite food is donuts; she's seen eating them in the last OP of the anime. In the meantime, her companion Ginjou Kugo seems to prefer ramen soup.
- .Hack//Sign has BT... Who likes BLTs without the lettuce, hence her character name. One episode as a whole scene devoted to characters discussing this.
- Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara likes milk (and dairy products in general, according to his profile) probably far more than is healthy. Not only is he known to down around six bottles of it during a meal, but it's one of the few things that's managed to avert one of his trademark Unstoppable Rages entirely. Understandably, he needs it for his Required Secondary Powers, that is, bones that are Made of Iron that can handle his Hair-Trigger Temper-induced Super Strength.
- The eponymous character from Oruchuban Ebichu loves camembert cheese and ice cream.
- She's also extremely fond of syrup.
- Ferris Eris of The Legend of the Legendary Heroes really loves dango (a type of Japanese dumpling). She asks for them as payment from Sion to help track down the person trying to kill him, and later (earlier from the audience's perspective perspective, since that happened in a flashback) refers to him as a "devil" for not paying up.
- Subverted in Darker Than Black with Burger-kun. He has a renumeration of eating a hamburger after each use of his super speed. He may have liked them before, but now he is just sick of them.
- Satellizer from Freezing loooooves burgers.
- Aisa from To Aru Majutsu no Index, also loooooves burgers and both are voiced by Mamiko Noto.
- Even Extreme Omnivore Kirby has a favorite food in Kirby of the Stars: watermelons. Though this is probably because of the size and shape rather than the taste, seeing as how he swallows them whole.
- Chieri from The Cherry Project is seen eating chocolate-covered bananas all the time. Her not-boyfriend comments:
"You're Cherry but you like bananas? You're weird." |
- Yukari-Sensei from Azumanga Daioh REALLY likes Snow crab and Matsusaka beef, so much so that she will beat the shit out of you if you've had it before her.
- Trigun's Vash has a fondness for doughnuts. Early parts of the series frequently used the running gag of him "accepting" them as a gift when they really were meant for someone else. Even in the latter part of the series, he still manages to joyously gorge himself on them.
- The doughnuts were intended as a peace offering for Vash. Milly just didn't know he was the Vash the Stampede they'd been looking for.
- Yumekui Merry is also addicted to doughnuts. The first time she bites into one, she declares it the best thing she's ever eaten in her life and calls them "Reality's treasure"... which gives one to wonder what sort of things, exactly, they usually eat in Dream Land.
- Carbonated drinks of any sort are her Trademark Least Favorite Food.
- Kekkaishi's Yoshimori loves his coffee-flavored milk, in part because of his Triple Shifter lifestyle. He also has a Sweet Tooth, and loves to bake his own cake (plus is REALLY good at it).
- Ika Musume, being a squid, loves shrimp.
- Doesn't come up in the series proper (she dies pretty quickly), but secondary materials state that Charlotte of Puella Magi Madoka Magica loves cheese, despite having the power to make as many sweets as she wants. Within fanworks, where she is quite popular, this is used to it's fullest.
- Acutally, it does come up in the series. The translation of some certain phrases in German seen in the episde is this: "I'm Charlotte. I love cheese. I want only cheese. There's no cheese anywhere!" Understandably, it's hard to catch until you know your German.
- Hazuki from Ame Nochi Hare enjoys chocolate so much that he will always keep some with him all the time.
- Bamboo shoots is the favorite food of Sei from Koihime Musou. It's almost taken to insane levels about her obssession with bamboo shoots. For example, don't insult bamboo shoots, or eat spoiled ones without asking, or YOU WILL PAY!
- Shinsuke Maki from Future GPX Cyber Formula is quite fond of sandwiches, as he would make anything into one. Karl Lichter von Randoll absolutely loves black tea, to the point he would drink tea in pit, during pit stops and even in the middle of the races.
- Most of the characters have their favorite foods described in their profiles: Hayato and curry rice, Asuka and cake, Shinjyo and rice balls (particularly Miki's rice balls), Osamu and Asuka's cooking (which is rather odd as Asuka's a Lethal Chef), Miki and rice, tea and rice crackers, Kyoko and Italian cuisine, Henri and all kinds of sweets and pastries, Clair and pie, Gudelhian and ice cream and almost all Japanese foods, Heinel and kaiseki (traditional Japanese multi-course meals), Bootsvorz and anything spicy and super-sweet, Phill and his caregiver's cooking, Leon and his mother's stew, Marie and fish and vegetables.
- Special A lists all the characters' favorites, but the one that's most notable is Kei Takishima, who prefers the cooking of his crush Hikari Hanazono over everything else in existence. He's quite literally blind to the fact that she's actually a Lethal Chef; everyone thinks he's insane when he says that she's the best cook in the world.
- There are quite a few in Metal Fight Beyblade: Ginga and hamburgers, Yuu and ice cream, Doji and orange juice, Tobio and his ever-present blue lollipop, Masamune and those spicy sticks he's always munching on...
- 'Spaceburgers' are only food we ever see Tiny eating on Battle of the Planets.
- According to the preview of episode 4, Tiger and Bunny's protagonist Kotetsu puts mayonnaise on everything he eats. But because he consumes a disproportionate amount of fried rice — either because he really likes it, doesn't know how to cook anything else, or both — Barnaby assumes that to be his favourite; in the second-to-last episode, he admits that he's been learning to make the dish so he could cook for Kotetsu.
- Ryo-Ohki from the Tenchi Muyo! series is a major carrot addict; in one ending sequence, she manages to harvest one the size of a car and eats it whole.
- As the local Ladette, Ryoko adores drinking sake.
- Majin Buu from Dragonball Z really loves candy. Unfortunately, his main source isn't the candy store, but people, which he uses to turn them into various sweets.
- Chiaotzu's favorite food is tenshindon. Tien Shinhan's favorite food is Jiaozi. Consider the alternate spellings and pronunciations for those foods.
- Mawaru Penguindrum has Ringo and curry. There's another reason behind it, though.
- The Creepy Twins Shirase and Souya like drinking carrot juice. Even in their bunny forms.

- Popeye
- Popeye: Spinach, which is also his Power-Up Food.
- Wimpy: Hamburgers
- Olive Oyl: Olives

- J'onn was even buried with one.
- Garfield and lasagna — the joke being that such a time-consuming and intricate meal is being served to a housecat. I think they even have licensed Garfield lasagna.

- Breaker from G.I. Joe is constantly chewing gum. He's literally never seen without it and is willing to ignore direct orders to discard it.
- All of the Dreadnoks are inordinately fond of grape soda and chocolate donuts. It's pretty much all they talk about, and sometimes the only thing they can ever agree on. Though if donuts are unavailable, chocolate anything else will do. Sometime after the fall of Cobra, Torch eventually went into the business of making the stuff himself with the wildly successful "Uncle Winkin's Hard Grape Soda Company". He probably did this solely to get it for free and just the way he likes it.
- In Asterix, while roast wild boar is the staple diet of most of the Gauls, Obelix in particular obsesses over it. Being a Big Eater, he will have an entire boar, if not several.

