"Hi I'm Fiona Wallice and this is Web Therapy"

Cquote2

Web Therapy is a Web Original series starring Lisa Kudrow as therapist Fiona Wallice. The basic setup of the show is Fiona providing short therapy sessions online with her and her patient through video chat. What actually happens nearly every episode is Fiona either trying to capitalise on her show by exploiting her patient's sensational problem or some horrible revelation about her childhood/marriage/personality. The show is popular enough (and funny enough) to attract a laundry list of celebrities to play the patients; Courtney Cox, Alan Cumming and Julia Louis-Dreyfus to name a few.

Basically think Frasier meets Arrested Development IN SPAAAAAAAAAACE on the internet.

In 2011, it was turned into a TV series airing on Showtime.

This show provides examples of:[]

  • Actor Allusion: A few references to Friends are dropped during Courtney Cox's "session".
  • Did Not Do the Research: Fiona's analysis and advice come straight out of Pop Psychology 101. Actually intended though, given what we later learn. She's also called out on this by a patient who turns out to also be a psychologist (and then she breaks his brain).
  • Improv: The characters' traits and relationships are written and a basic outline of the episode is sketched out beforehand. Apart from that it's all on the fly.
