During the monster-attack-of-the-week, Silk and her friends Vivenne and Tsubomi get closer to get a better view of UFO-man, their city's 100 foot tall protector. They get a better look than they wanted, when UFO-man takes a step backwards and crushes all three to death. Feeling downright embarrassed, UFO-man sacrifices his powers to resurrect them, turning him from a 100 foot tall superhero to a six inch tall cute little alien on a floating mini-UFO thing.

But the monsters aren't stopping just because he's no longer up to the task of saving the world, so Silk and her two friends are forcibly drafted. Of course, UFO-man didn't warn her that because she only has one-third of his power, she can only transform for a short while, and this is personified by the fact that her new uniform almost immediately starts to disintegrate once she turns 100' tall.

However, UFO-man has a trump card: the girls can supplement his power with feelings of raw humiliation, called Moe. In short, the more they don't want to be seen naked, the stronger they get, which makes the 100' battles a race to see if Silk and her friends can beat the monsters before they lose too much clothing.

Each of the Ultimate-Girls are vastly different:

  • Silk Koharuno: A very shy girl, to the point of nearly being unable to function in public. Has the most raw power of the three Ultimate-girls, but hates it. Has a crush on Tsubomi's brother Makoto, who is obsessed with UFO-Man (and the Ultimate Girls) and oblivious about her. Called "Little Boobs" by the announcer.
  • Vivenne Otohri: A taller, rich girl. Has a secret crush on Silk. Not AS nervous as Silk about her Ultimate-girl uniform's inability to keep it together, but still doesn't want to be indecent in public. Has the most intuitive understanding of her powers as an Ultimate Girl — she figures out first that it's the feelings of humiliation at being naked that are supplementing their powers. Called "Big Boobs" by the announcer.
  • Tsubomi Moroboshi: A smaller girl with glasses who refers to herself as "boku". She is a Cosplay Otaku Girl and an exhibitionist, and takes to the idea of being a 100' Superhero with relish. She even makes a normal-sized cosplay version of her Ultimate-Girls uniform. Of course, because the UFO-Man superpowers are being supplemented by feelings of shame, this cripples her power — but she is the most Genre Savvy of the team, and able to supplement her weaker powers by fighting smarter. Called "Loli" by the announcer.

Contains examples of the followings tropes:[]

  • Affectionate Parody: Makes fun of Ultraman and the genre Ultraman started, right down to having some of the giant monsters footprints have names of Ultraman toy makers imprinted on them.
    • Also parodies Magical Girl genres, every brand of Fan Service and Moe, while brazenly providing them. Satirizes the industry to the point of making their own producers Monster of the Week caricatures, voice-acted by same producers.
  • Airplane of Love: The end of episode 6, when Vivenne realizes that Silk hasn't got a clue about her crush, an airplane can be seen leaving a contrail over the beach.
  • Attack of the 50 Foot Whatever: It's only the friggin' plot! Three High School girls grow to 100 foot stature, then fight the monster of the week. Lather, rinse, repeat!
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: When all other censorship tropes are relaxed, the Fan Service payoff is a lack of nipples or genitalia in the TV version. This is not true for the DVD version, however.
  • Cat Smile: Tsubomi
  • Camera Fiend: Makoto.
  • Clark Kenting: Both Silk and Tsubomi's siblings are unable to recognize their own sisters.
    • Could potentially be explained by different hair colors, perspective messing with vision, and cognitive dissociation between the giant girls and the siblings. Or it's just Rule of Funny.
    • Subverted by Tsubomi when she dressed up in her own Ultimate Girl costume for a party and posed for pictures. As a known cosplay fanatic, it was the perfect cover — could Clark Kent get away with that?
  • Clothing Damage: The second the girls turn into their 100' tall forms, the clock is ticking. The more time they waste, the more their clothing disintegrates.
  • Combat Commentator: Two, in fact.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Tsubomi
  • Defeat by Modesty: Inverted. Silk and Vivienne's modesty is what makes them so potentially powerful as the fight goes on.
  • Delayed Reaction: Quite probably the only anime example of a boy running into a room full of half-dressed girls, wildly shooting pictures of an imagined monster, then leaving. Makoto was lucky to live.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?
    • UFO-Man powers up the girls by having a oddly shaped rod extend from a... certain location. Then he ... shouts out in a certain way, and white slimy stuff covers the heroines.
    • Vivenne is covered with dripping "white-out" by the editor monster.
    • Many of the monsters get their power from groin-mounted devices which the girls have to grip or tug on (rolls eyes).
  • Ecchi
Cquote1