- The two stupid rat creatures from Bone like their quiche, though they don't get it often (and one is in denial).
- Deadpool likes Taco Bell chimichangas.
- Not so much eating them, mind you. He just enjoys saying "chimichanga".

He manages to eat 7 plates (6 as part of a bet, over who would pay the check, between him and his nephews, and one more of the "Lentils from Babylon"), and appears to be willing to eat another six. He amazingly declares that he ate the latter for "marketing reasons", since the renowned lentils were actually mixed with linseed oil by the Beagle Boys, who, after packaging them at Duckberg (the linseed and their tampering with the ads ensuring that sales were kept low), bought them back at exceedingly low prices and, pricy export after pricy export from one country to another, cleaned them when they returned to Babylon, and so forth. Scrooge also seems to favor lettuce and tomato sandwiches, but that might be because they're cheap. It is also stated in other stories that 176-167 has a great fondness for prunes.

He also makes a crack that they're "good for your vision," going toward his superhuman aiming skills.
- The Proposition has Charlie Burns, eater of kangaroos.
- Darryl Zero of The Zero Effect stockpiles Tab soda and canned tuna, amongst several other strange food obsessions.

- Alex of A Clockwork Orange with his Milk Plus, which he drinks in preparation for a bit of the old Ultraviolence.
- Harry Knuckles and bananas.
Literature[]
- Ax of Animorphs and cinnamon buns. Considering his adoration of chocolate, chilli, and cigarette stubs, establishing one thing as his trademark favorite food is quite a feat. One of the subtle differences in the AU book Back to Before was that Ax was never introduced to cinnamon buns, and instead fixated on Oreos (possibly as an Homage to the Martian Manhunter) as they were given out at the mental institution he was in. (Don't ask.)
- In The Dresden Files universe, the lesser fae (wyldfae) are absolutely insane for pizza. In fact, in "Small Favor", they have even formed a Pizza Guard for Harry because he's given them so much pizza, and refer to him as the "Za Lord". And in the next book, Turn Coat, he raises a militia of the little guys. With only the promise of a large pizza for every fourscore lesser wyldfae to flock to his "banner".
- Also, Harry loves his Coke. Sometimes it seems like he runs exclusively on it. He even has a cap with a silver-on-black Coca-Cola logo. He also really likes Burger King.
- In the Discworld novels featuring Susan Sto Helit, Quoth the raven is obsessed with eating eyeballs, but he tends to mistake vaguely eyeballish foods like pickled olives and walnuts for his favored treat.
- Rincewind and potatoes. This started as a Running Gag in Interesting Times, but has become a fundamental part of his character since. In Science of Discworld II, when the Elf Queen tries to find his deepest desire (dismissing the "stupid tuber"), he comes up with "sour cream topped with chives". This stems from an extended time Rincewind spent marooned on a desert island. He was safe and had food, but the two things he lacked were female companionship and potatoes. Some wires got badly crossed in his head.
- Archchancellor Ridcully will never eat a meal unless it's slathered in seasoning, particularly his family's ancestral Wow-Wow Sauce, a seasoning so pungent as to be downright dangerous.

- Senor Enrico Basilica (from Maskerade) is assumed by everyone to really love Brindisian pasta, and is given it at every opportunity. Since he lies about being from Brindisi, this is not actually his native food and he's, at that point, sick to death of it.
- On the other hand, Bengo Macarona, a Genuan transplant in Unseen Academicals, actually does like pasta, not to the point of bringing it up frequently but certainly requesting it during one of the wizards' extended food-ordering sequences. He also keeps dried reheatable pasta in his room for emergencies.

- Nanny Ogg's Cookbook strongly implies that ham rolls are Gytha Ogg's party food of choice, as she drops numerous hints that having a few of these on hand for any surprise-guest witches who might happen by would not be amiss. Sometimes more than once in the same paragraph.
- Even though he doesn't need to eat, Death likes curry, to the extent that the Curry Gardens in Ankh-Morpork now recognizes Death's trusty steed Binky on sight.

- Dumbledore and sherbet lemons (or lemon drops depending which edition you're reading) as well as candies in general, except for Every Flavor Beans.
- Karen Traviss's books in Star Wars Legends, any and every character who has ever tried this one dense syrupy cake made by Mandalorians has it as their absolute favorite. They say something along the lines of "It's good, but it's not uj cake" approximately every time they eat any other food. It looks like Traviss uses uj cake as shorthand for how incredibly awesome and superior Mandalorians are supposed to be.
- Same universe — the X Wing Series has Corellians and ryshcate, which is only for special occasions; traditionally it's shared to remind Corellians of their homeworld and to smooth out grievances. It's hard to get the right ingredients, which are expensive, so it only shows up a few times. While Corellians really like it and so do the people they share it with, it isn't uj cake.
- In The Thrawn Trilogy, Luke Skywalker mentions that Lando introduced him to an exotic beverage called hot chocolate, which he enjoys. Later-written books and comics will, if they don't make up a new drink, also have him ordering or making hot chocolate, and he liked it enough to stash some of the pods needed to make it in his brother-in-law's freighter. His wife, family, and various friends also come to like it. But it isn't uj cake.

- Dexter is a big fan of good food in general (he heaps praises upon Rita's cooking), but has a thing for cuban sandwiches.
- Shows up a few times (of course) in the Honorverse. Vieing for "most notable" are Honor's predilection for hot chocolate, and the absolute adoration of celery that Nimitz shares with his entire (carnivorous!) species. Other noticeable standbys are Old Tillerman Ale (seemingly the only beer Manticoran officers ever share) and "The Delacourt", the vintage of wine that Honor breaks out to celebrate any really special occasion.

- Katniss once ate lamb stew and mentioned how much she liked it. She is then given stew several times throughout the books.
- Sam in A Tale of Time City loves Forty-Two Century butter pies. Actually they seem to be everyone's favourite food, but Sam will cheerfully hack into the banking system in order to steal enough credits for hundreds of butter pies, then gorge himself sick. It's implied that his father is also addicted.
- Hannibal Lecter obviously likes people. To eat. In the drinks department, he's partial to wine, especially red, probably due to it's blood-colouration. Then there was that census-taker who's liver he ate "with some fava beans and a big Amarone." Ffft, fft, fft.

- The Brady Bunch:
- In several episodes, it appears the Bradys are partial to pizza. Several episodes have the kids taking their dates to local pizzareias (including, most famously, "Peter and the Wolf," where in the climatic scene two girls try to seduce a fake-mustachioed Peter to get back at Greg ... only to nearly cause Mike to lose an important business deal to his conservative-valued client), while Greg buys his sweetie Rachel a pizza to share during the drive-in scene of "Greg Gets Grounded" (but it's the jumping frogs who get to feast). The Bradys eat pizza during a dinner scene in the episode "Bobby's Hero," and in "The Cincinnati Kids" Bobby and Cindy talk about going to a pizza stand after they get tired out looking for Mike's blueprints.

