For dance scenes in animation, there would be times where the characters would perform a spin move. But usually when it's a dance scene between two characters, one character would turn the other character into a literal tornado during the dance.
Whether it be because the character was trying to be romantic or was trying to show off their moves, they would spin their dance partner around. Whether their dance partner was expecting it or is spun against their will, they would usually end up becoming too dizzy from all the spinning.
The "spinnie" doesn't always have to be spun as a twister, but in any way that turns them into a whirling blur because of how their dance partner is leading.
This is mainly done for comedic purposes in animation, having some connection to Amusing Injuries for not just having the character getting dizzy but also, at times, getting spun off and hitting another person or into an object.
Usually, it would be a male character spinning a female character, other times the roles would get reversed. No matter the case though, it can happen to any gender during a dance scene.
Of course, it doesn't always have to necessarily be a dance, but anything that requires rhythmic movement between two people such as an acrobatic act, skating, or synchronized swimming.