  Tsubomi: "I'M THE ECCHI MONSTER!!!!"

Cquote2
  • Enhanced on DVD: The Transformation Sequences for Tsubomi and Vivenne were not finished in time for episode 2, so we see a loading screen instead. The DVD replaces the loading screen with the regular transformation. Additional nudity was also added.
  • First-Episode Resurrection
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Ultimate Girls get their power from Michaiyan Otome Energy.
    • The production studio of this anime was called m.o.e., or Master of Entertainment on certain occasions. The latter could have been a rather Hilarious in Hindsight Badass Boast considering that this anime series was their last; the studio folded not too long after its release.
  • Guilty Pleasure - Oh, is it ever.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Vivienne encourages Silk's pursuit of Makoto, despite her crush on Silk.
  • Latex Space Suit - Of a sort.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall - Monster attacks take place every Monday. Guess which day the show aired.
  • Loves My Alter Ego: Makoto is completely obsessed with the Ultimate Girls and blind to Silk's affections.
  • Lucky Charms Title - UG♥Ultimate Girls
  • Magic Pants: Averted! Silk's outfit is shredded the first time she transforms (leaving her having to hide naked in a park), but afterwards the girls find private places to strip naked before transforming. The fact that they have to be outdoors to do this gives Silk and Vivenne no end of trouble. Tsubomi, however, seems to regard nudity as just another costume and strips the instant that battle calls.
  • Meganekko: Tsubomi, as long as she's normal sized. Part of her transformation sequence is having her glasses come off. Fortunately, she doesn't seem to need them when she's super-sized.
  • Moe: The Ultimate Girls' Power Source is quite literally how Moe they are.
  • Monumental Battle: The final battle at Tokyo Big Sight.
  • Monster of the Week: Lampshaded constantly.
  • Naughty Tentacles: Averted by the punching monster octopus, to the disappointment of one commentator:

Yosaku: Damn, he lost already? What the hell were those tentacles for?

Cquote2
  • Pettanko: Tsubomi
  • Refuge in Audacity
  • Repeat Cut: Episode one features repeat shots of Silk falling over not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR times from various angles, after getting whacked with a scale model of the Tokyo Tower.
  • Schoolgirl Lesbians: Vivenne
  • School Newspaper Newshound: Makoto.
  • Skinship Grope
  • Tokyo Tower: As a classic anime icon, the tower can be seen in the background of the publicity shots, as well as being carried around by a monster in the first episode. Presumably this is a scale model, since it would establish the height of the Ultimate Girls as being around 4000 feet tall!
  • Transformation Sequence: Stock footage except for Tsubomi and Vivenne's first times. Lampshaded, as Tsubomi and Vivenne's transformation sequences — not having been animated yet — are replaced the first few times with something that looks like an Adobe Flash loading bar.
Cquote1

Tsubomi is currently transforming. Please wait.

Cquote2
    • Sadly, this was replaced on the DVDs.
  • Verbal Tic: Told that cat ear wearers must end all sentences with "nyan", Silk obeys even when upset or cheering on her friends.
  • Weak but Skilled: Tsubomi's lack of embarrassment at the Clothing Damage part of their power means she can't use the full power that Silk & Vivienne can. She has to fight smarter, not harder, as a result.
  • Yuri Genre: Vivenne's unrequited crush on Silk.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: All three girls in their school costumes.