However, in the first ever episode, it is revealed that he loves coffee...and raw beef liver.
- Family Matters: Urkel would do anything for some cheese, and has other weird food tastes including frogs legs and anchovy paste; reflecting Jaleel White's real-life favorite food, the nerd also loves ice cream. Carl (the police officer) enjoys the stereotypical cop favorite, doughnuts.

- Married... with Children:
- Peg is very fond of bon-bons, and in one episode, she makes her own, which takes whoever eats one a while to chew it enough times to swallow.

- And tea pops up many times over the series. Originally a Gallifreyan habit, or just another of those things the Doctor enjoys about Earth?

- Twelve really seems to like either a good cup of coffee or a packet of crips.
- A Running Gag is that all Time Lords think that beans on toast is humanity's Trademark Favorite Food.

- Worf developed a taste for prune juice, which apparently tastes just like really strong Klingon Blood Wine of exceptional quality... or just tastes really nasty. Klingon tastes are strange. - Played straight with Trip and his pecan paah, though not to excess.

Tao: "Please. For all our sakes." |

- Buffy and Willow both like mochas for the caffeine and sugar.
- It's not mentioned often, but Buffy likes cheese quite a lot: enough to be part of the information that the Buffybot has on her.
- Spike and Andrew: onion blossoms.
- Shake It Up has Flynn and his bacon. At the end of the pilot, he came home with several pounds of it.
- Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks is completely enamored of the cherry pie and coffee at the local diner. It's unclear whether he's always so enthusiastic about these dishes or if he thinks the diner is just that good. It's often said that Kyle MacLachlan either hated both from the start, or grew sick of these during the course of filming. Rumors are conflicting.
- Monica from Touched By an Angel loves coffee so much she tried to put it in everything, much to Tess' horror (she once made coffee-flavored biscuits). Her 100th-case party had the following edibles: coffee ice cream, coffee cake, coffee cookies, chocolate-covered coffee beans, and mocha latte with whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkles.
- Glee
- Santana and Mercedes will break the law for breadsticks and tater tots respectively. And Will is shown eating a cookie in almost every episode.

- Emma and her grapes.
- Coach Beiste eats a Rotisserie chicken with every meal, apparently.

- Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad has a thing for Funyuns.
- Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation has sugar in general and waffles with whipped cream in particular.
- Barney Stinson of How I Met Your Mother can be constantly seen drinking Red Bull energy drinks. In fact, because of the amount of free advertising he has given them, Neil Patrick Harris now gets free Red Bull for Life. And they also gave him a mini fridge.
- Omar of The Wire loves his breakfast cereal, especially Honey Nut Cheerios, which he can never seem to find. In one scene he walks out in his bathrobe to the local store to buy a new box, even though he's got a price on his head. His reputation is so fearsome, however, that the local pushers who do see him toss out their stashes rather than risk a fight.
- Supernatural has Dean and pie explicitly stated. However, he very rarely enjoys it, as Sam forgetting to buy it is a Running Gag. In the background, there's also Sam and salads and Ruby and french fries. Castiel's host Jimmy Novak had a love of red meat used to comic effect by Famine, who drove Castiel to being compared to the Hamburglar and eating handfuls of raw meat.
- Fringe's Walter Bishop seems to develop a new favorite food Once an Episode, although his love of ice cream in various forms (most often strawberry milkshakes and root beer floats) remains constant.
- Jimmy from Raising Hope really enjoys fruit, mostly because his parents told him he was allergic to it. The reason? When he was a kid, Jimmy would eat all the fruit in the house.
- Rex Dynamo from Pixelface is obsessed with apples.
- Makito from Mahou Sentai Magiranger loves his famous "aniki salad" and veggie kebabs. Justified as he's a farmer and also loves to feed everyone else the vegetables he works hard to grow. All the siblings love apple pie, which their mother used to bake for them to calm their fights and bad tempers.
Music[]
- Insane Clown Posse has a funning theme of Faygo, a regional brand of soda pop, which they work into lyrics: "Send yo mama straight out to the sto'/Tell that bitch to bring home a Faygo". Members of the audience often douse themselves and the band in the stuff. As a family-friendly company, however, the makers of Faygo have, on multiple occasions, clarified that they are in no way affiliated with the hyper-violent Insane Clowns.
- All the Vocaloids have a favorite food, decided by the fans. The most famous is Hatsune Miku's, whose character item is leeks/negi, which was a result of this video

- Barenaked Ladies has a running theme of Macaroni & Cheese (Kraft Dinner) to the point that they were often pelted by it.
- The Beastie Boys mention White Castle a lot especially on their earlier songs (Licensed to Ill alone featured a reference to the burger joint on every other track).

- Johann Sebastian Bach wrote the Coffee Cantata, which tells the story of a young woman who really likes her coffee.

