Some people have a natural talent of appearing dumb, vapid, or just plain goofy.You assume that based on what you see on screen that certain celebrities are dumb, but its turns out there quite smart compared to on camera.

Examples of Dumb Character, Smart Actor include:
- Lisa Kudrow is known for playing dumb, vapid characters such as Phoebe Buffay from Friends, but Kudrow actually has a degree in biology in Vassar College and worked as a biology researcher before entering acting and reportedly has an registered IQ of 154.
- Due to his slow speech pattern and mannerisms, Sylvester Stallone often plays Dumb Muscle type characters as Rocky Balboa. Stallone reportedly has a IQ of 160.
- Diane Morgan plays The Ditz clueless reporter Philomena Cunk, but downplayed as the real Morgan while not a genius is much more competent compared to her character.
- Nolan Gould plays the dumber character Luke Dunphy from Modern Family, while Gould skipped six grades, graduated from high school at the age of 13, and is a Mensa member with an IQ of 150.
- Marilyn Monroe is most famous for playing Dumb Blonde type characters, but the real Monroe is reportedly very intellectual and well-read allegedly had an IQ of 168.
