Akito's Past

"Akito's parents were scientists and two of Father's only supporters. They worked with Akito, who is already a genius, and conducted research to protect the world. But... that monster [Deathdrago]... It was really hard at first. He believed that his parents tried and still failed, and he became withdrawn."

All spoilers will be unmarked. You've been warned!

Episode 3: The Ultra-Ancient Light and Darkness[]

  • Mitsukuni's fears coming true about Yuna being the host for Yuzare's spirit and why the Giants of Darkness seek after her for the Eternity Core. It's both this and Nightmare Fuel, to wit, imagine yourself in Mitsukuni's shoes and your child is being targeted by a force of Ancient Evil that could bring the entire world to its knees. It's no wonder why the Chairman asked Akito and Kengo to keep the truth a secret from her.

Episode 5: Akito's Promise[]

  • The episode as a whole fleshes out Akito's backstory and hitting home why he became so cold and withdrawn in the first place: his parents were scientists working for Mitsukuni six years prior to the series' start, then came Deathdrago. Akito can only look on at the wreckage in his flashback after finding his parents perished during Deathdrago's rampage.
  • In the present, the mere sight of Deathdrago's return was enough to push Akito over the edge and disobey orders so he could take his rage out on the rampaging monster, only for him to get suspended for his troubles.

Episode 6: The One-Hour Demon[]

  • Like Akito's backstory in the previous episode, this episode fleshes out Ignis's past and his personal vendetta against Hudram. 100 years ago, Hudram destroyed the entire Planet Lishuria along with its inhabitants, and Ignis being the sole survivor of the tragedy — Hudram just leaves a grieving Ignis to wallow on his despair afterwards. This is why he wants to obtain Ultraman Trigger's light for himself to get back at Hudram. The guy even sheds Manly Tears at the end of the episode, showing how he's willing to get payback at all costs.

Episode 11: The Encounter Between Light and Darkness[]

  • Both Akito and Yuna were unable to do anything in this episode when Kengo gets sent into the past and Trigger is reverted back to Trigger Dark. As Trigger Dark rampages, both Akito and Yuna's cries to bring Kengo back fall on deaf ears while the Dark Giants revel at their temporary victory.

Episode 12: The 30-Million-Year Miracle[]

  • Yuzare tearfully apologizing to Kengo/Trigger as she uses the last of her power to seal both Trigger and the Dark Giants.
  • Carmeara's Villainous Breakdown is both sad and terrifying to say the least, the fact that she used to hold a flame for Trigger before he became a Giant of Light resulting in the way she behaves in the present makes you want to at least feel bad for her.

Episode 17: Raging Feast[]

  • Ignis relieving the tragedy of his home planet combines both this and Nightmare Fuel right before where Hudram razes the whole planet to cinders. And when Metsu-Orochi continues its rampage, Trigger Dark apparently continues to feed on Ignis's hatred for Hudram and despair by forcing Ignis to transform.
  • Related to the above, Ignis's Unstoppable Rage in this episode while he helps Trigger fend off Carmeara as Trigger Dark is pretty much justified.
    • Before that, just as Metsu-Orochi resumes its rampage, Trigger Dark once again feeds off at the treasure hunter's rage and despair while Ignis cries "stop it!" in anguish as he transforms into Trigger Dark against his will as he relieves that aforementioned flashback of Lishuria's destruction.
    • While he tries in vain stopping Metsu-Orochi's rampage as Trigger Dark and Carmeara enters the fray to deal with Trigger; Ignis's fury comes at its peak as he vents his frustration on Carmeara, who had nothing to do with Hudram's genocide of Lishuria by wounding her by borrowing Trigger's Circle Arms empowered with the Zaigorg Key as if he's sending a message to Hudram.
  • Despite helping Trigger holding off Carmeara as Trigger Dark, Ignis gets the short end of the stick in a rather downer note. He is arrested by GUTS-Select and hold him in custody due to the fact that Akito figured out that he snagged the prototype GUTS-Sparklence and the Zaigorg and Horoboros Keys.