Mythology[]
- The Dagda of the mythological Irish clan of gods the Tuatha de Danann had such a liking for porridge that the one of the four mythological treasures the gods were said to have given mankind (other than a spear, a sword and the Lia Fáil) was his magic cauldron that sated even the harshest of critics. He was even incapacitated by the enemy who made him so much porridge he was unable to resist until he crawled away with an embarassingly large belly.
- Kappa in Japanese mythology love cucumbers. One way to keep someone safe from Kappas was to carve their name into a cucumber; if a Kappa accepts it, they won't harm that person. The maki roll with cucumber in it is even named kappa maki after them.
Tabletop Games[]
- One Paranoia mission introduces two Gamma-clearance citizens (cloned from two of the original programmers of The Computer) who maintain the core systems — and occasionally organize missions to the Outdoors to go scrounge up more Twinkies and Coke.
Theatre[]
- In A Very Potter Musical Ron (and Harry) love Red Vines.
What the hell can't they do? |
Video Games[]
- Xiba from Soul Calibur loves steam buns. Many of his lines nod to this, such as "Now bring me some steam buns. Lots of them!"
- The Super Mario Bros.: Mushrooms and pasta. This was especially true in the cartoons. Each episode had Mario mentioning pasta at least once, while pizza was the only thing the live-action segments ever showed Mario and Luigi eating. Lotsa spaghetti!
- Mario's soul assessment by the Star Gate in Partners in time reveals that Mario's diet is filled with much alfredo sauce, and that he needs to cut down on carbonara. However, it also recommends puttanesca, for that stuff is great.
- If you don't move Mario in Super Mario 64 for five minutes or so, he will sleep in the floor and dream of spaghetti and ravioli.
- Similiarly, Yoshis like all sorts of food, but honeydew melons are their absolute favorite in Yoshi's Story. For the best score, you have to find 30 of them in every level.
- Each Yoshi also had a particular favorite among the regular fruits, which were twice as many points worth as the rest.
- Wario: Garlic cloves, which is apparently the 'evil' counterpart to Mario's mushrooms. (Hey, they both appear on pizzas...)
- To go with his purple theme, Waluigi has eggplant instead of garlic.
- Cotton from the series of games of the same name has candies called Willows as her favorite food.
- Donkey Kong has an obsession with bananas, going so far as to hoard them and go to great lengths to recover them.
- Link of The Legend of Zelda is very fond of milk. He's also so hungry, he could eat an Octorok!
- In Wind Waker Link absolutely loves his grandma's soup (which also recovers HP, magic AND doubles his attack power!).
- All three games in the Earthbound/Mother series ask for your favorite food at the game's start. You could either use your own or canon favorites of the characters.
- Ninten: Prime Ribs. (Steak is often used but Ribs was confirmed in the MOTHER encyopedia)
- Ness: Steak (specifically Salisbury steak)
- Lucas: Omelets (is also the favorite food of his whole family)
- Also, Fassad of Mother 3 loves bananas and is often seen eating them at the most impromptu times and leaving the peels on the floor. The last part comes back to bite him later.
- Dr. Andonuts and, well, donuts.
- Flint LOVES cheese!
- Don't forget Duster! He LOVES cheese too!
- Sie Kensou of The King of Fighters: Meat Buns. He eats one in his taunt. There's even a variation in his usual intro where he chokes on it, turns blue and then finally gets it down.
- Taokaka from Blaz Blue also loves her Meat Buns. She and Kensou would probably get along if she wasn't so damn crazy.
- Yunsung of Soul Calibur got distracted from Soul Edge by Meat Buns in the Good Ending of Soul Calibur 3.
- Carl Clover from the same game as Taokaka has a love for cookies according to his official profile.
- Jubei Yamada of Fatal Fury loves Sembe rice crackers. Which he also uses as a weapon. Geese Howard's favourite is rare steak.
- Kain R Heinlein of Mark of the Wolves loves apple pie/
- Leon Magnus of Tales of Destiny loves strawberry flans, and this is used a lot for comedic results.
- Cecilia of Wild ARMs can polish off many servings of Burgers/Curry in one sitting. Lilka of Wild Arms 2 instead gets jelly rolls.
- Gig of Soul Nomad and The World Eaters and hotpods. In one memorable cutscene, he even said that when he destroys the world, hotpods are the only thing he'll spare.
- Every character in Star Ocean and ~Star Ocean: The Second Story~ has a favorite food which you can cook, which restores all their HP and MP. They generally make sense and/or poke fun at the character. Brooding Joshua likes the high-class escargot, perky Millie and Precis are partial to sugar-filled fruit parfait and chocolate crepes, and cat-people Perisie and Noel like tuna. Manly Cius and Iria, and boozer Opera, like various alcoholic drinks. Main character Claude likes good old steak.
- Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater seems to decide for Naked Snake's trademark food to be Snakes and Frogs (the former allowing for his Mission Control to call him a cannibal) — to the point where the latter is referred to in the theme tune.
- Hell, the subtitle of the game is Snake Eater.
- In the same game, EVA is very fond of instant noodles.
- His son Solid is a fan of blueberries. Sunny is into fried eggs, but that may be because that's the only thing she knows how to cook.
- Hell, the subtitle of the game is Snake Eater.
- Most of your potential marriage partners in the Harvest Moon series have a particular favorite foodstuff that will raise their affection levels much faster than normal. (Ex: Muffy in HM DS is inordinately fond of apple pie).
- In particular, Rick from Friends of Mineral Town loves Spa-Boiled Eggs, and in one of his Heart Events, he tells you this and shows you how to make them.
- Unique among the Loads and Loads of Characters in the series is the Harvest Goddess, who has the same favorite food (strawberries) in every game she's appeared in.
- In Psychonauts, Ford Cruller's favorite food is bacon. He loves it so much, just waving a piece of bacon around is enough to mentally summon him for advice.
- In the Magi Nation card game and video game, Evu, Elder of Naroom, loves jellybeans. Yes, in a fantasy world with more-or-less Medieval Stasis. Don't question it.
- Given his senility, it might be a reference to Ronald Reagan.
- A general example in Fable 2. Everyone in the game has things they like, most of them have an object/gift they like, and about half of those are food. (Doing things people like will make them like you more, and thus give you better discounts at stores)
- Fire Emblem
- Ike of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn has a fondness for meat — this does come up a few times in the games, but the way fanartists (especially JPN ones) depict him constantly eating caveman-style slabs of it would make you think it was the meaning of his existence.
- In Fire Emblem Awakening, Gaius and Olivia have HUGE Sweet Tooths while Lon'qu likes cabbage stew and the Avatar, whether a guy or a girl, likes bear meat and eel/liver pie.
- Fire Emblem Fates: Each player is given one or two food tiles in their base (My Castle), and characters who watch over said tiles will often mention their favorite food and meals. ie., strawberries (Azura), fruit and especially red apples (Selena); rice, fruits and soybean powder (Selkie); vegetables, fried soybeans and fish (Kaden); tofu, watermelons and vegetables in general (Setsuna), sweetcorn (Camilla), grilled fish and rice (Hinata), etc.
- Princess Sakura is infamous for her Sweet Tooth, ie., she can eat several mochi pastries in seconds, and she's reluctant to go into the Beach Brawl until she learns that the prize (a vacation in a tropical island) includes all the fruit one can eat.
- Prince Leo's love of tomatoes has become a whole Fountain of Memes, including an alter for Fire Emblem: Heroes where he uses tomato sandwiches as if they were spellbooks.
- Saizo seems to be fond of fish and seafood in general, and his ENG supports with Mozu are about a specific seafood dish that he really loves because it's from his village and it reminds him of home.
- In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it's said that Crests users in general tend to have Sweet Tooths. Edelgard and Lysithea prove it right, whereas Felix averts it.
- Raphael loves meat, so much that he eats it during a war council in Verdant Wind. Felix and Ingrid also have a major fondness for it, though not to that extent.
- Lorenz and Ferdinand are absolutely obsessed with tea, so much that their C support has them borderline flirting with each other over it.
- Hapi of the Ashen Wolves loves fruit and pastries; one of her lost items is a basket of berries, and her C support with Constance has her buying an armload of pastries that can only supposedly taste good crammed into one's mouth all at once.
- Flayn loves fish and seafood, a big part of it being due to her memories of her late mother catching and cooking it for her and Seteth.
