The animated show in general[]
- Awesome Music: "Honoo no Overdrive", courtesy of Koji Wada, the artist who sang "Butter-Fly" in Digimon Adventure.
- Ensemble Darkhorses:
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Robots in Disguise is more popular in the USA than Car Robots is in Japan, probably due to the Woolseyisms, Mythology Gags, and the heavy fan backlash against the Unicron Trilogy.
- Harsher in Hindsight: "An Explosive Situation" featured a plot regarding a terrorist bomb in a major metropolis. It aired on, and this absolutely true, September 10th 2001! Unsurprisingly, it was pulled from the airwaves.
- Improved Second Attempt:
- The anime's designs for Ruination/Baldigus, based on the original Bruticus toy, feature a significantly stronger dynamic silhouette than the design by Floro Dery in the original Generation 1 cartoon.
- So Okay It's Average: Consensus is that it isn't the best Transformers series, but it's definitely not the worst.
- The Woobie: Sky-Byte.
The toys in general[]
- Harsher in Hindsight:
- In "Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!", Optimus Prime withdraws to an island to repair himself after fending off attacks from Ultra Magnus. The way the energy-replenishing wires are connected to Prime's abdomen has led fans to speculate that it foreshadows a design flaw in the new Omega Prime toy from Haslab, as the Optimus Prime figure developed small cracks in the abdomen due to clearance issues with the inner torso joint.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks:
- The Transformers: Legacy Tow-Line winds up as a redeco/new head retool of the same line's Scraphook instead of a new tooling based on the latter.
- NOT the toy itself, but the Generations-styled remake of both Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy and Ultra/God Magnus is released as a HasLab-exclusive crowdfunding figure of ALL things, rather than releasing as two separate figures for the general retail. The fact that said crowdfund figure ALSO defiles Hasbro's golden rule of "not wanting any Optimus Prime to be a HasLab exclusive" since years ago.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
- After 17/18 years of waiting to be reissued for the Encore line, the God Fire Convoy/Omega Prime toy is unfortunately known for its various quality control issues, such as the misassembled pieces and swapped voice chips.
