Fridge Brilliance[]
- Having Marluru, an alien from the Planet Metron where their kind has run-ins with the Land of Light Ultras, as GUTS-Select's Mission Control giving the team information of monsters not native to their world (such as Gymaira in particular). Despite their juvenile appearance, Marluru possesses a level of intellect that even exceeds that of any other human. It makes sense that having a benign alien creature to be enlisted in an attack team full of humans to provide them intel about the monsters they encounter.
- The characters in the series draw parallels to the characters of Ultraman Tiga:
- Kengo Manaka to Daigo Madoka: Kengo is a botanist in Mars, Daigo after the end of his series, settled down on Mars with Rena as a botanist.
- Yuna Shizuma to Rena Yanase: Both are the female leads of their respective series. Rena is Daigo's partner and eventual love interst, later spouse. Yuna serves as Kengo's instructor.
- Yuna to Megumi Iruma: They are both reincarnations of an ancient mystic named Yuzare.
- Akito Hijiri has three expies from Tiga:
- Masami Horii and Jun Yazumi: Horii and Yazumi serve as the brains of the team, with the latter being the Mission Control.
- Keigo Masaki: Both Akito and Keigo are prodigy geniuses since teenagers and sought to become a Giant of Light.
- Trigger Sky Type's opponent in its episode debut being Gazort makes enough sense as Gazort is best known for its flight and incredible speed while airborne and Tiga in his home series always uses Sky Type when dealing with Gazort.
- Meta example: According to Koichi Sakamoto, Ultraman Trigger is neither a Continuity Reboot nor a sequel of any form to Ultraman Tiga despite that the titular Ultra being a Legacy Character of sorts to Tiga right down to sharing the same abilities and attributes aside from the fact that it commemorates the latter's 25th anniversary. Given that Trigger is referred to as the New Generation Tiga, it is meant to retell Tiga's original story for the current generation of audiences in that Sakamoto wants to let the current generation know Tiga especially for those who are new to watching the Ultra Series.
- Kaiju being empowered by the Giants of Darkness are distinguished by their red eyes, and generating black and red jolts of electricity as seen with Deathdrago. They have "Dark Monster" included in their Boss Subtitles.
- Carmeara and Hudram are currently the only Dark Giants capable of empowering kaijus to do dirty work for them. Darrgon, on the other hand, has yet to demonstrate this ability but doesn't want to. This is because Darrgon seeks out to fight opponents who can match his raw power. Part of Darrgon's code of honor is that he despises dirty tricks and wants a fair fight, even if he wins or loses, so this explains he only appears to fight Trigger without any outside interference after the Giant of Light destroyed Gymaira.
- Ignis having the knowledge of Satandelos's weakness makes enough sense when you consider he spent years as a treasure hunter and likely has had to sabotage his fair share of robots and machines. With the Gigadelos units being sold as planetary defense weapons to various species, he likely had to contend with at least one in his exploits which gave him an idea on how to defeat them.
- Darrgon being unable to properly process human emotions such as love is no surprise even for him is that being a Proud Warrior Race Guy, he is only bound to fighting Worthy Opponents and taking pride in his brute strength alone at the same time have been a slumber for 30 million years. And the fact that Ignis's advise actually fails to help Darrgon to flirt with Yuna ended up in more mayhem is that Darrgon needed to learn that love comes in many forms: from friendship, familial and companionship, platonic, and eventually romantic. Darrgon eventually comes to terms with his dilemma when he learns that it is the strength to protect those around him can make him stronger.
Fridge Horror[]
- The mysterious Giant of Darkness in Kengo's visions has similar eyes and color timer to Trigger, this along with several dialogue from the Dark Giants might mean he is Trigger's original evil form and once leader of the Dark Giants.
- Episode 6 reveals 100 years before the series Hudram committed genocide in at least one planet: the Lishurians' homeworld, given that he awakened exactly at that time it brings the question as to how many planets did he decimate and races he drove into extinction before finally arriving on Earth when his teammates began to break free of their prisons.
- The fact that Hudram was able to hijack a Gigadelos and transformed it into a planet-destroying weapon shows that he's very likely to have somehow found a way to Taiga's universe or at least some network from it.