- In Fire Emblem Engage, Princess Timerra is a big fan of meat and Clanne adores pickles to the point where he's always making his own. Seadall is also fond of meat and sweets, though he's obsessed with keeping fit to the point of fretting if he wants to eat them.
- Kirby loves Maxim Tomatoes in the games. In the anime, he's obsessed with watermelons, to the point that it was his first word. If Kirby Squeak Squad is anything to go by, he also loves cake, and will do whatever it takes to get it back!
- The Jansen Family of Baldur's Gate. Turnips.
- GlaDOS of Portal likes cake a bit?
- The cake is a lie!
- No, it exists! You just don't get any.
- The cake is a lie!
- Sonic the Hedgehog is fond of chili dogs in the western cartoons, to such an extent that it's found it's way into recent games.
- Similarly, the AOSTH interpretation of Robotnik / Eggman was known for having a diet that contained nothing but eggs. It was noted by Grounder in one episode that "He's had eggs everyday for the last ten years."
- Supplementary materials note that Tails likes Mint candies in the original games. More obvious in one of his limelight games, Tails Sky Patrol where mint candies serve as health power ups.
- The older game manuals also mentioned Knuckles being partial to fruit. Grapes being his favorite.
- In Sonic Unleashed, there was Professor Pickle, who had a thing for Cucumber Sandwiches.
- The Fairy Companion from Sonic Unleashed, Chip, had a thing for chocolate.
- The British continuity (Sonic the Comic etc) retains the thing with Robotnik and eggs, but has Sonic, Tails and all their friends have an obsession with all fast food that is hilariously (possibly deliberately) dissonant with the theme of them coming from a green natural zone as opposed to Robotnik's industrialism.
- Sonic himself seemed quite fond of (bean) burgers.
- Minori from Brass Restoration loves rice. That might be partly because that's all she can cook.
- According to the manual, Lemeza from La-Mulana claims "curry" as one of his favorite things in the world, period. The pause animation for the game has Lemeza's sprite gorge himself on curry, then take a nap. This is actually an in-joke/reference to the fact that when they needed a last name for the character, they settled on "Kosugi" when they saw a commercial for premixed curry where that is the name of the mascot.
- The Heavy from Team Fortress 2 sure loves his sandwiches.
"YOU NOT TOUCH SANDVICH!" |
- The BLU Soldiers' apartment is littered with empty tomato soup cans and boxes of ribs.
- Of course, there's the Demoman's infatuation with scrumpy.
- Pop from Luminous Arc 2 and her crabs and anything made with crabs. Yes, even crab gelato.
- Luna loves her water.
- Jack in MadWorld is often soon chowing down on onions, they even restore him to full health in-game.
- Fandom has taken Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2's fondness for Sea-Salt ice cream and run with it.
- Considering that in 358/2 Days, he eats it with his friends EVERY. SINGLE. DAY...
- But that's mostly because Roxas doesn't really understand the concept of friendship, he believes that eating ice cream with someone = being friends with them
- Are you suggesting it's not?
- But that's mostly because Roxas doesn't really understand the concept of friendship, he believes that eating ice cream with someone = being friends with them
- Canonically, though, Ansem the Wise's favorite food is, in fact, Sea-Salt Ice Cream. To the point where it is the password that unlocks the alternate Twilight Town.
- Seasalt ice cream has shown up in many places throughout the series, and stated to be liked by many, though Roxas is definitely the most notable example; it's apparently become something of a Running Gag.
- Considering that in 358/2 Days, he eats it with his friends EVERY. SINGLE. DAY...
- The World Ends With You uses this as a gameplay mechanic, how much a character likes a certain meal effects the Sync Boosts you get. Of the four beginning ramen types, Neku likes Shoyu Ramen, Shiki likes Miso Ramen, Beat like Tonkotsu Ramen, and Joshua prefers Shio.
- Shiki and Beat both like fast food. Joshua is disgusted by it. Neku likes ramen, mexican food and coffee.
- The Demon King Mike of Arcana Heart can be bribed by Yoriko with doughnuts. Where he puts them away since he's trapped in the form of a Simple Staff is anyone's guess.
- In the Japanese version of Rockman EXE, Netto is a Big Eater, and his favorite food is mentioned to be curry, specifically tonkatsu curry rice. The anime in particular shows him eating curry very often, and he completely pigs out on it in one episode, going as far as curry-flavored ice cream. Fan works tend to take his love of curry and crank it up to 11.
- Doc Louis in the Punch Out Wii game loves eating chocolate bars, and apparently has tickets to a chocolate bar convention. He also gives strange sayings and metaphors about chocolate. Probably explains why he seems to have gained weight...
- Also
Vodka Drunkenski loves vodkaSoda Popinski loves soda.
- Also
- You get to input your favorite food in Contact. Yes, as in your personal favorite food, since you the player are a character in the game. You'll see it referenced many times by other characters; in particular, the "soda" item will always be "#FOOD flavored." If you favorite food is apples? OK. If your favorite food is fish 'n' chips? Um, ewww.
- Anti-Guy from the original Paper Mario just loves lemon candy. A piece of lemon candy is enough to bribe him to give you his treasure chest. What happens if you don't have any lemon candy on hand? Well, good luck with that!
- Fat Princesses love cake.
- Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky--Guildmaster Wigglytuff is absolutely crazy for Perfect Apples. Apples are also the main food source in the game, used to replenish your energy (other items replenish a little bit, but not much).
- In the PSP version of Pangya, Uncle Bob says he eats at least three meals of fried chicken per day, because that's where he gets his strength.
- Kimmy Eckman of Backyard Sports loves candy.
- The genie in King's Quest VI: mints. Doubles as I Can't Believe It's Not Heroin!, as eating a lot causes him to act drunk and giddy.
- Expanded Universe material for the series explains the genie's addiction as saying that the creatures always have a weakness for something. The one in the manual had cravings for mistletoe berries. Expanded Universe material also mentions Graham's got a sweet tooth.
- Zell Dincht and the cafeteria hot dogs, which are always sold out...
- These were filled breads in the Japanese version, explaining that big pile of them he has at the end.
- In Simon the Sorcerer, dwarves like beer a lot. They like it so much that "beer" is the password to their mine.
- Every character in Touch Detective has a trademark favorite food. Though most of them are only listed on the website.
- Penelope's love for bananas on the other hand is made very apparent. She loves Banana's so much that she hangs a stuffed pair of them from the ceiling of her room and also owns a banana stand for keeping them fresh.
- Jasper Gein of Silent Hill 4 acts as a Broken Bridge, mumbling about how thirsty he is and how he could use some chocolate milk, refusing to move until you give him some.
- Etna from the Disgaea series has a fondness for a special pudding that comes from the Sea of Gehenna. She gets into fights when Laharl[1], or anyone else, tries to steal it.
- Valvatorez of Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten loves sardines, a food he developed a fondness for in place of blood after deciding to stop drinking the stuff due a certain incident. He's quite prone talking about how great they are, especially in the "On the Next..." segments, and "Sardine power!"is one of his catch phrases.
- For Persona 3's Akihiko Sanada, it's beef bowl. This is used to obliquely announce his official arrival on the scene late in Persona ~trinity soul~ when Shin, delivering take-out to the police station, wonders who the beef bowl ramen is for and a couple of women instantly volunteer to deliver it for him.
- According to Shinjiro, he only eats "That protein shit"; supplemented with ramen. This is supported by his segment of a series of fetch quests that require the Main Character to talk to each of their party members; they must get protein powder from Akihiko, whom goes into great detail about it.
- Not to mention Chie's STEEEEEEEAK! Or possibly fsteak.
- And for that matter, don't get between Kanji Tatsumi and his animal crackers. Especially the penguin ones.
- Don't forget about Teddy's Topsicles either
- Violet from Atelier Violet loves carrots. Flanderized even further in Trinity Universe, her only appearance outside Japan.
- Sharlie Lunoille of Super Robot Wars NEO loves donuts so much, she is called Donut Girl.
- Rorona from Atelier Rorona loves eating and baking pies. Her Trickster Mentor, Astrid, has barred her from using the alchemy workshop for baking, but when she hands the workshop over, Rorona is able to make as many pies as she wants (without her master's permission, of course). One of the endings has Rorona becoming the "Pie Master".
- In the sequel, Atelier Totori, Rorona's homuncului need pies to stay motivated, or else they won't work.
- Pizza with no olives for Dante from Devil May Cry. In the first novel tie-in that occurs before the first game but gets booted out of canon because of the third game, he also loves strawberry sundaes. The strawberry sundae becomes a Discontinuity Nod in the anime.
- Mist from Rune Factory loves turnips. A lot. It's her favorite gift, thus making her the easiest person to become close too. Later games in the series have a new variety called Pink Turnips, and it's implied she bred them into existence.
- From the Edutainment Game series Eagle Eye Mysteries: Most of the local kids in the first game love pizza, and in particular Mark Moriarty and Dave Grant are noted for having eaten a Pig Lovers' Pizza which is made with ham, sausage, and Canadian bacon.
- From the same game, Melinda Joost likes ice cream.
- Nigel Eagle in the sequel enjoys fish and chips.
- The Commodore in Guilty Party is an obsessive lover of pudding. He spends most of his vast fortune on it. This is actually a plot point, as the golden artifacts left by his archnemesis Mr. Valentine end up being pudding-related...
- As the lead-up comics to The Sacrifice DLC point out, Zoey from Left 4 Dead loves peanut butter. So cue squeeing when she finds out that the army base the group is being held in contains huge jars of the stuff.
- P.B Winterbottom of The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom really likes pie. He broke time and space to get pie. He created clones to get pie. He destroyed buildings. He eats nothing but pies.
- Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes: Each character unveiled on Kickstarter thus far has had their favorite foods specified. For example, Garr likes pancakes slathered with whipped cream, Perielle likes tomato-and-cheese sandwiches, Yuferius likes avocado sushi, Seign likes poached eggs, and so on.
Visual Novels[]
- Fate/stay night gives us Kirei and mapo doufu.
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney:
- Phoenix: Grape Juice (oddly enough, not a case of Frothy Mugs of Water).
- Maya: Hamburgers (Mayoi liked noodle soup, which created a Dub Induced Plot Hole in the fourth game.)
- Ema Skye: Karintou Snackoos. (They make good projectiles too!)
- Gumshoe: Instant noodles. (Though this has less to do with how much he likes it so much that it's some of the only food he can afford.)
- Godot: Coffee. One of the rare cases where he appreciates the taste more than the caffeine (although he still despises decaf).
- Truth in Television: People who appreciate coffee for the taste usually do prefer regular kind. The decaffeinating process adversely affects the quality of the bean (long story short, the caffeine gets brewed out), so, all other factors being equal, a cup of decaf will always be inferior.
- Missile: Samurai dogs.
- Maggey Byrde: Hot dogs
- Edgeworth: Tea
- Trucy Wright: Vanilla Pudding.
- Tsukihime. Ciel. Curry. That is all.
- Oko San, star pigeon of the track team, has an obsession with pudding. Not just any pudding, though: only the legendary True Pudding will do. Inferior varieties are a Berserk Button. He even literally crashes a party in search of it. If you get his extended ending in the paid version of the game, Oko San becomes a god of pudding.
- Oko San has a Tumblr, which is predominated by pudding pictures and recipes offered by his fans.
- The heroine tells Sakuya that her favorite food is udon along the course of his route. Though the game itself begins with her telling Ryouta she can't sit still in class unless she's had some red meat.
- Katawa Shoujo:
- Lily: Tea.
- Shizune: Anything deep fried
- Misha: Parfaits
- Rin: Oranges. Which Hisao can feed her to in her route.
- Kenji: Pizza
- In Devil World, Tamagon's favorite food is ice cream.
Webcomics and Web Animation[]
- In A Moment of Peace ice cream grows on bushes, never melts, and is highly nutritious.
- Jenny Everywhere: Toast
- George the Dragon: Pardon me, but do I smell nachos?
- Homestar Runner:
Flushy Push MarthmallowsFluffity Puffity MarshaladesFluffy Puff Marshmallows. He likes to eat about 147 of them before he drinks a tall, cold glass of melonade. Also, Bronco Trolleys (orange slice + peanut butter + Triscuit).- Speaking of melonade, some of his favorite flavors include Taco Annihilation, Athletic Berry Blast, Butt 1 Flavor, Quadruple Triple, Costa Latte Froth, and Sizzlin' Bacon Guava Quench.
- Strong Bad: Cold Ones and Potate chips.
- Marzipan: Tofu.
- The King of Town: Butter.
- The Cheat: Sudsuu (skim milk and gummy bears)
- Dear God, the fandom went absolutely crazy with 1-Up (Homestar's Japanese anime reimagining) and his obsession with pudding.
- Horndog: Faygo. See also: Insane Clown Posse.
- Dominic Deegan and "mapvel candies". The threat of said candies no longer being available was enough to trigger a Heroic BSOD.
- The favorite food of choice for Bob and George is/was ice cream. Well that, and beer. Many of the sub/fancomics got their own, too. One even went so far as to name the comic after it.
- A handful of these exist in Charby the Vampirate: Charby likes chicken, Mye loves gummy bears and Crispo is obsessed with nachos. Menu will eat anything.
- Thog from Order of the Stick only delays a boredom-driven rampage for fudge ripple.
- ROOMIES has Flinters and mints (or anything mint-flavored) and Alex and toast.
- Weebl Bull of Weebl and Bob likes pie.
- Black Mage of Eight Bit Theater also likes pie. Specifically, evil pie.
- In early episodes of Kate Modern, Charlie was extremely fond of "sangas" (sandwiches).
- Schlock Mercenary's eponymous character is fond of a drink mix called "Ovalkwik." The ingredient list is here.
Ch'Vorthq: "Sergeant, you will be drinking a very heavy stimulant cocktail cut with shampoo and high-tensile inert carbon." |
- The cast of Schlock Mercenary are also fond of the noble 'Chupaqueso', which is, effectively, melted cheese, wrapped in fried cheese, traditionally garnished with cheese. It's not a good food for a prolonged lifespan, but mercenaries don't tend to live that long anyway.
- Doc of The Whiteboard enjoys Mountain Dew so much, he brews his own extra-potent blend. He also uses Dew to brew coffee.
- The title character of Weesh recharges his powers by eating licorice.
- Rocky from Lackadaisy Cats loves his pancakes. They're at the forefront of his mind whenever he goes to a restaurant, and he has trouble figuring out a plan "B" when the place doesn't have them.
- Eddie from Emergency Exit is famous for his love of Green Jell-O.
- Beriah in Men in Hats enjoys turkey club sandwiches.
- The Cubi race in DMFA scores double. They don't actually need to eat regular food and feed off emotions instead, and each Cubi has a favourite emotion. However, they can eat for pleasure, and typically eat nothing but one or two favourites. Of the main cast:
- Fa'Lina seems to have a thing for muffins.
- Dan loves ale and according to his sister has eaten almost nothing else in the last three years.
- Abel is unusual for a Cubi, in that he eats regularly and eats a range of foods.
- In Teh Gladiators, guest gladiator Leeroy Jenkins (of World of Warcraft fame) is seldom seen without his crab cakes. Made doubly funny because, in the actual game, crab cakes are a very low level food that would take an entire stack and several minutes to bring a max level character back to full health. True to this, the one time he actually fights on the heroes' side, he doesn't finish eating and get up to attack until after the battle is over.
- In Sluggy Freelance, Aylee went through one stage of her life cycle where she would eat nothing but potatoes. During other stages, her tastes have not been as innocuous, however...
- Bun-bun is fond of alfalfa hay.
- In Pokey the Penguin, the hero and most other penguins are obsessed with "Arctic Circle candy", which appears to be some sort of plant that only grows in the Arctic Circle.
- Zebra Girl Sandra really likes coffee. She's not addicted, but she doesn't need to eat and she can't taste anything else.
- PHD Comics: Don't try to eat Cecilia's chocolate. And of course Mike Slackenerny will eat anything that's free.
- Both Helens' Trademark Favourite Drink in Narbonic is pink boxed wine. Dave has two: Guinness and Mountain Dew.
- Josh from Hijinks Ensue really likes bacon.
- Bob and George inverts this. Everyone loves ice cream. So much that X gets All of the Other Reindeer when Dr. Light programs him to not like it.
- Darkmoon from Castlevania RPG likes barmaids.
- In Homestuck, John loves Fruit Gushers, WV loves TaB, and Bec loves irradiated t-bone steaks.
You dial up a thick T-BONE STEAK, which you are sure Becquerel is in the mood for because he is in the mood for steak every day and is never in the mood for anything else. |
- Gamzee, as a nod to Insane Clown Posse, also has a thing for Faygo.
- WV also likes to eat things that are green. Anything green, compulsively and apparently subconciously.

So he eats it. Bonus points: It was left there by his ex-boss, who mixed in a little cat feces because he needed to infect Ricky with Toxoplamosis gondii.
- The title character in Microsoft Sam Reads Funny Windows Errors seems to love tacos quite a lot.

- Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee Croshaw apparently loves Branston Pickle. He's also mentioned Jacob's Cream Crackers quite a bit, as well as Cadbury Creme eggs. An attempt to remove the fillings to Cadbury Creme Eggs and replace it with Branston Pickle apparently did not go so well.
- Brad Jones absolutely LOVES Crystal Pepsi. He loves it so much that he's trying to start a letter campaign to bring it back.

- The Extreme Dinosaurs had Mexican food, especially salsa.
- Energon amongst the Transformers metaseries. The titular aliens can subsist off other substances but nothing beats the rush of energy from those sweet, sweet crystals.
- The Constructicons in Transformers Animated are also near fanatical oil-drinkers, most likely because they are New York construction worker parodies and they treat oil like beer. This gets into a weird place when they find delicious-tasting oil on the ground that seeped out of Bumblebee's arm earlier in the episode.
- A Discredited Meme from Transformers Armada had Hot Shot be obsessed with JaAm. What is JaAm? Excellent question.
- Richie of Static Shock was once bribed out of important information for cheeseburgers. "With grilled onions!" He later bemoans.
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Pizza, the Totally Radical foodstuff.
- The black & white comic version of the Turtles had a taste for beer.
- Though that may be because it was a "What Do You Mean It's Not for Kids?" sort of comic that got toned down to be marketable to younger audiences.

- Don: sushi

- Monterey Jack, of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, has cheese, of course. The sight, smell, or mention of "chEEeeEEeeEEeeEESE" is enough to trigger a phenomenon known as a "cheese attack". The lengths Monty goes through to sate his desire for cheese can get him into trouble... or out of it. This was exaggerated to G-Rated Drug-esque porportions on "Mind Your Cheese & Q's" when Monty vows to quit cheese after yet another cheese attack nearly gets Gadget injured by a runaway kite and even suffers withdrawal in one scene.
- Another time, Jack and the Rangers kept a local cafe open while its owner was on vacation and Jack's recipe for "cheese chowder" proved popular enough to keep the cafe busy and save the owner from having to close for good(as well as foiling a bank heist, as the bank robbers planned on tunneling through the abandoned cafe to get to the bank next door).
- Scooby Doo: Scooby Snacks.
- Homer of The Simpsons: Donuts, porkchops, and Duff Beer.
- During the show's beginnings as animated shorts on The Tracy Ullman Show, the family would often celebrate good times by going out for Frosty Chocolate Milkshakes. This didn't carry over to the full-length episodes, however. (Except for the occasional reference.)
- Ed, Edd n Eddy: Jawbreakers. Ed seems inordinately fond of buttered toast and gravy as well.
- "Fond of"? Ed has a BATH filled with Gravy for no apparent reason. He even goes out of his way to protect it when Eddy tries to use it as a "gravy grave" when he temporarily becomes a supervillain of some sort.
- Ron of Kim Possible: Nacos. "Taco meets nacho. I call it the Naco". Kinda strange, because "naco" in Mexico is used to describe someone or something that's tacky, trashy, or sleazy.
- Both Ron and Rufus like cheese in general.
- Iroh from Avatar: The Last Airbender and his tea. Also, Sokka and meat. Any meat, apparently.

- A Close Shave ends with Wallace losing his new love interest because she is allergic to cheese.

Babs: It's a rabbit thing. |
- Taz: tigers, lions, elephants, buffaloes, donkeys, hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses, bears, giraffes, octopuses, moose, ducks, and especially rabbits. And kiwi birds.
- Which is odd, because NONE of those animals are native to Australia, let alone Tazmania. (Well, Ducks exist basically everywhere and octopi can probably be found in the ocean near Tazmania and Rabbits are ferrel pests in Mainland Australia, but otherwize, all the other animals exist only in zoos in Australia.
- And he washes it down with a nice frothy glass of orange juice. Blah, blah, blah. Yakety-smackety.

- The original Applejack and apples. Her My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic counterpart owns an apple farm, but it doesn't seem as though it's necessarily her favorite food.

- Chocolate Boy from Hey Arnold is addicted to... yeah. In one episode, Arnold helps him get over his addiction, and he ends up getting addicted to radishes instead.
- The Wild Thornberrys: Nigel loves kippers, and Darwin loves Cheese Crunchies.
- Strangely enough, kippers are depicted as whole, gray coloured fish. In reality they're smoked fillets with a distinctive dark orange colour.
- Entrèe from Spliced really loves mayonnaise.
- Coop in Megas XLR loves his Philly cheese steaks.
- Coop loved them wrapped in bacon and deep fat fried. He was also a fan of Ham Wrapped in Pizza.
- Coop loves food in general. He apparently won several awards for competitive eating. And the space pirates accused him of cheating in one such competition.
- Coop also has a weakness for the "Stratospheric Strawberry Slime" slushies. To the point that the destruction of one of them is torturous to him. And may God have mercy on someone who dares to destroy a slushie machine in Coop's presence, because Coop certainly won't...

- Pinkie Pie loves sweets in general, but cupcakes are most commonly seen as her favorite, thanks to the cupcakes song in Ep. 12.
- According to Fanon, Derpy Hooves/Ditzy Doo really likes muffins. This was born from a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in "Applebuck Season" where she hungrily says, "Muffin," from the background — not only blatant Flanderization, but not even wholly reliable due to the fact that two other ponies mouth the word at the same time, calling into question whether Derpy even spoke the audible line in the first place. Nevertheless, this is such a pervasive and universally accepted component of her fanon characterization that it got a nod from the production staff in "Putting Your Hoof Down," where Derpy's bag is seen with a muffin clip.

- O'Grady: Pizza for Kevin. In the first eight episodes, a cold opening would feature he and Abby at their Local Hangout, Eets-a-Pizza with a partially eaten pie in front of the two of them with soda, taking about O'Grady (and sometimes getting distracted into other simple topics). In each cold opening, the pizza's topping changes.
- In "Bubble Heads", after argument about their friendship and being told by Kevin('s Weirdness-projected thought bubble) that his drumming's no good just for him lying about being sick so he doesn't have to go with him to a concert with him, Harold, an Eets-a-Pizza chef/Kevin's then-friend, decides not to serve his ex-friend free pizza ever again, thinking that this would hurt. Harold, out of frustration, deep down, does get stung by this but sarcastically accepts this and adds insult to Harold's pizza and says it's terrible, which his thought bubble dismisses.

Abura-age, in fact, has become so well-associated with foxes that udon with abura-age is called kitsune-udon.
- Kappa are notorious for cucumber cravings. They will sometimes spare hapless humans if bribed with them.
- Leading to cucumber rolls being known as "kappa maki".
- Not quite real life because it's more of general stereotypes, but stoners frequently eat pizza (specifically Domino's), and college students favor Taco Bell. These came from somewhat possible origins, Domino's delivers and Taco Bell is some of the cheapest food available.
- Tabletop gamers, similarly, have Cheetos, Mountain Dew, and Twinkies.
- A stoner's favorite food is whatever's handy.
- One of the effects of marijuana is the rise of seratonin levels in your brain, making you feel hungry and enhancing your sense of taste, so pretty much anything with a lot of flavor, especially sweet or salty snacks, is most sought after by those of a stoned persuasion. Even something as bland as celery tastes good when you're stoned. Not that this troper has any personal experience, mind you.
- Contrary to popular belief, although rabbits do like carrots, the food they will actually go nuts for the most is bananas.
- Likewise with mice and peanut butter.
- Order the same thing from a resturant every day (or as good as). They soon associate you with that food.

- US president Ronald Reagan and jelly beans, to the point that there is a portrait of him at his presidential library made of Jelly Bellies (his preferred brand.) There's a duplicate at their factory too. He started eating them regularly to help him quit smoking and the habit never went away.
- Tea for the British. To the point that one item of British military equipment is a vessel for boiling water that runs off the battery in armoured cars, enabling the British soldier to have hot fresh tea (in British parlance "having a brew") literally anywhere their unit is not actually being shot at. During WWI, the common British infantrymen rarely had access to vehicles, so they used the water from their water cooled machine guns, often firing off shots pointlessly just to produce the water for tea.
- Various cultures often have a stereotypical food associated with them, which is often fodder for slurs.
- English sailors were once known for eating limes to fight scurvy. This is the origin of the slur "limey", and a British ship was called a "lime juice tub". They originally used lemons, but lemons were produced in French colonies and limes in British colonies, so they switched to the more patriotic (and less vitamin C rich) option. The French slur against the British is to call them "les rosbifs," due to the British stereotypical love of roast beef. To be fair, during the Napoleonic Wars, this was very much Truth in Television, as the British viewed French cooking as effete and wimpy, and took pride in eating "manly" dishes like beef.
- The English also love Gin and Tonic.
- The Northern English and their black pudding and tripe.
- Londoners and their jellied eel.
- The Welsh and leeks (vide Henry V).

- Irish people have also been stereotyped as eating nothing but potatoes, which comes from the sudden influx of Irish immigrants to the US because of the Potato Blight.
- Racist depictions of African Americans people invariably feature a love of fried chicken and watermelon, rustic foods from the South. Collard greens are another stereotyped food. The entire "Soul Food" style of cooking is based around foods that are actually popular in the black community.
- Southerners are also associated with certain foods, such as corn pone, mint juleps, moonshine whiskey, and of course peanuts, immortalized in the song "Goober Peas" popular with the Confederate Army and the mileage comedians all over the world got out of President Jimmy Carter owning a peanut farm.
- Scots and their haggis and porage (recall Samuel Johnson's dictionary definition of oats).
- "Spaghettis and "Macaronis" can be used as anti-Italian slurs in German-speaking countries.

He and two Colorado police officers were discussing the sandwich late at night on 1 February 1976 at Elvis' Graceland Ranch in Tennessee. Just talking about the sandwich made them all very hungry for one. What did they do? They hopped on Elvis' private jet, landing in Denver two hours later, where they found 22 Fool's Gold Loaves (Elvis having made arrangements with the owner of the Colorado Mine Company, a personal friend) and ate all of the sandwiches between him, the policemen, and the pilots of Elvis' plane over the course of three hours (that's 4-5 sandwiches=4-5 pounds of bacon per person in three hours), washing them down with Perrier and Dom Perignon. After the sandwiches were gone, Elvis, the police officers, and the pilots flew back to Memphis without ever leaving the airport.
- When feeling less ambitious, Elvis would often "settle" for a simple Monte Cristo, a ham and cheese sandwich batter-dipped, pan-fried, and served with a side of syrup for dipping. When Bob Zmuda asked a man who had been one of Elvis' personal assistants if he thought Elvis was still alive, the man responded, "Nobody can eat that many Monte Cristo sandwiches a day and expect to live."
- The Trobrian Islanders of Papau New Guinea — Yams. To the Trobrianders Yams aren't just a food source, they're a major way of economic and political life. For them, trading yams is like trading money. A chief's power is usually symbolized by how many yams he has in his yam house (yam houses are like bank accounts to the Trobrianders), which is the result of marrying many wives and the families of those wives tending his yam gardens. A slight subversion to this trope is that unless out of hunger or for a truly special occasion (like marriage, with the sharing of yams creating alliances and social obligations), the Trobrianders rarely eat their yams because eating them is like eating their own currency.

The game featured about 30 different cheese varieties, all with full descriptions of sight, smell AND taste.
- Don Gorske takes this to an extreme: not only are Big Macs his Trademark Favorite Food, but he (quite literally) eats almost nothing else (not even the fries).
